TalkTalk want to hear your recommendations for TV programmes and boxsets that you or your children have been gripped by recently. They've just launched YouView which should make it easier to catch the best bits of recent telly as well as old classics. Here's what they say about it:

"YouView is a groundbreaking new TV service now available to all TalkTalk customers. We have joined forces with the BBC, ITV, Channel 4 and Channel 5 to create a new way of watching TV. YouView allows access to the best On Demand content, an ability to record and rewind live TV and search through thousands of hours of great TV with ease. This month's TV gift from TalkTalk includes some old favourites like Grey's Anatomy, The Tudors, and Friends, as well as Peppa Pig, Bob the Builder and Pingu for the DCs."

What's the best TV series you've ever watched?

Is there anything on at the moment/has there been anything recently that you're particularly glued to?

Are there any programmes you're using this half term to keep your DCs entertained?

Please share any recommendations you have for can't miss shows. Everyone who posts on this thread will be entered into a prize draw to win a £200 Love2Shop voucher.

Thanks and good luck with the prize draw

Loads of really good stuff on!

Recently enjoyed/enjoying:
Shetland
Ripper Street
Borgen
The Killing
Homeland
Big Bang Theory (though cant stand AFF)
Sherlock
Africa
Downton Abbey

Less recent but in my top ten or so:
24
Lost
Prison Break
Spartacus
Dexter
Green Wing
Scrubs
SATC
Friends
Game of Thrones
All the CSIs apart from the British one
Law and Order
Seinfeld
Frasier
The Simpsons
Family Guy
Southpark
X-Files
Whose Line Is It Anyway (American version is better than the British, IMO)

I need to watch The West Wing, Grey's Anatomy, House and Twin Peaks! I've seen the first episodes of all of them, and know I'd like the whole series. Oh, and Desperate Housewives.

DS is 2.5 and likes Dora The Explorer, and Diego; Chuggington, Numtums, and Alphablocks.

We only ever watch things on catch up/iPlayer etc.

We hardly watch live TV now to be honest - we have Sky+. We'd be keen to switch to another supplier too except DH watches NFL which is only on Sky Sports 3 - not available on any other service :(
We loved Homeland recently, and are currently watching Alphas and The Following. We're keen to see what Broadchurch is like, and we also can't wait for the next series of Game of Thrones.
Other than that we don't tend to keep up with many series...
Only one of mine is old enough to watch much TV but other than Justin's House, we tend to use DVDs for him rather than live TV.

Friends was probably my most watched ever show. As my life has moved on, I now love The Middle as it makes me feel the same way Friends did when I was younger. Currently on my series link is Call The Midwife, One Born Every Minute and Derek. TV is a constant battle with the 4 DC as they range between 11 and 3 and so all want to watch different things. Horrible Histories is generally a favourite though.

What's the best TV series you've ever watched?
I really enjoyed Lost, until it started getting silly and I lost the plot.

Is there anything on at the moment/has there been anything recently that you're particularly glued to?
Flashpoint. Love it, I think it it is really cleverly made and it is my treat weekly.

Are there any programmes you're using this half term to keep your DCs entertained?
Jake and the neverland Pirates in this house!

NCIS, Big Bang Theory, How I met Your Mother
Castle, Ripper Street, 24, Homeland
Revenge, Ugly Betty

All the above are popular with us all (2 teens + 2adults) along with most cookery shows.

DCs like Dr Who, Glee and Merlin as well

I love call the midwife and one born every minute. I also have a shameful addiction to 'The Real Housewives of...' And m currently watching the Beverley Hills series. I would love to be able to watch all the different series on demand.

I also always watch friends when there is nothing else on. I know it's old, and I've seen every episode more than once, but I still love it!

We were big fans of spooks, and more recently enjoyed homeland. I love the great British bake off, and my husband will watch any of the property programmes - grand designs, location etc - repeatedly. Oh, and silent witness we like too.

The children don't watch much at all, but the odd episode of peppa which we have recorded, or Ben and Holly sometimes helps in the afternoon when they're really tired.

There doesn't seem to be much good on at the moment at all, so we are watching films that we recorded over Christmas.

The children just.never.sleep, so I've not watched anything that's not 'suitable' in ages. I managed to watch most of the last series of A Game of Thrones, but I'm not sure I'm actually interested in it. And I've seen Downton Abbey, which I rate as 'so bad it's good'.

This thread is pretty much a big long list of 'things I've heard of but will not see for 5 years, if ever.'

My favourite series by far recently was Homeland. I missed it first time round and sky+ the whole first and second series and watched them like a box set.
We all like Rizzoli and Isles and the Good Wife. The quiz with Claire Baldwin was also a hit with all the family.
I never watch live tv, pre record everything. Even if it's actually on the same night we will record and give it "wind" time to avoid ads.

Favorite programmes at the mo are:

The Walking Dead
Glee
Sparticus (sp)
Bones
Suits
How I Met Your Mother
Vampire Diaries
Blue Bloods
The New Normal

We also loved Homeland, True Blood, Grimm, Castle and Modern Family

DD's favorites clogging up the sky box are Dora the Explorer, Peppa Pig, Bubble Guppies and Team Umizoomi.

We prefer to record programmes than watch them live so we don't have to put up with adverts.

I tell you what I remember that I loved. It was only ever shown the once and disappeared without trace. I don't even know if it was as good as I remember it.

maelstrom.

I've often wanted to see it again but no channel has ever shown it.

Ken that is cool. Useful if you forgot to record something I guess. Does it show everything though? I thought there was a reason why some programmes broadcast on BBC aren't allowed to go on iplayer, for example.

Without doubt the best series I have ever watched has to be The Soprano's - utterly gripping.

At the moment we are watching People like us (BBC3), the documentary about Aylsbury young offenders unit, and the usual stuff come dine with me etc.

DS loves wonder pets and scobby do!
