Any ideas? I'm stumped

Popping back for some advice. Hello! Usual odd behaviour problem from ds- he keeps me on my toes.

OK- he was stripping off and weeing round the house- now dealt with that- except for at bedtime. I thought I had it sussed by having super absorbent bed pads- which I was changing after he'd gone to sleep. He has now got round that by stripping off the bed each night, peeing on the matress then falling asleep naked on top of his bare, wet matress. brrr for him, and a big bed making session for me each night.

Any ideas? Giving him any attention at bed time is a bad idea (sends him hyper). I saw a paed today and she reckons you can get waterproof matress covers that you can zip up so the matress is completely enclosed. has anyone come across anything like that?

I suppose I just have to sit it out and be grateful that it's wee......

Can't he wear some kind of vest that fastens so that he can't get access IYKWIM?

Does it have to have a zip, jimjams? Can he remove the kind with elasticated corners?

The type with elasticated corners is currently siting on his floor. Grrr. I've tried fitting it really tight but he seems to be able to get it off. I suppose I could try attaching a fastner- and tying it underneath, but I'm not sure the plastic wouldn't rip.

Hi BH- I don't htink they do vests like that for 6 year olds - also I think he'd get out of that now- or get very cross if he couldn't.

I know you can get them pretty much off the shelf in the US (we got one to cover an old cot mattress when DD1 was a baby) but I've never noticed them here.

My mother's a district nurse but she was a bit clueless when I mentioned zipping ones to her! I think I'm going to have to browse continence sites again. Lovely- thought I'd stopped all that when he was toilet trained 18 months ago!

We had a zip-up allergy thing for mattresses that came from boots. Maybe as a stop-gap you could get one of those with a bin-liner under it? It would still mean changing it, but at least the mattress wouldn't get ruined. That boy, he doesn't half make life hard for himself

Might you be able to buy a hospital mattress instead? I've no idea how much they cost but at least they are completely sealed.

He's happy as anything tamum- I peeped round the corner and he was bouncing up and down on the bed starkers laughing his head off with all his bedding on the floor! My heart sank though- no dh tonight - well not until much later- so going to have to do a lot of lugging around myself.

It's probably only last a couple of weeks Janh- then once we've got on top of this he'll find some other way to drive me mad.

had to pop into school today - he was sitting in circle time like a little angel.

I couldn't get any help from Soc Svs with bedding (DS started bed wetting almost every night since taking medication). All they would offer is big nappies which I refused as it would be regression in toilet training for DS as he'd start to think he could wee in his clothes anytime, any place, anywhere (esp after a few Martinis!). The waterproof sheets etc are expensive. Try Fledglings too as they always sell stuff at lowest possible price. At least he does it when he's asleep and doesn't jump and down thinking its funny! Don't know what you can do behaviourally on this one, best to prevent if possible.

he does it when he's awake davros- I try to get to him as soon as I hear him stirring in the morning, but if he's awake before me all I hear is giggling.

will try fledglings. Our local continence service wouldn't be any use as they won't give nappies unless they're in them all the time- he'd just take it off anyway! grrrr.

He gave me a big grin and went bright red and all shy when he saw me Blu. Very sweet, the little monster. They get him doing so much as this school.

Its a bit hard to make out Wallace, but it looks good and cheap too. I think I will be buying a couple of exciting waterproof products too! What I'd really like is a second washing machine upstairs and just shove the stuff in every morning (dream, at least its not about laminating!).

I am very dozy- I have a disability shop within walking distance and have now stocked up. Good job as he stripped his bed and did a huge wee on it first thing this morning. Couldn't get the new envelope cover off though ha ha ha.

Hi Jimjams,

DS1 still wets the bed. We put pyjama pants on him when he's asleep, but sometimes (last night beign a case in point) he manages to soak the bed anyway.

Sigh!
