TalkTalk want to hear your recommendations for TV programmes and boxsets that you or your children have been gripped by recently. They've just launched YouView which should make it easier to catch the best bits of recent telly as well as old classics. Here's what they say about it:

"YouView is a groundbreaking new TV service now available to all TalkTalk customers. We have joined forces with the BBC, ITV, Channel 4 and Channel 5 to create a new way of watching TV. YouView allows access to the best On Demand content, an ability to record and rewind live TV and search through thousands of hours of great TV with ease. This month's TV gift from TalkTalk includes some old favourites like Grey's Anatomy, The Tudors, and Friends, as well as Peppa Pig, Bob the Builder and Pingu for the DCs."

What's the best TV series you've ever watched?

Is there anything on at the moment/has there been anything recently that you're particularly glued to?

Are there any programmes you're using this half term to keep your DCs entertained?

Please share any recommendations you have for can't miss shows. Everyone who posts on this thread will be entered into a prize draw to win a £200 Love2Shop voucher.

Thanks and good luck with the prize draw

Best ever sopranos

Latest things I like; the killing, breaking bad, mad men

DS likes peppa pig and things with Justin in. Although he'd rather watch cars 2 and the muppets.

I've been glued to the screen when Brain Doctors is on; the third and last in the series is tonight at 9 BBC2. It was filmed at the neurosurgical department of the John Radcliffe in Oxford and Mr Jay Jayamohan is undoubtedly the star of the show. What I like is that it doesn't aim to be your typical tear-jerking, switch-to-long-corridor-shot documentary. It balances the life/death issues with Jay's iPhone playlist habits and a bit of hotty Tim Lawrence, surgical registrar on the side.
I wish there were more!

I have a few things on the go: Walking Dead, Girls and Game of Thrones (can't wait till it starts back!) and I also watch Homeland when it's on.

Also re-doing box set of Heroes as don't really remember it but vaguely remember enjoying it!

DD is 3 and we don't let her watch much TV - it's mostly films. Disney, some adventure ones like Jumanji or animated features.

Best TV series I've ever watched has to be the Scottish comedy 'Still Game'. Could bring a tear to a glass eye that one!

What's the best TV series you've ever watched?

It was 'life on mars' really gripping although a bit rubbish ending to the final series. Always love 'torchwood' too.

Is there anything on at the moment/has there been anything recently that you're particularly glued to?

I am loving 'mr selfridge' but love any costume drama like downton Abby. Am a sucker for slimming programmes like us biggest loser and also america's next top model.

Are there any programmes you're using this half term to keep your DCs entertained?
Dd loves the Simpsons but we are just watching various kids films like the old asterix ones, disney classics and scooby doo.

Can I just ask for a rerun of 'beast' an oldish comedy based on a vet who hated animals - so funny!

Also loved homeland and an idiot abroad.

Best Series - Our Friends in the North

Also enjoy House, Buffy, Bones, CSI

Would love to see re runs of Boys from the Blackstuff and Phoenix Nights.

I rarely watch live television, I usually Tivo what I want to watch. I hate having to wait until a certain time for a certain programme. If it is a repeat series I like to have all of them together and watch when I want to watch

I also want to be able to see an advert for a program and press record series from the advert, not go clunking through pages of programmes and dates until I can find it

Best TV series? Sherlock.

I seem to have a lot of The Middle recorded. And Modern Family.

The teenagers love Arrow and Hawaii 5 O. (Except they get really annoyed when I start ba ba baaing the theme tune). They also like Waterloo Road- although in a kind of laughably ridiculous way.

Great British Bake Off, Call the Midwife and Miranda are my faves.

Oh and DD (11) would be happy with Toddlers and Tiaras on 24/7 Hmm

Gavin & Stacy and Early Doors for comedy.

Homeland is the best drama I've watched recently; also loved Mistresses a couple of years back.

Best ever? That's a tough one. This Life......Cold Feet........ER..........The Good Wife.....? I'll no doubt think of more soon.

The DDs love watching stuff on Catch Up - current faves are Tracy Beaker, Young Dracula, Dani's Castle.

I love Lewis. Adore it. Also enjoy Grey's Anatomy, Midsommer Murders, QI, Mock The Week, Big Bang Theory, Sherlock, Bones, House and Call The Midwife.

Currently addicted to a wonderfully shite American series called Pretty Little Liars.

DS - 3 - in love with Fireman Sam, old style Thomas The Tank, Postman Pat and the fucking Octonaughts.

I loved and still love the BBC's Sunday teatime drama's recently that's been things like Robin Hood and Merlin which have been a bit more grown up than the one's I remember as a child. They were The Lion the Witch and the Wardrobe, The box of delights, The Borrowers. There was also the Snow Spider Trilogy which I thought was amazing.
The stuff that's on my digibox has been things like Miranda or Outnumbered, stuff that I enjoy but am often unable to watch.
The children have just started watching films so I record those onto the box too. Anything Disney but some of my favourites like Night at the Museum or Home Alone too.

I mainly watch films. None of the current American series grab me. Too long and repetitive ie Walking Dead. I'd rather spend a couple of hours watching a thrilling film than watch a scant plot unfold over months on end.

I love The Hotel, perfect Sunday evening harmless viewing.

I'd like to watch Quantum Leap in order again. I loved it.

I love watching NCIS, NCIS LA, CSI, CSI NY, Criminal Minds, How I Met Your Mother, Big Bang Theory, Bones, Lewis, Call the Midwife, GBBO, Got to Dance and Falling Skies.

In the past I have loved Friends, Life Goes On, Gavin and Stacey, Coupling, Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Chuck.

The DC love Phineas and Ferb, Pokemon, Tom and Jerry and Looney Tunes.

Best TV series ever - the original House of Cards was brilliantly filmed and gripping. I adored This Life too but having re-watched an episode recently it hasn't aged well.

At the moment - Holby City is all I need from a weekly soapy medical drama. Attenborough's current Africa series is tear-makingly lovely and doesn't fall into the patronising anthropomorphism of other recent wildlife productions.

This half term my three year old has discovered re-runs of Takeshi's Castle on Challenge and found it the funniest thing since a jelly-filled whoopee cushion.
