DLA WAITING TIMES THREAD 64

zoeybrooks45 · 07/02/2025 07:06

Please feel free to add your scan date and whether it's a new claim/mandatory reconsideration/change of circumstances or renewal.
New claims (NC) - people are being told the wait time has increased to 25 weeks! I would say most are done before this though around the 20 week mark?
Mandatory reconsideration (MC) and Change of circumstances (COC) is around 20-25 weeks.
Renewals tend to be between 15-20 weeks.
If you disagree with the outcome of an MR you can appeal and go to court (tribunal)
Scan date is the date DLA scan your application forms on to their system, if you downloaded your application forms then this will be from when your award will be backdated from. If you called up for forms then the date on those is the date yours will be backdated from.
If successful and claiming universal credit (UC) please update them as this will entitle you to disabled child element adding extra to your award.

NC SD 5/11, from reading the thread am convinced I’ll be declined so have sort of accepted that now. I sent detailed daily care needs but only a supporting letter from the school Senco about them. So I’m forgetting about it now, any result would be a bonus now. Good luck everyone x

Hi my sad is 19/11 for a new claim and reading this thread I think we will be declined. My son is 3 years 6 months and non verbal and development delays, doesn’t interact with other children at nursery and nursery have said he has very little understanding of the nursery routine and can become distressed when they try to engage gim in different activities. The area senco for early years has done a report that details this and I have my son’s ieps from nursery and a speech and language report. Like someone else I’m still waiting for paediatrician report also so I think we will be declined for that.
If we need to do an mr does anyone please know if you have to send all original evidence off again or would it be just new evidence? Many thanks x

I think it was the age that played a big part in the decline. 1-2 year old don’t sleep through the night constantly as it can vary. Do you have any other information to support MR? Does she attend a nursery? It’s difficult with age. I would focus on what dangers you have to keep her from and day to day difficulties.

i don’t feel I can send her to nursery yet as she is non verbal it worries we incase something happens and she can’t tell us and she doesn’t play with any children in our family . Thankyou for the reply I have no more evidence yet but I have asked health visitor if she can give me any

I would like to know same thing as I’m doing m/r and was wondering if they keep the original evidence on there or if you have to resend

@UpsideDownAndBackToFront had good news. Called today as I was concerned evidence didn't go with the claim anyway I am unsure if it did. They made the decision and I have same rates for 5 years. My date will probably be a week later now though due to having the one off week payment. Thanks to your post for prompting me to call!

@Cozy2025 my little one is none verbal he's been going to nursery since he was 2 he's nearly 4 now. He loves it. And communicates in his own way there. You would be surprised how adaptable children are. Once the nursery staff got to know him and his little ways it was easier

They have all the original evidence. You don’t need to resend anything.

That might be a small percentage with admin error. I was recently awarded MR and didn’t send anything previously agian.

@Daniellefp82 @Glitzxx
A case manager looks after the case from start to finish
A decision maker makes the decision on entitlement, rates of award and dates to and from.
They are completely different people with completely different job roles.

Sometimes the person you get through to will say whatever, it depends on who you get. But it is correct that a decision maker is the only person who can actually award, determine pay dates etc.
