As part of Estée Lauder's Drops of Advice campaign, they've asked us to find out about the best pearls of beauty wisdom you've ever received - what were they and who were they from? What wonders has the advice done for your skin/hair/nails/whatever?! If you had to give a younger version of yourself some beauty advice, what would it be? It could be something like 'get more sleep'(!) or something more elaborate involving slapping the contents of your kitchen cupboard on your face in a homemade face pack?! Either way, please do share!

Everyone who adds a comment to this thread will be entered into a prize draw to win 1 of 15 bottles of Advanced Night Repair (30ml, RRP £41). That's a lot of prizes up for grabs! Please note that you have to be aged 18+ years to take part in the prize draw.

Mumsnet is promoting this sponsored discussion thread on behalf of Estée Lauder. The thread will be open until Friday 27th April, when we will close it, do the prize draw and notify the winners on that day. The winners' details will then be sent to Estée Lauder so the prizes can be sent out. Please only add your comments if you're happy for us to pass on your details to Estée Lauder in the event that you win the prize draw. We will only pass on the prize winners' details, and these will only be used for the purposes of sending out the prizes.

Thanks and good luck with the prize draw

PS If you don't win this one then the folks at Estée Lauder are also running a 'Drops of Advice' competition on //www.esteelauder.co.uk/dropsofadvice/index.tmpl where you have an additional chance to win a product and a night in a 5* hotel for two. For more information please visit //www.esteelauder.co.uk. Terms apply. Closing date 29/12/2012.

Drink plenty of water (8 pints a day). I try to do this and really notice the difference when I manage it more than a few days in a row.

For hair - I never straighten it and rarely blowdry it. I wash and condition every time (separate conditioner) and often have positive comments from hairdressers.

Also - using a deeply moisturising facial mask as a night cream - advice from a friend, it really works for me!

My friend told me about having having eyebrows shaped and tinted-really lifts the face.
I would have told my younger self not to sunbathe or use sun beds and also put sunscreen on my hands.

Make sure your sun cream also has a high UVA rating, this is what protects against ageing.
Always take off your make up before bed, no matter how tired you are!
Do not be afraid to see your GP about problem skin, you may not 'grow out of it'

moisturise your neck and chest as you do your face, don't forget your hands too

If your face looks tired, moisturise it liberally and get 8 hours sleep. The result is a much happier face.

Spend money on a decent foundation, you can scrimp on other things but never foundation.

Sleep. The greatest treat you can give your skin is to stop watching late night TV and sleep.

Healthy diet with lots of fruit and veg and a vitamin supplement, regular heart-pumping exercise and fresh air, and sufficient sleep. Quality foundation and powder.

Massage cleanser into your face, scrub it off gently with a cloth, splash icy cold water on, massage oil or serums into your face, then massage moisturiser into your face. Glowing skin will be yours!

Products are important but it's the way you use them that really counts, and not just saving pampering rituals for special occasions or the salon - your skin will thank you.

Use a moisturiser with SPF. Keep a nude lipgloss in every handbag. Don't massacre your eyebrows! (learned this in the 70s when my mother's brows didn't recover). And smile :)

Eat as well as you can & include plenty of fatty fish in your diet. What you consume internally has more impact than anything your apply externally.

Every time you apply hand cream, rub some into your elbows to prevent dry crinkly elbow skin. A good tip for summer when short sleeves show off those crepey bits.

Eyes or lips, but not both. Dont gild the lily.

On baby DS, only ever used olive oil in the bath and to mosturuse and he has the best skin ever!

Put most effort into the Party Triangle.

Just incase you don't know, the Party Triangle is an imaginary triangle that encOmpasses hair, face, ears, neck, and ends somewhere between your boObs. This is the area that most people spend most time looking at during a party.

Ok, maybe not the best advice ever, but quite funnily-named.

Always remove your make-up before you go to bed, no matter how drunk you are. You will be glad you did in the morning.

Protect your skin from the sun to prevent premature ageing, especially when pregnant.

Moisturise, moisturise, moisturise.

Well groomed eyebrows give shape and definition to the face better than anything else.

Use eyelash curlers and spot blusher under your chin to disguise a saggy or double chin.

I would tell my younger self never to use sunbeds and as a fair skinned redhead not to copy the girls in high school who used baby oil to sunbathe Blush

These days I feel I look my best with primer, blusher and mascara on my very fair lashes
