TalkTalk want to hear your recommendations for TV programmes and boxsets that you or your children have been gripped by recently. They've just launched YouView which should make it easier to catch the best bits of recent telly as well as old classics. Here's what they say about it:

"YouView is a groundbreaking new TV service now available to all TalkTalk customers. We have joined forces with the BBC, ITV, Channel 4 and Channel 5 to create a new way of watching TV. YouView allows access to the best On Demand content, an ability to record and rewind live TV and search through thousands of hours of great TV with ease. This month's TV gift from TalkTalk includes some old favourites like Grey's Anatomy, The Tudors, and Friends, as well as Peppa Pig, Bob the Builder and Pingu for the DCs."

What's the best TV series you've ever watched?

Is there anything on at the moment/has there been anything recently that you're particularly glued to?

Are there any programmes you're using this half term to keep your DCs entertained?

Please share any recommendations you have for can't miss shows. Everyone who posts on this thread will be entered into a prize draw to win a £200 Love2Shop voucher.

Thanks and good luck with the prize draw

DD is currently addicted to Toy Story 1, 2, and 3

I would love to be able to access old shows like Holby City and Casualty from Series 1. Soldier Soldier, Survivors 1 and 2 (latest version) , The Last Train. BH90210 the original series and the new one. Home and Away and Eastenders. Old mini series like Band of Gold, Flambards, old ITV short drama series.

At the moment I Sky+ old episodes of The Bill and Casualty every day, along with Footballers Wives. I record a lot of films to watch too. Call The Midwife is good too. Also loved Land Girls

The best: The Wire, Alan Bleasedale's GBH, The Singing Detective, Nighty Night, Marion and Geoff, Edge of Darkness (fabulously paranoid 80s nuclear drama but just brilliant. I never would have thought a man kissing a dildo would be so poignant although I remember my brother's jaw just dropping open Grin)

Recently: Spiral, Borgen, The Killing - BBC4 Saturday night - heaven for a single parent who doesn't get out much!

Children's: DD currently addicted to (and i mean truly addicted to) CBeebies Let's Play.

What's the best:

ER, This Life (which Virgin have amazingly put on this week, hurrah!), Ashes to Ashes/Life on Mars. Could watch them all over and over again

At the moment:

Not much other than Being Human. hence revisiting all the old stuff I love. I really w nated to watch Call the Midwife when it first came out and didn't. Now the second series is on I feel I have missed the boat.

Are there any programmes you're using this half term to keep your DCs entertained?

DS is loving Adventure Time, Phineas and Ferb and The Amazing World of Gumball. Really funny cartoons which I don't mind him watching as they are equally 'cleaver funny' and properly mad (Adventure Time is like someone's acid trip commissioned by Cartoon Network)

Any thriller/murder mystery who-dunnits are usually a hit.

Obviously those are mine and Dh's choices! DD likes mr tumble, show me show me, mr bloom's nursery :)

Best tv series has got to be friends. A few others have come close but I could spend all day watching repeats. I love that show.

I love 'reality' shows at the moment: real housewives of oc, the hotel, one born every minute.
I also watch corrie when dd lets me.

Dd doesn't really watch tv much, we tend to have music on but I do sit with her and watch mr tumble/Justin as we use sign with her.

No debate: best series ever is The West Wing.

More recently Borgen has grabbed our attention as "must watch" viewing.

Doctor Who is our family viewing and we have all the recent series.

As ds has grown older (he's now 12) we've also started watching NCIS altogether and have ended up buying all the boxed sets. While watching them, we will often discuss the more adult themes.

Dancing on the edge, Ripper Street and Mr Selfridge are about the only things that I go out of my way to watch.

Used to love: Downton, Smash, ER (a long, long time ago).

DC like: Disney films, mostly Blush

All of these on demand services are sod all use to those of us who don't live in cities and can't get decent broadband though Sad

DP and I have always had 'our' programmes, the ones we've always watched together and never missed - 24, Lost, Desperate Housewives (DP loved it!) and more recently Homeland.
DS (17 yrs) loves Fresh Meat, Mock the Week but generally watches TV/Movies online or on catch-up
DD (7yrs) loves Horrible Histories and I limit the amount of, IMO, awful American series like Victorious that she watches.
I'm currently enjoying the latest series of Being Human and Glee Blush

I don't really get time to watch TV, there is always paperwork to be done, but I loved Downton, yet to watch Call the midwife, ended up buying the box series for £5 in Morrisons. I thought Mr Selfridge would be good, but hated it instantly!

