DLA WAITING TIMES THREAD 65

zoeybrooks45 · 21/02/2025 20:01

Please feel free to add your scan date and whether it's a new claim/mandatory reconsideration/change of circumstances or renewal.
New claims (NC) - people are being told the wait time has increased to 25 weeks! I would say most are done before this though around the 20 week mark?
Mandatory reconsideration (MC) and Change of circumstances (COC) is around 20-25 weeks.
Renewals tend to be between 15-20 weeks.
If you disagree with the outcome of an MR you can appeal and go to court (tribunal)
Scan date is the date DLA scan your application forms on to their system, if you downloaded your application forms then this will be from when your award will be backdated from. If you called up for forms then the date on those is the date yours will be backdated from.
If successful and claiming universal credit (UC) please update them as this will entitle you to disabled child element adding extra to your award.

My little one is on the pathway for asd but is struggling to walk (his whole body stiffens as he walks and he walks on his top toes) and is physically exhausted all the time and just lays down on the ground outside so I just paid out a good chunk of money for a bigger stroller as he's 3 1/2 and needed a bigger one and after I paid the money his health visitor said she could help get him a disability stroller, so ask your health visitor if you still have one if they can help with something, not saying it's guaranteed they will cause I haven't heard anything back as she said shes not 100% sure he'll qualify without diagnosis but it's worth asking. It is a joke the price of things though and people wonder what people need the dla money for. I'm struggling to find shoes that my little one can even wear as everything seems to be changed to these full front straps and the Velcro just bursts open as he walks so I'm having to buy off resellers for any sort of trendy shoes as they normally have laces🙈
My LB is the same I've tried potty training since he was 2, he was doing pees in the potty just before his 3rd birthday few weeks later he went through some change and would just constantly pee himself and then started nursery and had to put him back in nappies day and night, and totally regressed with everything else he was doing so well at! Anyone else's kid with asd all of a sudden develop a really bad stutter? My LB always gets. compliments about his language and how more advanced he sounds with the words he uses even though he didn't start talking until 2 but caught up really fast then developed a really bad stutter that he actually raises his arms and head to the sky when stuttering and has always struggled to communicate his needs, always hand led! Can recite a whole episode of peppa but can't tell me what he done at nursery🙈 feel there's not much support at all before diagnosis even though it can't take years, not even sure what's offered after diagnosis either

My little boy still doesn't talk and he is four next week . He just makes sounds . But most of the time he is silent unless having a meltdown .

We have issues with clothing and shoes to ! It's a nightmare I've had to buy the same pair of trainers since he was young and just keep replacing them when needed as his feet grows . Il be in trouble if they ever stop selling them

Anyone called this morning? (MR 17.10.24)

On hold as we speak... 27 mins so far

ForKindDeer · 05/03/2025 10:57

Hey. I was wondering if anyone could help me, I have been awarded for my daughter, do I have to wait for a letter to update UC ?

also do I have to do a coc on uc or just put a message in the journal, any help would be much appreciated thank you xx

Nice1nix · 05/03/2025 11:04

MR 16/09/24
decision made 02/03/25 (Sunday) at 23 weeks and 6 days after submitting MR
called 03/03/25 to find out he had been awarded but systems down so couldn’t tell me what or any further info.
Back pay received today - appears to be MRC and LRM from when first called for claim forms in April 2024.

Don’t stop fighting for your children. This has been the most stressful thing I have done trying to make sure my son’s needs are recognised and has taken 11 months. I was fully ready to go to tribunal and had already been in communication with the MP for our area.

Thank you everyone on this thread for keeping me sane. I really hope you all get your decisions soon and that they are the right ones.

NC SD 29/10
Just called and was told there's no update yet. Not even with a DM but in the top holding queue so will be soon. Hopefully not long now but it is frustrating when so many into November are being awarded already 😫

Frankadoodle · 05/03/2025 10:41

@Glitzxx my little one bites, kicks and punches also . As he's non verbals he lashes out . It upsets me so much that he can't tell me what's wrong .

