DLA WAITING TIMES THREAD 64

Please feel free to add your scan date and whether it's a new claim/mandatory reconsideration/change of circumstances or renewal.
New claims (NC) - people are being told the wait time has increased to 25 weeks! I would say most are done before this though around the 20 week mark?
Mandatory reconsideration (MC) and Change of circumstances (COC) is around 20-25 weeks.
Renewals tend to be between 15-20 weeks.
If you disagree with the outcome of an MR you can appeal and go to court (tribunal)
Scan date is the date DLA scan your application forms on to their system, if you downloaded your application forms then this will be from when your award will be backdated from. If you called up for forms then the date on those is the date yours will be backdated from.
If successful and claiming universal credit (UC) please update them as this will entitle you to disabled child element adding extra to your award.

SD 8/10 new claim- called earlier today and it’s with a case manager, anyone know how quickly claims are processed once with them? Is this the final decision or does it then go to a decision maker? X

After the case manager has gone over the claim it’s then passed to a decision maker so I’d say another couple of weeks my scan date is 22/10 I rang yesterday and it’s in the que to be be looked at by the Decision maker

Thank you! I’ve got no idea about any of this. They seem to be getting through the Oct claims now so next couple of weeks I think. Good luck x

Of course:) the wait is horrible isn't it, just want to hear something x

Mumintraining85 · 14/02/2025 17:23

Evening all. I rang up today for an update as I saw a few others with the same scan date getting answers (NC SD 10/10)I wasn’t expecting to get any response but think I was very lucky as the lady that I spoke to was really nice and helpful. She was able to tell me that a decision was made today but couldn’t see the outcome so she put me through to a different department and they told me that my son has been awarded MRC, LRM!

I really hope everyone waiting hears soon. We had a 19 week wait in total and I know others have been waiting longer. Hope that your children get the support they deserve 🙏

Hi I sent a DLA renewal on 27.1.25. Not had a text through saying it's been received. I asked for the wrong thing at the post office and have proof of postage, but didn't get tracking, which I think is what I usually do. Does anyone know how long it normally takes to get the text? Don't want to spend hours on hold and clog up phone lines if unnecessary, but equally don't want to forget about it then realise in May it all needs to be sent again!

I think I waited about 3-4 weeks for my Nc to receive a letter saying they received it

UpsideDownAndBackToFront · 14/02/2025 17:57

I rang today as I sent my renewal form back quite close to the deadline and was fairly sure they wouldn’t have time to process it. They said it was on the system but waiting to be looked at and would be sorted by the time my next payment which is due in early March. Feeling nervous about the result but hopefully not too long to wait.
Still no news on the change of circumstances I sent mid September though!

Hi does anyone happen to know how long coc are taking?
Also I'm not sure if it falls under this category as the sent the claim form out to me regarding mobility as daughter turned 5. Any replies would be great TiA x

Amy4375 · 14/02/2025 19:49

NC SD 30/09 I've still not heard anything anyone else still waiting for a response with same SD or am i looking at a decline? I rang up a couple of weeks ago and the lady was quite rude and told me to wait untill 25 weeks which is another 4 weeks but now I'm seeing people being awarded from October SD I'm starting to worry 😟

My scan date for coc is 23/9 and I rang up yesterday to be told a few weeks yet but on monday they said very very soon and to call friday if i havnt heard anything. so anytime really. I've also applied for mobility as my daughter turned 3.

1tiredmam · 14/02/2025 21:29

@Lilofthevalley I've not recieved any letters from them at all. Best to ring up and check. Both times I've rang around 12:30 - 1 and got through practically straight away

This is incorrect some call handlers call DM case manager and so fourth. I would think in the next week she has an outcome. I called and was told with case manager next day had award and payment pending.

I called yesterday for my 11 years old sons claim she said it is with dicision maker.my son who have adhd.it is new claim sd 8/10.i am bit worried is his claim will rejected.all I see here is claim is most of them are autism cases I don't know what's gonna happen.

Senmummy1234 · 15/02/2025 05:39

Congratulations, may I ask what evidence you sent in and if you have a diagnosis ? Xx

Senmummy1234 · 15/02/2025 05:47

Hi all, it’s so lovely to have this group on here. I really hope you all get the outcomes we deserve . My sons is up for renewal, due to end in June . I sent the forms off Wednesday with another lot of evidence etc yesterday. When I first done the claim he only was diagnosed with adhd. Fast forward a few years, we now have a diagnosis of autism, his meds for ADHD have increased, he has tics, is under speech and language as he stutters and struggles. We also were awarded a blue badge. Which massively helps. I have sent in his ADOS report., his IEP, the doctors follow up letter, speech and language form from the school, emails from school stating he is struggling, a childminders letter from last year, explaining he runs off etc, . I’m just hoping that’s enough, I have seen so many horror stories of people not being re awarded 😮🫤🫤.good luck to you all.

Hi everyone is there anyway I can challenge length award? I finally received a letter from dla and my sons only been awarded until 2026

How old is your child? My older son was awarded DLA when he was 5 for a year then I had to renew then he was awarded for 3 years and now he's awarded till he turns 16.

I think the younger the child is the shorter the award to start off with as a lot could change in their care needs in that time as they get older for example

Hi he is 4 he was first awarded at the age of 3 hrc then i requested a mandatory reconsideration it was accepted however the award length remains the same which is 3 years

Frankadoodle · 15/02/2025 09:48

@UmElise I'd guess it's probably an age thing . Ring them and ask if there's a way of requesting a longer award. I'm fully expecting if my younger son is awarded DLA to only be awarded for a year as he's just about to turn 4.

I’m really grateful don’t get me wrong I’m happy with the outcome but I thought they would extend the awards length but if it’s an age thing then it makes sense my son is only 4