The children don't have any television, not even DVDs, there is no TV available for them to watch, the older ones s young adults watch very little too, mainly catch up on their computers

I love any fly on the wall stuff, but I record it and never watch it!

We re-watch the whole of the West Wing and Bones every year and are starting to do the same with Big Bang Theory, The Sopranos and the Shield. Of what has been on television lately I'd happily re-watch Ripper Street which has been excellent, NCIS which I love and Homeland. My six year old loves to watch Guy's Big Bite and Diners Drive Ins and Dives over and over again as well as all the Hairy Bikers shows and Time Team. He also watches Harry Potter every time its on and the re-runs of Dr Who. Backyard Science and Kid Detectives are big favourites and are programmes that I am happy for him to watch.

Dr Who and Downton Abbey are my must sees. I quite like Call the Midwife and Miranda too. Ooh and Big Bang Theory! Loved ER back in the day.
DD is only 18 months and doesn't really watch telly although she would happily watch ITNG all day if I let her.

My current favourites are NCIS:LA, NCIS, Criminal minds, all flavours of Law & Order and CSI, Bones, Glee, Expert Makeover Home Edition, lots of the home improvement ones. Older things loved include Buffy, Charmed, Grey's Anatomy, the one with Matt thingy from Friends acting as himself.

DH's current favourites are Midsommer Murders, Lewis, Poirot with David Suchet and actually most things Agatha Christie, Boston Legal, Rugby Club and any rugby matches and question time.

We both love the Mentalist, QI, Big Bang, and I'm sure there are more. Also all sorts of documentaries - Howard Goodhall on history of music was fab, there was a great one on the history of maths and stats recently that was good, another one about the Google and their vision for a world brain that happened to include them gaining copyright to all out of print and out of copyright books in the world Hmm.

All time joint favourite was Couplings - very funny.

DC's favourites are Phineas and Ferb, Scooby Doo, Tom & Jerry, Asterix and TinTin films, Art Attack, Cat in the Hat (and 64 Zoo Lane for calming down before bed, not that they admit it anymore!)

DC1 (7) also likes Deadly 60, GBBO, all sorts of documentary programmes (aimed at kids or adults) on nature, cars, how things are made, history especially if it involves stuff he's doing at school (currently Egyptians and Ancient Greece).

DC2 (4) also loves things like Mickey Mouse Clubhouse, Alphablocks/NumTums/Get Squiggling letters, Jake and the Neverland Pirates, Doc McStuffins, Spongebob and Handy Manny.

I don't really like them watching things like Ben 10, Spiderman, Pokemon, Transformers, PowerRangers etc - not least because they then tend to re-enact and play at these, which invariably leads to them playfighting and somebody getting hurt. DC2 in particular has a habit of ending up very inspired by the kung fu type moves - which is not so good when you end up on the receiving end of them!

Half term here and both dc are sick. It has been wall to wall kids' television. Ds is 4 and loves Ben 10, Adventure Time, Splatalot; he will also watch You've Been Framed for hours. Dd is 18mo and likes Peppa Pig, ITNG. Tree Fu Tom is a hit with both of them.

Dh and I have just finished s1 of Game of Thrones, which was excellent and more than lived up to the books. Otherw

I loved the Great British Bake Off, including the Master Classes. The new Sherlock Holmes series was quite good.

There doesn't seem to be much on that excites me at the moment.

My DC are 2.5 years old and 9 months old. Neither are particularly into TV. The programmes we watch every now and then are In the Night Garden, Raa Raa and Zing Zillas.

I think the best series I have ever watched (or the one that has stayed with me for a long time) is This Life. I was a innocent teenager when it was on - it was certainly very informative!

At the moment my two favourite series are OBEM and Call the Midwife. Although they make me broody so it will probably be a blessing in disguise when they are finished Smile

Anything with Justin Fletcher keeps DD entertained... I tell myself that Something Special is educational and inclusive so it can't be too bad to have lots of them recorded to get half an hour of peace when I need it!
