DLA WAITING TIMES THREAD 66

Please feel free to add your scan date and whether it's a new claim/mandatory reconsideration/change of circumstances or renewal.
New claims (NC) - people are being told the wait time has increased to 25 weeks! I would say most are done before this though around the 20 week mark?
Mandatory reconsideration (MC) and Change of circumstances (COC) is around 20-25 weeks.
Renewals tend to be between 15-20 weeks.
If you disagree with the outcome of an MR you can appeal and go to court (tribunal)
Scan date is the date DLA scan your application forms on to their system, if you downloaded your application forms then this will be from when your award will be backdated from. If you called up for forms then the date on those is the date yours will be backdated from.
If successful and claiming universal credit (UC) please update them as this will entitle you to disabled child element adding extra to your award.

@Jhunte thank you, 😂 far from fussy! Although when it comes to actual real food she is extremely restricted but anything that is 100% not food she has no limits! I always question if these children have taste buds! That’s ok, if anything it’s just nice to hear from another parent experiencing the same things.

Aziz0307 · 10/03/2025 21:37

NC 25/10 I called today a lovely lady told me that my daughter had been rewarded MC And LM on the 05/03 and I will receive back payment tomorrow Tuesday good lack to everyone waiting.
can anyone one help me how to claim the other benefits step by step please I’m on universal credit

Justanothermum31 · 10/03/2025 21:40

@Jhunte outside is the hardest! And she’s learnt to quickly swallow we’re as when she was younger you had more of a chance of retrieving whatever it was from her mouth now when she sees you coming there’s no hesitation and down it goes, I know it gets easier at home because you learn to dissect your house and be as minimal as possible but like you said you can’t control other environments especially outside. The parks are awful!

s39 · 10/03/2025 21:45

MR 22/1 here for another few months looks like they taking 25+ weeks for MR decisions

Has your little one been tested (bloods) for deficiency's? as so far that's all they have done to address my little one's PICA to see if his PICA was due to him being deficient in vitamins or iron but results all come back as normal. Luckily he is a great eater of actual food he generally eats everything including curries which I know a lot of young children don't like. I know what you mean about no tastebuds too I often thought that!

Yes they get quicker! I have spoken to one other parent who's daughter is now ten and she said it still happens (her daughter eats non food items) but not nearly as much as when she was under five so really hoping my little one grows out of this too

Justanothermum31 · 10/03/2025 22:00

@Jhunte yes we had to keep going back for blood tests which was awful, she has an iron deficiency which supported the diagnoses. She also has multiple vitamin deficiencies and take vitamins for those but her intake of real food is so limited that is probably just due to her diet. The PICA was our first ever diagnoses and I remember one of the nurses explaining it to me like that, that as they get older it gets harder because they become smarter or more determined to hide with it.

Justanothermum31 · 10/03/2025 22:03

@Jhunte we try with the vitamins 😂 it doesn’t go down too well. But she eats apples like she breaths air so that puts my mind at ease she atleast gets that.

Justanothermum31 · 10/03/2025 22:07

@Jhunte also so good that he eats, it’s nice to hear! There’s nothing better then a kid eating, love a full tummy x

Orangemop · 10/03/2025 22:09

Is it 25 week wait from the scan date or from when you ring up for the claim form?

Hi you need to go to home page on your journal then click change of circumstance. You then need to click caring for someone. They will then ask you questions. If you have more than 1 child it will then ask you which child you care for. Select that child. Input the rate of care you was awarded and from what date (usually the day you rang for the forms or your scan date) if you printed the forms off yourself. Then pop a note in your journal saying child has been awarded Dla and you would like to apply for disabled child element and careers allowance/child element whichever you choose to go with. And could it be back dated from “said” date as DLA took a long time processing your claim

Sorry just realised my mistake! Instead of carers allowance you can claim carers element not child element 🫣

NC SD 5/11, haven’t heard anything yet, seeing people awarded after this date has convinced me it’ll be a decline now - this wait is so tough 😢

GladMintPoster · 11/03/2025 07:37

N/C sd 25/11. Anyone know what dates there are up to on fb I don't have it?

Loulou12321 · 11/03/2025 07:42

I'm sure I've seen one 14/11 be awarded but there's still ones from October to be done so who knows.

My scan date is early December I think so a while for me yet and I think it'll be a decline anyway due to my daughters age and it being related to bowel care.

Still quite away for us both yet then, fingers crossed both our daughters get what award they deserve.

We're 21/11 here, nothing as of yet although I'm not expecting to hear until April/May realistically. Good luck, I hope your claim goes well and the wait isn't too long.

MistandFog2024 · 11/03/2025 09:53

NC SD 19/11 just sent a load more evidence off, hope I’ve got it in in time. Good luck to everyone waiting x

My MR is October.. apparently it's with a dm, I called yesterday. X

Crochetmumma90 · 11/03/2025 10:02

Ive been silent lurker reading the last few threads, no doubt ill be around for a few more yet 🫣 I thought it was about time I popped in and said hi. My NC SD 11/12 the wait is agony. I know I have a while to wait yet as currently on week 13. Hope everyone gets the award you deserve. And I hope all those towards the end of your wait period hears very soon. 🩷 my son is 9, dyspraxia, tested for PICA but blood tests came back normal. There was a point he was pulling his hair out and making himself bold to eat it, now he eats paper, card and chews plastic. potential adhd and asd. Sensory sensitivities. Also home educate because school was too much for him.

Glitzxx · 11/03/2025 10:13

Selblockh · 11/03/2025 10:22
