I have noticed it in the last few days, people getting a bashing.
nasty vile threads....

MN is quite anti a lot of things at the moment. I think you notice the things you are affected by IYSWIM.

I have seem some pretty ignorant comments about provision for children with SN today though

StarOfValkyrie · 23/06/2010 22:40

oh no, that londonone was always anti-sn. don't worry about her.

tbh, stress and recession etc does reduce people's generosity and fear and insecurity about themselves can result in a lot of projection. perhaps that is what has happened.

IndigoBell · 23/06/2010 22:40

Yes. I've definately noticed some.

There's a shocking dyslexia thread going on at the moment. (A SENCO who doesn't believe in dyslexia - according to her all reading problems are down to kids not being taught synthetic phonics properly when they were in reception)

I wish I could just ignore all those nasty ignorant people who I wouldn't get on with in real life at all. But it's still upsetting. Especially when you know most some of the people you meet in real life are like that...

silverfrog · 23/06/2010 22:43

I was just going to post wot Star said. Lots of people stressed, not bothering to moderate comments as they usually would. lashing out, especially if they think sn children are getting something their dc are not...

'twas ever thus - how manytimes have people here on SN boards had comments about being "lucky" to get DLA, or a mobility car, etc?

2shoes · 23/06/2010 22:49

i know, but it isn't on is it?
the comments are horrid

OP posts:
silverfrog · 23/06/2010 22:52

no, it's not on - not as though our lives aren't hard enough, is it?

is it the school bus thread you'e thinking of? because there are some right idiots on there - trying to insist that OP is totally unreasonable because she left her front door unlocked... yeah, that completely negates the need ofr her dd to be supervised at all times, doesn't it?!

2shoes · 23/06/2010 22:58

that one, the one in poltics, the one the other day about restaurants....

OP posts:
silverfrog · 23/06/2010 23:10

yep, read them all (sadly)

there are a lot of people out there very quick to judge

claw3 · 24/06/2010 00:16

I dont venture off of the SN section these days, so havent noticed.

Its nice and cosy in here, i dont want to go out into the big bad MN sections!

silverfrog · 24/06/2010 00:22

didn't you get torn apart over one of your older ds' shoes once, claw? I seem to remember an AIBU that went 'orribly wrong

StarOfValkyrie · 24/06/2010 00:25

You know what, that thread of LL is awful for some of the idiot comments, but actually it is quite heartening to see the number of posters that come to her defense

claw3 · 24/06/2010 00:33

Siver, lol i have been torn apart quite a few times, i used to find the AIBU quite amusing. Funny how some people get their knickers in a twist over some pretty trivial issues. The novelty has worn off

silverfrog · 24/06/2010 01:01

The novelty does wear off, I agree. I need to learn to keep off vax threads...

claw3 · 24/06/2010 01:09

I just clicked on one AIBU about SN's and saw what you mean. I was tempted to post, but didnt.

Dont usually bother even reading any other sections, but this one. I will stick to that i think.

claw3 · 24/06/2010 01:28

I had to post, now that i had read the thread!

No more wandering for me

colditz · 24/06/2010 01:59

It's several factors.

Budget cuts are making everyone feel the squeeze. People with Sn kids are living the life of riley, don'tcher know, it's not like their kids cost any more to feed and why should they get a free car? they got a wheel chair, innit? that kid in our Barry's class can walk and everything and his mum puts him in a taxi every day, and there's some woman who sits in the back and she takes him right into school, well, wouldn't we all like that? Just cos he's naughty in class. She wants to watch that supernanny. I don't think there's owt wrong with 'im, they only do it for the money, don't they? Them doctor's'll label anyone. If I'd run away from school cos the lunch hall was too noisy, my mum would've smacked my arse.

ETC

they don't SAY it, cos they know, deep down, that they're jealous little pricks who would get lynched in seconds - but the thought process is what is behind it.

roundthebend4 · 24/06/2010 05:21

I've noticed this as well but then I'm not very good at keeping quiet or very polictally correct to

TotalChaos · 24/06/2010 07:38

I agree with Star and others - that with the economy in a tailspin some people/posters veneer of civilisation is wearing awfully thin. It's not just SN stuff - though yes there have been some dreadful comments recently - anyone who has expressed concerning about losing tax credits is cast by some as feckless for having any sort of reliance on state money for looking after their kids

roundthebend4 · 24/06/2010 08:58

Yep lol I been tripled slam on a few single parent on benefits and a child with Sn how dare I voice a. Opionion

cory · 24/06/2010 09:17

It'll soon be like being back in the 80s- everybody very tense and blaming everybody else.

5inthebackofthenet · 24/06/2010 09:29

YANBU, it's getting quite scary on the boards re SN.

rebl · 24/06/2010 09:33

Definatly. I'm sitting here reading all these horrible comments and wondering if this is what people are actually thinking at school about my DS. People are personnally attacking a lot at the moment and they seem to think its OK.

glittery · 24/06/2010 09:59

Have noticed these ones lately but dont venture off SN too often so usually miss this sort of stuff, made the mistake of popping into politics the other day and thought it got way too off topic and nasty!
you should all come over to SKITUK we're all too busy planning get togethers to slag anyone off!

5inthebackofthenet · 24/06/2010 10:17

Glittery, I've tried SKITUK, and it's very hard to get on with. Might have to have another look, if I can remember my nickname/password.

shimmerysilverglitter · 24/06/2010 10:24

Agree. But been going on for a while though hasn't it? And not just on here, I am fast discovering that is absolutely everywhere, just started my own thread about how bad things are in RL for ds before reading this onehere
