DLA WAITING TIMES THREAD 66

1000 replies

zoeybrooks45 · 10/03/2025 14:50

Please feel free to add your scan date and whether it's a new claim/mandatory reconsideration/change of circumstances or renewal.
New claims (NC) - people are being told the wait time has increased to 25 weeks! I would say most are done before this though around the 20 week mark?
Mandatory reconsideration (MC) and Change of circumstances (COC) is around 20-25 weeks.
Renewals tend to be between 15-20 weeks.
If you disagree with the outcome of an MR you can appeal and go to court (tribunal)
Scan date is the date DLA scan your application forms on to their system, if you downloaded your application forms then this will be from when your award will be backdated from. If you called up for forms then the date on those is the date yours will be backdated from.
If successful and claiming universal credit (UC) please update them as this will entitle you to disabled child element adding extra to your award.

Did you hear back from DWP with your other claim? I’ve got no progress. Super frustrating

Bad news they haven’t changed their decision so I have to go to appeal 😭 going to take 12-18mths before appeal gets heard, I already have one going for my son!

i sent evidence from a lady who helps me with my children who has experience with send , evidence from the head master of my older children’s school saying she will definitely need a one plan when she starts school in September and is clearly on the spectrum and she has been accepted on the jades pathway.

so annoying!

anyway good luck to everyone else waiting x

OMG😭

Last year, my daughter was 3 years old, and I needed help, but I had no medical reports to prove she was autistic. I knew that, with only my word, it would be difficult to get DLA (Disability Living Allowance) approved.

So, I contacted Renata Noyce, a Portage Psychologist and Adviser, who conducted an online consultation. She observed my daughter, we discussed my concerns, and I shared videos as evidence. Based on this, she created an Observation Report, which cost £250 and was essential for my daughter’s diagnosis. The paediatrician recognised its quality and, together with the consultation, confirmed her autism.

To ensure the DLA form was completed correctly, I also used Renata’s service. With her experience, she structured the form properly, and my daughter was awarded high rate DLA. This service cost £170, but it was worth it.

I later used her services again for my second daughter, who is also autistic, and she was also awarded high rate DLA.

This Observation Report was also crucial for my daughter’s EHCP approval and Blue Badge. It is a valuable document that can be used for various applications.

Renata is very active in special needs parent groups and has been an angel in our lives. As a mother of a child with special needs, she truly understands our struggles and knows how to communicate them effectively in reports.

If you need help, I highly recommend her.🥰🙏🏼

@Josie163 @Wallacebird Just to expand on what this lady has said here.
This Instagram lady is a trained portage advisor but working independently and charging for her services.
In the UK we have various free services for children one of which being portage ( the national portage service)
They are a home service for children Age 0-5 with Sen or suspected Sen and you can access the service for free you can be referred by your health visitor, salt, family doctor and also you can call early help and they can refer you onto portage and the service is free.. They can do observation report for you also.
You do not have to pay.
Just thought I'd input that for families that can't afford a private independent portage advisor 💫

@Nirzhara What Diagnosis does your son have?

He is in Autism path way he dosnt communicate he is still in nappys.

PositivityRipples · 14/03/2025 16:58

@Nirzhara So I'm guessing it's the HRC you are doing a MR for and not HRM as no diagnosis..
Get some advice on the evidence needed and the discribors for HRC and take into account the child's age ect and what additional evidence you can get together.. If you feel your child is entitled to a higher rate you are within your rights to ask for them to reconsider the award but also remember when doing a MR you could also risk your current award.. Good luck 💫

*edit *Sorry just reread your post so it was already a MR and they've awarded MRC and LRM so are you looking to appeal for HRC is that what you meant or for HRM too?

Hi positivityRipples
I am in similar situation why does a diagnosis make a difference for mobility
my son does have a diagnosis but I thought DLA it doesn’t matter just curious

PositivityRipples · 14/03/2025 17:38

@Sarahlou15 you do not need an official diagnosis to claim Dla you just need evidence that a specific disability is being looked into and the symptoms that are present affect daily living and or mobility ect.
For HRM if the child is able to walk but virtually unable to walk ( vuw) or smi ( severely mentally impaired) you have to prove the 6 points under these rules one of the points is arrested development of the brain ( this can be proven with diagnosis of either Autism or GDD) you would still have to prove the other 5 point but without the diagnosis proving arrested development of the brain is near impossible in dla criteria and rules and legislation.

Thank you I did not know that

thank you

In absolute shock. 22+2 MR. Went from total decline from original scan date in May 2024 to being awarded HRM HRC. Have a huge backpay coming and to say I cried happy tears is an understatement. Sent 50+ pieces of evidence to back up everything I was saying so when people tell you less is more, NO! If it backs you up, send it!! Decision maker rang today to clarify things and was told on the phone. Good luck everyone waiting 😍