He doesn't make me aware of when he's wet or soiled either . I don't think he has any understanding of it unfortunately

Have you heard anything yet i feel like weve been forgotten about 🤣

crb12345 · 05/03/2025 11:34

@Frankadoodle It's so frustrating for them isn't it, my little one babbled until 2, he's been through a lot ( he's my nephew but I've had him since he was born) but when he was 2 we where both completely settled and everything was set in stone with custody I noticed a huge improvement in his speech. My worst fear is him regressing completely and becoming non verbal again so I really do feel for you, the meltdowns when they can't communicate their needs is so heartbreaking. My little one has 3 baths a day just to help regulate himself, I keep being told give him an iPad but honestly he shows no interest in it would rather stack toilet paper, lines up monster trucks and play in the bath. I've never had struggle with fussiness with clothing and shoes until the last couple months, he will only wear this one set of pjs and I've had to look on vinted and panic buy any brand new pairs I can find, I've seen lots of asd kids love crocs and wellies but crocs slip off and wellies make walking even more difficult for him as instead of tip toes he'll walk on his heels.
He's got an appointment with gp on Friday to help with constipation as every morning he's crying about his tummy being sore and he's always constipated, I think it's related to being anxious as he struggles with nursery and only last 3 hours and is moping around and crying for me while he is there and He stopped sleeping around 3 years old struggles to fall asleep so I've discussed melatonin with his gp. Also to get his legs checked because I've mentioned it to paediatrician in June but cause they can't tell me if it's autism or not as he hasn't been diagnosed I feel like I'm in limbo, so many people I've showed videos of him walking to that have kids with asd are shocked because it doesn't look like normal tip toe walking and I'm anxious it could affect him badly as he gets older or is something more serious but I seem to just get brushed off.

MistandFog2024 · 05/03/2025 11:44

@Frankadoodle I really empathise . My son is 3 with severe speech and development delay and sensory issues and we too have had comments and looks while out and about. It’s awful when you end up having to justify yourself to other people who don’t understand. You have to grow a thick skin for sure. My little boy keeps collecting bits of litter off the floor and we don’t know how to get him to stop! I really like your response that they don’t know the situation so please don’t comment, I need to use that myself. Best of luck with your claim x

Hi you don’t need to wait for the letter as long as you know the rates your child has been awarded and from what date. You need to do it as change of circumstance x

MaddyM8 · 05/03/2025 12:33

Lurking here, scan date 15/11 so guessing at least another few weeks. Hope your children all get awarded and you hear as soon as possible. Fingers crossed x

Meglee93 · 05/03/2025 12:40

Hey I submitted a MR on the 10th feb so really recently, I received a letter to say that it would be 11 weeks but I'm reading on here that's highly unlikely, was anyone else told 11 weeks? xx

crb12345 · 05/03/2025 12:41

@MistandFog2024 my little one does this too but with sticks, whether we go in the car, a walk, every morning before nursery we have to look for a stick to take and he's still got it at the end of nursery🙈 it's crazy how their mind works☺️X

flutterbye99 · 05/03/2025 13:00

@MistandFog2024 my DD is nearly 12 and still does this! Literally everything is something! They don't grow out of it.. they just learn ways to be more subtle about it when they feel like they will be judged. Best thing I ever done was got a little bag and a pair of gloves and just let it happen for her. My DD will always make something out of nothing.. an empty packet of crisps is a blanket for a baby or something like that. Great imaginations! 😊

Coffeeandcrocs · 05/03/2025 13:48

25 weeks today ( scan date 13/09 ) for a COC so called for an update- not even in a holding queue and likely to be a few more weeks 'due to the christmas break and technical issues '. Lady was very nice and added some additional information for me ( now have a blue badge, had wheelchair ordered, hip migration due to non weight baring) and asked for a text to be sent but said not all decision makers have the ability to send a text!

crb12345 · 05/03/2025 14:00

I've just received a phone call from paediatrician and they have prescribed my little one melatonin, my claim is with a decision maker as of yesterday, I'm from Scotland so I just upload online but has anyone sent info when it's with decision maker? Does it delay your claim?

flutterbye99 · 05/03/2025 14:21

@crb12345 I've done the exact same this morning and also for melatonin. My SD is 28/10 and is with DM today so I called them and they've added notes to the case to say what's been prescribed but awaiting letter etc. give them a call and ask them to update it 😊

Frankadoodle · 05/03/2025 14:26

@Glitzxx nothing! Not going to ring again unless I haven't heard anything in two weeks . I've been lucky not being shouted at by them but I think I'm pushing my luck now 😂
