Many on here struggle to find a suitable school for their dc, with various dx & some without a dx... Anyway....
Here in Suffolk where the houses are pretty cheap, we have the countryside & the beach & its flat (for all the w/chair users) they are closing all the middle schools - so - my plan is.
You all move to sunny suffolk & we open a MN fully inclusive ASD, CP, GDD, Epilepsy, just a little bit quirky (add any dx) & NT if they want to come, School.

will you do hearing and vision impairments too? If so I'm in

roundthebend4 · 07/06/2010 17:14

Dam I'd have to trek back across countys again lol

anonandlikeit · 07/06/2010 17:14

OH yes, no entry criterea just individualised learning to meet the needs of the child & thier family.
No preconcieved ideas on ability based on dx No trying to force square pegs in to round holes.
Just loving nurturing environment where the family, staff & outside agencies work together to help the child to learn.

I'm off to rightmove Suffolk

Al1son · 07/06/2010 17:20

Square pegs for square holes? Sounds fantastic! Count me in. Can I work in the Early Years bit too please?

anonandlikeit · 07/06/2010 17:22

Yes please!! See you have a job, now you can move.
The middle schools are due to close over the next 2 years so good quality vacant school buildings are available.

Sounds great.. Now we just need to link it to the short break project I have in the pipelines..

anonandlikeit · 07/06/2010 17:31

Tell me more, tell me more??
We could do with short breaks, suffolk has aiming high funding & activities unlimited but I have not seen much in the way of short breaks.

Maybe we can turn the caretakers house in to a respite house???

will you infiltrate the lea as well so we are guaranteed a place without any fighting? You weren't wrong about house prices were you!!!!

anonandlikeit · 07/06/2010 17:41

You get alot for your money here! Primary schools are generally undersubscribed as it is not very densly populated & plenty of pensioners - so getting in to out of catchment schools is not normally a problem so don't see why our MN school should be any different.

Well the plan is that sn families can get a break tbh.. Few spa treatments.. Mix with other families .. Things for the dc's to do ( sn and nt) .. Home from home but without the stares etc.. Mostly funded through corporation use of facilities during the week etc

dh and I are in the midst of " talks" at the moment..
There is a major lack ATM of this type of thing. So hopefully we will get if off the ground!

anonandlikeit · 07/06/2010 17:46

Sounds great, thats def something that could work in Suffolk as there is already a big leisure market to utilise.

Same here ( Somerset).. I can see why there is a lack of these facilities tbh.. Basically to make it available to as many as possible most of the cost has to be covered... A prospect most businesses won't tollerate... Or your looking at charity status...
But if you can fund it through a sideline business ie the corporate events and functions side.. It should work.

Ie being affordable for families and not bring a charity... Luckily I'm not the brains on the business end of it and have a very good group of people behind me.

Hell I just paint pretty pictures

mummysaurus · 07/06/2010 23:11

ouryve · 08/06/2010 19:52

Cheap?! We could buy a 4 bed detached house with lots of garden, in our Co Durham village, for less than a 2 bed terrace in Suffolk!

If we sold our house, we might be able to buy a shed, perhaps...

anonandlikeit · 08/06/2010 20:09

Ahhh but its SUNNY & DRY in Suffolk - are you looking in the cheap small towns, have a look in Leiston or Saxmundham cheap as chips!

I'm loving this..
So far we have....
ART, RE, FRENCH, DT
Early years,

Any more clever people out there?
