It says you need to contact your gp

Okay thank you. I rang up today and was told it was denied. He told me to gather all evidence from doctors and school and send back within a week. He said if i just submit it as extra evidence it should get relooked at within a couple of weeks. Is this correct? I rang doctors and they have done me a print out and a letter with her health issues and school have done me a detailed letter with her needs. Do you think this will be enough?

NC SD 6/3 called today, still the same. it's with the case manager and it would take 25 weeks to have a decision. and they couldn't tell when it was given to the case manager. 🙄 I feel like my DC will be denied.

Hi just read you messaged on here well scrolling.

Iv applied for my son who has tourettes and possible ADHD and autism although the tourettes had been diagnosed and the ADHD should be done on our next appointment in September. But I was just wondering as you said you were awarded. What rates you got and if you were awarded mobility. My son suffers badly with his mobility due to his tourettes.

Iv sent his diagnosis off and letters from GP and list of medications and school IEP plan off. Just wondering if this was enough. I'm very much in the dark about tourettes as havent had any support from GP or pediatrician as they have no clue about tourettes on how to help him cope with it. He has been reffered to the neurologist and he has an appointment in September I havent sent this off though.

Sorry for the long message just trying to look for abit of advice from someone who has a child with tourettes my son will be 9 in a few weeks.

Hi, I was really surprised but we got middle rate care and lower rate mobility. We sent off his initial ADHD assessment for his diagnosis, plus assessments he had for his school EHCP and Tourette’s diagnosis and treatment. He is on 2 medications twice a day to help with his ADHD and tics (clonidine and meflynate) so this probably effects the rate he qualifies for but we went down the neurology route and his specialist advised clonidine. It made a huge difference. He also suffers with anxiety so the meflynate has been added in as he has grown because the clonidine seemed less effective

Hi thanks for messaging back.

Yes my son has been put on the clonidine by the pediatrician who got confirmation from the neurologist to give him. It doesn't really seem to be doing much apart from making his blood pressure stupidly low. He suffers really bad out and about he will jerk into the road or just randomly have a burst of running then just stop like nothing happened. Obviously there's the normal eye blinking head jerking. He goes cross eyed and he's vocal aswell some of the things he comes out. But just acts as if he's not just shouted out thanks for shopping in morrisons when we're at the park. He cries in pain daily his legs hurt or his hands hurt and he gets head aches alot. GP and pediatrician have litrally been useless for advice on things to help him cope that's why we have been reffered to the neurologist so I'm hoping he will have abit more support. But the clonidine iv had to reduce due to making his blood pressure dropping to low.
I dont suppose you know any methods of how to help him cope. It's honestly been a battle we have waited 3 years for some sort of support and it was litrally a diagnosis and that was it.

Does anyone know if you get a new scan date when going for a MR or does it go off your last one?
Thanks

@Princessmom222 You get a new scan date for MR so the wait time is currently 25+weeks wait for MR from new scan date but if you are awarded under a MR then the payments are backdated to your original scan date for your claim

Hi,

No i dont have any letters with it. But its all on her records at doctors. She has seen multiple consultants and been diagnosed with her conditions. They wont do anything with her hips until shes a teen. However her ADHD is waiting to be diagnosed (no doubt in my mind she has it as my other daughter has it). I asked school for a letter detailing her behaviour issues but they wouldnt help. Even though i get called in multiple times a day to come calm and soothe her as she is highly aggressive when she gets dysregulated. They also believe she has ODD as she doesnt take well to authority. I did give them permission to contact my doctors. So im hoping this helps.

Most schools wont do any supporting letters for dla, and tbh its extremely unlikely dla will contact drs or any professionals. You can however do a SARs request with the school/health trust and they have to provide all documentation they hold on your child. And you could then send that away for supporting evidence

The process is long enough never mind another 25 weeks. Wonder why its taking so long. Ive got a lot of evidence now so fingers crossed it will work.

We were lucky in that for the first year or 2 clonidine was doing the trick for my son. He was slowly increased to 25mcgs x5 a day tho and it wasn’t doing much so we’re now reducing the clonidine and upping meflynate which is helping a bit. Anxiety and stress make his tics so much worse so we work on making sure he eats well, sleeps enough, brown noise helps (YouTube), he is seeing a psychologist now and is under consultant neurology and adhd nurse specialist care. They say the teen years are worse then hopefully it should settle a bit

Do the neurologist do head scans aswell? I'm not really sure what to expect when we go to the appointment. His teacher has been amazing this year though as he's now got a diagnosis he was constantly getting told off by his teacher in previous year Even though we explained what was going on. He's just started football training as he loves football and thought this would calm them down and help to distract him from doing them. But unfortunately it's not helping he just comes home crying in pain and spends most of the time at the other end of the pitch doing his tics. Is really sad but he still wants to go bless him.
