The team at TASSIMO would like to know about Mumsnetters favourite hot drinks.

Heres what TASSIMO have to say: "TASSIMO has all your favourite drinks from the brands you love such as Costa, Cadbury, Kenco, Twinings, Milka, Carte Noire and Suchard. With more than 35 different drinks for you to choose from, including classic Cappuccino, Latte Macchiato, Espresso, Hot Chocolate and Tea, yours will be ready at the push of a button. Its as easy as one, two, tea."

So, what are your favourite hot drinks? Do you like to start your day with a latte or cappuccino? Maybe you drink gallons of tea each day? Or do you keep it very simple with the odd espresso?

Are there any coffee shop drinks you wish you could make at home? Perhaps a Latte Macchiato Caramel? Grin Or maybe a hot chocolate topped with marshmallows? Have you ever tried to recreate these at home? Or do you consider them to be an occasional treat? If you're a tea drinker, do you like to stick to your favourite brew or try new varieties?

Whatever your hot drink of choice is, TASSIMO would love to hear about it.

Theyd also love to know whether you have a TASSIMO or whether it has made it onto your wish list. If you have a TASSIMO, tell us what you love about it! Feel free to share any of your TASSIMO recipes from your repertoire.

Everyone who adds their comments to this thread will be entered into a prize draw to win a TASSIMO T20 and 2 packs of T DISCs worth £109.

Please note your comments may be included on TASSIMO's social media channels, and possibly elsewhere, so please only post if you're comfortable with this.

Thanks and good luck,

MNHQ

I do love a good Latte and would love to be able to make them at home. It's too expensive to keep buying them from coffee shops though.

Otherwise, I'm a tea kinda girl throughout the day.

Madamecastafiore · 08/10/2013 14:01

I love a Charbonnel & Walker Hot Chocolate with proper fat milk and a sprinkling of cinnamon on top.

Other than that Gold Blends new Crema coffee is bloody lovely. Our gardener thinks I have proper fresh posh coffee and it is just this lovely scrummy powder!

Lilpickle08 · 08/10/2013 15:44

I like a nice strong coffee in the main, however I do like a Vanilla Latte too (although not too sweet).

When it's really cold and snowy outside, nothing beats a lovely cup of hot chocolate with the kids though, preferably with loads of marshmallows on top :-D

MTBMummy · 08/10/2013 15:51

I used to start the day with a vanilla latte from our canteen, but they changed providers and the beans always tasted burnt after that.

I love espressos, to the point that my neighbor, will always leave his espresso machine loaded and ready for me when ever I have to pop over to let his dogs in/out. I love him a little bit for that.

I tend to only drink tea in the evenings (after 5) and love a homemade chai latte, but I'll only do that if it's just me, as DP really dislikes the smell, if he's around it's gold old Yorkshire gold made from leaf tea in the tea pot.

Hot chocolates are definitely a special treat, but primarily because I make them with evaporated milk, whipped cream melted chocolate (mars bars are great for this) and if I drank that all the time I doubt I'd fit through the door

Hopezibah · 08/10/2013 20:22

nothing beats a hot chocolate after coming in from playing in the snow - all the better if it is made for me by a TASSIMO!

janajos · 08/10/2013 20:39

My drug of choice is definitely caffeine and my day starts with a cafetiere of hot coffee, a good blend (although I am quite promiscuous) , strong and black. I have a nespresso machine and wish that we had bought a tassimo instead as the nespresso capsules are a pain to buy (either London or online!).

I only drink coffee in the morning, but I really do think it was blessed by the 'god of small things' as I am unable to function without it.

lews · 09/10/2013 10:00

I'm a big fan of the cafe cortado - gutted that costa seem to have stopped them. I'll just have to make them myself.

However, life wouldn't be the same without tea!

Tiggles · 09/10/2013 10:16

I bought DH a Senseo coffee maker for Christmas the year before last. He is much more into coffee than I am and he gets through loads of the pods - he's tried lots of the different types of them. Sure he'd be very pleased to get another coffee machine!

Personally I'm happy with English Breakfast tea.

