Please feel free to add your scan date and whether it's a new claim/mandatory reconsideration/change of circumstances or renewal.
New claims (NC) - people are being told the wait time has increased to 25 weeks! I would say most are done before this though around the 20 week mark?
Mandatory reconsideration (MC) and Change of circumstances (COC) is around 20-25 weeks.
Renewals tend to be between 15-20 weeks.
If you disagree with the outcome of an MR you can appeal and go to court (tribunal)
Scan date is the date DLA scan your application forms on to their system, if you downloaded your application forms then this will be from when your award will be backdated from. If you called up for forms then the date on those is the date yours will be backdated from.
If successful and claiming universal credit (UC) please update them as this will entitle you to disabled child element adding extra to your award.

He then said you're looking at another 13 week wait I told him that's unlikely but thank you for the speal all the same 🤣🙄😂

MistandFog2024 · 14/02/2025 10:42

Has anyone been asked in the security questions “what other benefits do you receive aswel as dla” before

I have two applications with a scan date of 21/10 called yesterday for 1 claim about extra evidence and was asked that on a security question but haven’t before, now I’m debating if perhaps my other daughters been awards and I should call again or if that’s just standard security questions

I just called n/c s/d 10th oct
lovely man but said they are sticking to the 24-25 weeks before they are looked at I think they are told to say that as seen so many awards around my date 😒

Ellie75su · 14/02/2025 12:52

Just had a letter to say our MR was declined. 2/9/2024. Just so people know where the dates are at. Good luck everyone still waiting xx

Nice1nix · 14/02/2025 13:04

@Ellie75su im so sorry 😞 I’m dreading this but will 100% be taking it to tribunal if declined. We still have bit of a wait as our MR is 16/09/24. Have they detailed reasons for decline of your MR is it worth you appealing at tribunal?

I'm really unsure as to their reasons.
Evidence wise I sent
SALT report and evidence of SALT sessions.
ADHD referral
Letter from the school nursing teams stating they are supporting her with anger management, sensory approach to eating and managing her emotions.
My grandparents wrote a letter as the "someone who knows them"
IEP from school
Dyslexia diagnosis
I gave GPs contact details and school SENCO details and gave permission to contact them.
I'll attach the letter then sent.
I probably won't go to tribunal. It's been a long 10 month process and will wait until she has official diagnosis.
Good luck everyone xx

Ellie75su · 14/02/2025 13:12

Forgot to attach the letter 😂

It really does seem to depend upon whose desk it lands. You have nothing to lose by going to tribunal and could seek advice from CAB, and request from DLA a copy of original claim form and all the evidence they used to make the decision, but I understand the stress and anxiety takes its toll.

If I can help in anyway let me know x

So sorry to see this. Don’t give up for what your daughter is entitled to. I know you may feel like it now, give yourself a week or so and then come back fighting and take it to tribunal. It seems like you had quite a bit of evidence. How old is your daughter? Is she still currently under salt now? If so can you gather more evidence from them? Do you have any evidence of acknowledgment that your daughter has been accepted for a adhd assessment? Quite shocked that they have declined with the amount of evidence you provided. Doesn't give me much hope although i did send very similar to yourself. Also remember dla is not diagnosis based so even with a diagnosis they can decline. They did my son back in 2023 as i thought his diagnosis report would be enough. I did a MR with so much more evidence and was then awarded HRC LRM till 2028. I wish you all the luck.

Ellie75su · 14/02/2025 13:44

@Nice1nix

It does seem that way, I cannot imagine the school didn't support the claim as they were the ones who suggested support from the school nursing teams regarding her behaviour. They've recently given her a "brain break" pass which basically lets her out of the classroom onto the playground to let off steam. Her outbursts are becoming harder to control now she's is 9. Just last week we had to stop the car on a busy A road because she proceeded to strangle me with my seatbelt because we had an appointment after school which isn't the normal routine of coming home and taking her scratchy clothes off (school clothes) her poor sister receives the brunt end of most of her anger and aggression. She's broken 4 of her bones so as you can imagine keeping an eye on her at all times is a must! She's no sense of danger with roads or cars or perhaps more a lack of care she seems to think she is invincible (I guess that's a child thing 😂) she doesn't sleep very much lays awake until the early hours I often find her laying in bed with her legs in the air and head hanging off the bed. However I must say it doesn't affect her getting up in the morning she's rearing to go come 6am 🤷‍♀️
I wish you all the best with your claim! Fingers crossed for you xx

Nice1nix · 14/02/2025 13:46

Ellie75su · 14/02/2025 13:12

Forgot to attach the letter 😂

Ah ok, looks like the reasons will be on the next letter they send. If you do appeal it can be done online and all evidence can be uploaded to the portal there from what I know. X

Ellie75su · 14/02/2025 13:48

@1senmum2another
She's 9, almost 10. She has 1 hour sessions a week in school. Although I completely understand her when she speaks the school teachers asked if they could refer her as they struggled to understand her alongside her peers. I sent a copy of an email I received from NSFT to say they had accepted her referral and had attached some workshops for us to attend whilst we waited for the outcome.
I think you're correct I will give it a week let the dust settle so to speak and get back up fighting! Thank you xx

Ellie75su · 14/02/2025 13:49

I would just like to also add, please don't be put off by our MR decline. I've also seen plenty of people accepted with little to no evidence! So if you're still waiting don't give up hope just yet! x

StaceSplatt · 14/02/2025 14:13

Thanks for all the help girls on how to get through to hear my son's decision.
I was expecting a decline, he is undiagnosed asd/adhd masks at school and didn't have much evidence.
he got awarded HRC & LM!!!
scan date 08.10 and awarded yesterday
xxx

Sd 2/10/24 new claim. Still waiting, but seen lots of people around the same time hearing back, so hopefully not too much longer 🤞

@Rmarie same scan date 02/10/24 only 5 weeks and 3 days till the 25 week deadline not that I'm counting 🙈 Please will you update if you hear anything and I will do the same 🤞

Lilofthevalley · 14/02/2025 14:47

Hi I sent a DLA renewal on 27.1.25. Not had a text through saying it's been received. I asked for the wrong thing at the post office and have proof of postage, but didn't get tracking, which I think is what I usually do. Does anyone know how long it normally takes to get the text? Don't want to spend hours on hold and clog up phone lines if unnecessary, but equally don't want to forget about it then realise in May it all needs to be sent again!
