TalkTalk want to hear your recommendations for TV programmes and boxsets that you or your children have been gripped by recently. They've just launched YouView which should make it easier to catch the best bits of recent telly as well as old classics. Here's what they say about it:

"YouView is a groundbreaking new TV service now available to all TalkTalk customers. We have joined forces with the BBC, ITV, Channel 4 and Channel 5 to create a new way of watching TV. YouView allows access to the best On Demand content, an ability to record and rewind live TV and search through thousands of hours of great TV with ease. This month's TV gift from TalkTalk includes some old favourites like Grey's Anatomy, The Tudors, and Friends, as well as Peppa Pig, Bob the Builder and Pingu for the DCs."

What's the best TV series you've ever watched?

Is there anything on at the moment/has there been anything recently that you're particularly glued to?

Are there any programmes you're using this half term to keep your DCs entertained?

Please share any recommendations you have for can't miss shows. Everyone who posts on this thread will be entered into a prize draw to win a £200 Love2Shop voucher.

Thanks and good luck with the prize draw

Ok so loving the Channel 4 dramas of Utopia and Charlie Brooker's Black Mirror. Both dh and I sit down to watch these and have been gripped by them so far.

The best TV series I've ever watched? Well now that's a tall order as my tastes have changed over the years. I wouldn't mind watching these classics again:

Moonlighting
The X Files
Sledgehammer
Phoenix Nights
V
All the old Doctor Who episodes

I never see those on repeat and would love to see them again.

I can't wait for the new series of Sherlock and both dd and I love watching Doctor Who.
You know what, thinking of those old classics and certainly the way Doctor Who was heading with David Tennant - don't you think that these classics are brilliant when they are original and new and ground breaking but the thing that lets each of them down is when they stop focusing on monsters and mysteries and start focusing on relationships. That's when it gets boring and sort of just fizzles out. Moonlighting went that way as did X Files and V and Doctor Who was getting there with Billie bloody Piper. So if you're listening producers and directors - we watch these series precisely because there is no relationship shite in there. We WANT monsters and mysteries and aliens. If we wanted to see blossoming relationships and soul searching we'd watch bloody soap operas!

Oh yeah, far too many soap operas. I really don't care for them.

For the kids I much prefer educational shows. They love watching:
Blue Peter
Newsround
Kids dramas (like Sarah Jane Adventures)
Deadly 60
Art Attack (what happened to that series?)

They are no longer interested in cartoons or Peppa bloody Pig thank goodness. They want to watch something gripping, something intelligent that really captures their imaginations.

I'd also love to see some of the old kids movies repeated like:
Stand By Me
The Goonies
Labyrinth
The Railway Children
The Secret Garden
Tom's Midnight Garden

It would be nice to see some 70s and 80s series re-run too so that adults can have a bit of nostalgia whilst the kids get entertained. Someone mentioned He-Man, then there's Fraggle Rock, Ren & Stimpy, Inspector Gadget, The Bionic Man, Knight Rider, Wonder Woman, etc.

And Candid Camera - remember that? I'd love to watch those again!

Currently watching and loving Breaking Bad but I cannot praise "Love Hate" enough, a fantastic but violent Irish series with a very good looking cast. DH & I were glued to 3 series and can't wait for more! 2 year old DD likes the Simpsons for the bright colours, we watch it together as there is only so much CBEEBIES that I can stomach

Love Call The Midwife, The West Wing, anything by David Attenborough.

Quite like Doctor Who and Outnumbered for some light relief, and enjoyed Homeland. The Killing was good.

YY to whoever said old kids films - Railway Children, Secret Garden, A Little Princess, that sort of thing. I'd love that. (I don't have children, I'm just a bit of a loser.)

DP and I are also a little bit addicted to Sun, Sex, and Suspicious Parents Blush We love it.

We never watch live tv, we always use iplayer or whatnot.

I'm enjoying Death in Paradise at the moment, also watching Top Gear with DS & DH while my DDs watch Call the Midwife.

On my own I like 30 Rock, I love Tina Fey's character. I'm a big fan of US sit coms. My DD1 likes Pretty Little Liars & Modern Family as well as Call the Midwife & Great British Bake Off. DD2 prefers programs on the Disney Channel but I can't remember what they are called as I try to avoid them. DS who is 13 doesn't like TV & doesn't watch anything apart from Top Gear which he watches while playing on a laptop.

Years ago I liked MASH, Friends, Dharma & Greg, Will & Grace, Moonlighting, LA Law & going back even further I liked Dukes of Hazard & the Waltons.

I spent my childhood watching TV - hours and hours a day.

DH only watches Top Gear - not a fan of TV more of a reader.

I've got the entire box set of West Wing and MASH has been on my wishlist for a while. Oh, and I have all the Mad Men too.

DS mostly watches films but his favourite TV programme of the moment is Tree Fu Tom.

best ever - there's a lot but i reckon it would have to be six feet under.

currently i'm watching 'enlightened' and 'white collar' and of the walking dead is back on now. fringe is finished Sad supernatural is back on. once upon a time is watchable and mostly child friendly too. light comedy wise whitney, new girl, cougar town - have to have the odd cheesey sitcoms to get a break from crime, zombies and monsters Wink

the hour was great but cancelled. newsroom - can't wait for the next season as i really enjoyed it. being human was ace and i'm now watching the american version. misfits good in the early series not so much later. what else?

ooh i loved saving grace and the other one about a girl who met her angel and had to learn lessons and i can't remember what it was called Hmm

i like the good wife. breaking bad (though gone a bit dark even for me now). oh and dexter of course!

Best series ever was, and always will be The West Wing
Until we got BT Vision we had a hard disc recorder, which was the best thing we have ever bought. We now watch very little live TV as we record stuff on the BT vision box. The only live TV we watch is sport. Oh and the BBC Penguin programme, which is superb.

Must watches for us are Call the Midwife, Ripper Street, DIY SOS, all home programmes (Location, Location, etc) Silent Witness, Law and Order UK and DH likes Revenge. My guilty pleasure is Homes under the Hammer, which I watch on catch up as I work during the day.

We've just brought the boxed set of the first three series of Breaking Bad on the recommendation of our American relatives.

DD loves Timmy Time.

Best series definitely Breaking Bad, closely followed by Weeds (no deliberate theme there!).

At the moment I'm watching Brain Doctors avidly and rewatching The Office USA.

DS is still in utero so he's not watching anything yet!

We like the Black Adder and Fawlty Towers boxsets. And dd, who is 15 and ought to know better, likes Adventure Time and Scooby Doo!

Drama / Detective stuff such as "The Following" "Lewis" and "Death In Paradise" and still occasionally Bones and Criminal Minds. We love, and never miss, Dr Who, Top Gear and all the Attenborough documentaries as well as Top Gear, Have I Got News and QI. We enjoy a lot of films. The children watch some of these with us (High School age) but also watch Big Bang Theory and lots of old films that we recommend.

I have started watching Numbers; quite easy to watch. I like Rookie Blue also and am waiting for The Mentalist to come back, there has to be an end in site. Little Einsteins is one of the few my children will watch together, my littlest likes Peppa Pig and Bob the Builder, but the non toddlers are less keen.

Recommendations - Boston Legal and Damages; series one of Damages was excellent.