Through advent the kids think it is the biggest treat to have hot chocolate with whipped cream, marshmallows and cinnamon/chocolate sprinkles.

beeelaine · 09/10/2013 10:55

oh yes a tassimo is on my wish list! lol i used to have a coffee machine but since it broke (it was an old one that used to belong to my mother) i dont tend to have as much coffee as i like to have frothy cappicinos and even with normal coffee through the machine it has that frothyness which you just dont get with instant from a jar. I tend to start the day with a cup of tea as I think coffee is better for when you need a real pick me up and i dont need that first thing its mid morning before im wanting that! lol I love hot chocolate too in the evenings but that tends to be in the winter months that i drink that as a comfort thing after being out in the harsh weather, it always used to be cadburys but since they have changed their recipes a little (im sure they have cos they dont taste the same) i tend to buy little sachets from the supermarket because i like to have a variety of tastes. I used to buy some irish coffee beans when the machine was working and that would be my favourite taste of coffee.

gingercat12 · 09/10/2013 13:45

For me nothing can beat a black americano. Normally I start the day with an espresso from a stove top though.

When I first had DS, I asked for a coffee machine as a present, but sadly I did not have time to use it in those first few months.

I do not have a Tassimo, but love one.

SpecialJK · 09/10/2013 15:27

My favourite hot drink is the one that someone else makes for me!

I'm particularly lazy about getting around to boiling the kettle, turning it on, waiting for it to boil, so generally the other half does the honours

I love my lattes and cappuccinos, but at the moment the only way I can get my fix is to use my espresso granules to make some espresso, and then warm the milk in the microwave. As you'll appreciate from my previous comment, this very rarely happens.

I'd love a Tassimo machine so I can even the score with my husband, and do my fair share of tea and coffee making! (he would be most appreciative too)

fossil971 · 09/10/2013 19:52

Tea, ideally Yorkshire tea, with milk. The first cup of the day is especially crucial. Later on I drink black coffee, usually Millicano instant, or Americanos, sometimes decaff.

I never drink milky coffee so Starbucks is a bit of a waste of time for me!

DH likes milky coffee and lattes, although we normally drink instant at home.

We drink quite a bit of green/camomile tea as well.

Since we did our extension, the bedroom is soooo far from the kitchen, we promised ourselves a Tassimo but don't have funds now. I was a close to buying one but I was a bit sceptical about whether the tea is with powdered milk or would resemble revolting Maxpax-type tea in some other way. I was even looking at buying a Teasmaid from ebay, but of course our morning brew is one tea and one coffee.

It would be wonderful to win a Tassimo and it would revolutionise our mornings and also make our bedroom a lovely evening retreat.

magentastardust · 09/10/2013 22:16

Oooh I would love a coffee maker in my Kitchen would feel a real luxury.

I like to start my day with a coffee , I do occasionally have a cup of tea but I am more of a coffee girl.

In winter in the really cold snowy weather the kids and I will come in from the school run and have hot chocolate with marshmallow and cream and the works as a treat.

If I am out in a coffee shop I will have a latte or at xmas time I like the hot chocolates with peppermint shots in them .

bluebump · 09/10/2013 22:31

Tea, I could drink it all day but at work I drink herbal teas as I don't like the way my colleagues make tea (think a tea bag dipped in milk and I like it builders style!)

When I'm out and about I might treat myself to something like a mocha that I can't make at home.

UserError · 10/10/2013 00:04

Our Tassimo isn't getting much use at the moment and I think that's because once the excitement died down (we ordered lots of different drinks to try, directly from the Tassimo website), sometimes we both just prefer a straightforward coffee - kettle on, spoon of instant, splash of milk.

I would like to see more teas please, as I'm mainly an herbal tea drinker. I cottoned on fast to the trick of using the service disk to boil water for a normal tea bag. I also use it for mugs of instant noodles...

Rockinhippy · 10/10/2013 00:18

Good quality columbian strong, black, slightly sweet Coffee for me please

I just cannot start the day without my 2 mugfulls hugged & sipped quietly whilst stroking my cat curled purring on my lap pussy Grin before DD rises & all hell lets loose - I will probably follow that with a 3rd cup just after she has left for school & that sadly is my coffee ration day.

