DLA WAITING TIMES THREAD 64

Please feel free to add your scan date and whether it's a new claim/mandatory reconsideration/change of circumstances or renewal.
New claims (NC) - people are being told the wait time has increased to 25 weeks! I would say most are done before this though around the 20 week mark?
Mandatory reconsideration (MC) and Change of circumstances (COC) is around 20-25 weeks.
Renewals tend to be between 15-20 weeks.
If you disagree with the outcome of an MR you can appeal and go to court (tribunal)
Scan date is the date DLA scan your application forms on to their system, if you downloaded your application forms then this will be from when your award will be backdated from. If you called up for forms then the date on those is the date yours will be backdated from.
If successful and claiming universal credit (UC) please update them as this will entitle you to disabled child element adding extra to your award.

Hi my scan date was the 5/11 been 15 weeks I haven’t phoned befor so just called to be curious the man was loverly and he sed decision hasn’t been made yet but it is with decision maker now he sed it’s 100 percent with them but not sure when they got it . does any one no how fast process is normally now surprised it was so quick to be honest

I might be wrong but I think @PositivityRipples said previously the claim can be with the decision make for 4-8 weeks being looked at . Might of just made that up but I seem to remember her saying something along these lines. But she has inside knowledge and is really good 😂

Update: COC scan date 29/08 currently on week 25 with one day remaining so rang this morning so frustrated. Decision was made this morning daughter was awarded LRM. She already receives HRC and this was due for a renewal next year in September however this has been extended to 2031 so I have a good 6 years before any renewal. The wait was exhausting. Anyone for COC please be advised you might have to wait out the whole 25weeks that’s what they told me. Good luck to all that are waiting.

Senmummy1234 · 19/02/2025 12:36

What did you send and also do you have any diagnosis x

BlessedAlways · 19/02/2025 12:44

initially applied when daughter was 3 in 2023 with an autism diagnosis report, speech and language report, nursery 1:1 report. The autism diagnosis letter also had reports of my daughter taking melatonin for her sleep issues and pica due to low iron so she was put on iron replacement. She was awarded HRC.

this recent application for COC was for mobility as daughter is now 5. I sent her EHCP , education psychologist report and paediatricians letter stating daughter will soon be reviewed for ADHD as she just doesn’t stop moving about. Was hoping for HRM so might do MR but just glad they have acknowledged her and extended her renewal to 2031.

Im not expecting they'll call me but I am waiting to see when they've called the school senco which I think they will. Half term now so nothing will happen this week but from next week I'm going to have to stop myself asking the senco everyday have they called yet 😅
I phoned last week to check if some extra info had been received and was told test and that I should hear something mid March so probably got a few week yet but the wait is starting to get excruciating 😬
Keep us posted if you hear anything x

Hey!
NC. SD 15/11/2024

Sent my form off in November when he was on the waiting list at camhs for autism assessment, in Decemeber his assessment started and now a diagnosis of ASD, ADHD and moderate intellectual disability has been given, should I send the assessment report to DLA? Or is it too late, thanks 😊

I would definitely send this. If you send it next day recoded it'll get there before end of this week.

la077 · 19/02/2025 13:43

@Kidsanchaos I was expecting them to have phone LOs nursery this week as it's our half term next week and they're working through quite quickly but nursery haven't heard anything so far. Fingers crossed it's quick for us!

Lifeiswhatyoumakeit9124 · 19/02/2025 13:57

What's the timescale currently for reviews? Thanks

la077 · 19/02/2025 14:50

Just called for an update. It's in the second of 3 holdings so hopefully shouldn't be much longer but to call back in a few weeks if I haven't heard anything soon!

Riiiiiight · 19/02/2025 14:54

Got through, needed to check on something, claim hasn't had a decision as yet, nc sd 21/10

TiredB33 · 19/02/2025 16:28

I just missed a call from them. Will they call me back? They never left a vmail.

Frankadoodle · 19/02/2025 16:39

It honestly feels like your never going to get a decision and it's going to go on forever 😂

If you mean renewals I was told they just aim to get them done before it expires, so could be shorter or longer than the general wait.
Just to say as well as some people mentioned it further back, this is my 4th claim across two children and I’ve never had a text for any awards 🤣 only the standard ones that say sorry you’ve been waiting x number of weeks but do not call us. I don’t know why they don’t utilise it more, surely it would reduce the calls. Or an online portal like someone else said.

Yeah I mean for renewal, my child's dla is due to end in June and just sent it all off special delivery. So now just a waiting game just wasn't sure if it was 25 weeks wait for renewals as well. Thank you x

I have been waiting for 56 mins still on hold will they answer my call even though they close at 5?

I think if you're on the phone before 5, they actually close lines at 5.30 so you may get through still

NC SD 18/11/24

hello lovely parents/carers,

DS diagnosed ASD/ADHD, also dyslexia and various sleep and digestive/bowel issues. Masks well at school, but has a medical care plan, IEP and most likely will start EHCNA process soon as he is struggling academically and emotionally. Currently is accessing some MHST sessions to support mental wellbeing. School also dropped a language in order to provide extra literacy and maths support sessions and he has stuff like a movement pass and toilet pass. Worried that school will plaster over the cracks if contacted by DLA, but am hoping that the emails and evidence I sent will contradict that if that were to happen. Other half can’t work due to varying children’s needs, so the DLA will be hugely beneficial if it is agreed. Son also unable to travel independently due to sensory and autism difficulties, although other teenagers his age are.
Any advice, support or comments gladly welcome. And good luck to everyone too.