Then it's real jasmine green tea for me until bedtime, when I will enjoy cocoa with a heaped spoonful of Horlicks added to give it a lovely chocolate malt flavour - if I'm feeling sorry for myself I might top it with whipped cream & a chocolate flake :)

Pinklemon · 10/10/2013 22:11

I love drinking pure green tea. It's so refreshing, especially after a heavy meal. For life's little luxuries, I love a large cup of hot milky latte. I'm loving gingerbread latte which is mostly available only around Christmas. So am now drinking cups of it. Bliss!

Bubbles85 · 11/10/2013 07:50

It has to be hot chocolate with marshmallows and cream. Yummy!

CheekyChimpsMummy · 11/10/2013 10:43

Oh my goodness - TASSIMO MILKA

Did I just read that right?!

That would be heaven in a cup! Yum.

Off to boil the kettle for a plain old hot chocolate now, but will try to convince myself that it is Milka Brew

veryconfusedatthemoment · 11/10/2013 12:37

My favourite hot drinks are a M&S extra strong mug of tea first thing, then I move on to proper coffee - usually Italian blend - with a dash of milk or cream. 2 mugs there and then it is tea for the rest of the day. No sugar, no lemon, no flavours, just milk!

Very occasionally I enjoy a hot chocolate. Now DS lurves hot chocolate and we try all sorts for that. Marshmallows too!

I don't have a tassimo - I was very wary of these pod type machines at first because the choice and quality was not good. That has now changed. I need a new machine - existing coffee maker makes cold coffee - yuk :(

telsa · 11/10/2013 17:50

I don't have a TASSIMO.
What I love - well, a Latte. Don't have cappuccino so much anymore. Flat White sometimes.
Afternoons - Twinings do a Camomile and Maple tea that I think is really nice, as is their Buttermint one.
I love Green tea - any sort - to refresh me, and especially the popcorn one. We have a Chinese tea shop near us and I love the varieties they have - including the ones with flowers that open up in your cup.
Also, I love anything with ginger...Thai ginger drinks (with rather a lot of added sugar, unfortunately)
My real treat - usually at a bar in Germany, is warm milykwith a liqueur shot!

SaltySeaBird · 11/10/2013 17:53

I love coffee and drink far too much of it. I just have plain old instant most days but use ground coffee at weekends for a nicer cup!

My favourite is the seasonal Christmas drinks you get from Costa and Starbucks. They are always so sickly and tasty and damn overpriced! I can't resist though.

choccyp1g · 11/10/2013 18:05

I like FILTER coffee rather than espresso style. I make my own straight into the mug using ground coffee (Fair Trade decaffeinated, only available from Oxfam around here) in a lift out plastic filter.

The strange thing is, although it is decaff, it still seems to have the pick-me-up effect in the morning, but doesn't keep me awake all night. Of all the main coffee shops I like Starbucks best, because they do a proper filter coffee, which I have as a "treat". I find if they do me a "decaff" in the machine, it seems to have the keepy-uppy-all-night problem just like real coffee, so I may as well have the real thing once in a while.

In the afternoons I like to drink Twinings decaff Earl Grey tea-bags. Some boxes are better than others, sometimes it tastes more like ordinary tea.

Given that I don't like espresso, if I were to win the fancy coffee maker, I'd donate it to the school fair, and let some-one else have the pleasure.

aaaaagh · 11/10/2013 20:12

Myself and my DTDs became addicted to iced coffee over the summer hols - Starbucks Iced Latte - from the chiller cabinet at the supermarket. It was nicer than the one from Starbucks itself as that wasn't sweetened and the sugar wouldn't dissolve properly and it ended up watery from the ice. I resorted to making our own with instant coffee and bunging it in the freezer. A Tassimo would make this even better - because we could freeze really nice coffee. (I broke the Coffee plunger about 6 months ago)

LoganMummy · 11/10/2013 20:18

I love a Costa gingerbread latte - it's my favourite drink ever! I only allow myself it as a treat in December to keep it special. The only problem is it is so expensive - the cost of that one coffee could be spent on a two course home cooked meal for our family.

I've tried making it at home but it's never the same.
