DLA WAITING TIMES THREAD 64

Please feel free to add your scan date and whether it's a new claim/mandatory reconsideration/change of circumstances or renewal.
New claims (NC) - people are being told the wait time has increased to 25 weeks! I would say most are done before this though around the 20 week mark?
Mandatory reconsideration (MC) and Change of circumstances (COC) is around 20-25 weeks.
Renewals tend to be between 15-20 weeks.
If you disagree with the outcome of an MR you can appeal and go to court (tribunal)
Scan date is the date DLA scan your application forms on to their system, if you downloaded your application forms then this will be from when your award will be backdated from. If you called up for forms then the date on those is the date yours will be backdated from.
If successful and claiming universal credit (UC) please update them as this will entitle you to disabled child element adding extra to your award.

same thing happened to me. I had to make a complaint I recieved backpay after 2 days. In my account today. If I never made a complaint I would still be waiting! Waited for three weeks.

Thank you so much! They have now sent a message to say it has been sent to a decision maker and there is no timescale of this!! did you get that message too? xx

Hello. Do you mind me asking the name of the Facebook group please?

We have a scan date of 10/10 so hoping we will hear in a few weeks (judging by a few comment here) but when I rang at 15 weeks they told me they expected I would hear early April!

It’s called dla for children advice and support group x

I rang today for an update and was told they have extended the waiting times for new claims to 25weeks my scan date is the 22/10 she said it was in a que to go to a decision maker so I’d say I’m looking at another good few weeks yet

Yeah they kept saying the same thing. That is a the job centre staff that approve it. Once approved they changed the statements and sent the money. Put a note in the journal saying two working days. That was Monday I recieved money today. I was also uplifted from MRC to HRC. Definitely worth putting a complaint in. They will email the staff x

Oh you were in the same boat as me then! The uplift from MRC to HRC. My hope was as we already receive some it wouldn't take as long but from your experience it probably will. How did you file the complaint? Thank you x

Chilly10 · 12/02/2025 13:29

nc sd 14/10/24 just called to ask if I still have time to send additional evidence, they said I have time and to expect a decision within 2 weeks. Only on hold for 20 mins

Gmam1994 · 12/02/2025 13:43

just had my dla payment show as a pending payment scan date 8/10 rang yesterday and was with a case manager

looks like hrc lrm (£2480.5) I think?

LS885 · 12/02/2025 13:45

NC SD 02/10. Still with DM, has been for a few days now 😭🤞

Glitzxx · 12/02/2025 13:45

Mines in a holding queue for a decision maker does this means its gone past the case manager?

Throwingitallaway24 · 12/02/2025 13:51

I don't know when my scan date is as I sent forms on 28/11, then got a letter in January saying it'll be 15 weeks so I'm assuming it's 15 weeks from the date I got the letter in January? I am not very hopeful as my daughter is still young but has a bowel condition which she will never get better from and is currently with an ileostomy and may permanently have it but I don't know yet. I sent as much medical evidence I could of every hospital admission which are frequent and then a detailed statement of her care needs.

PositivityRipples · 12/02/2025 14:15

@glitz
A case manager is responsible for the claim from start to finish they look after the claim from the minute it is scanned onto the system all the way upto completion, they will open and close your file on the dla computer system numerous times for numerous different reasons, they check everything from if you're the child's birth mother, if you're claiming child benefit for the child, if the child lives with you, if your bank details are correct ( no numbers missing and it's in your name) they make sure the claim is in order, they check what additional evidence you've sent and if it can be clearly read on the screen ( as it's scanned onto your file the DM don't see pieces of paper) at the same time the DM can and will open your file at any point and see if they need to refer it to the dwp HCP ( health care professionals) most cases do, this just standard procedure as the DMs and case managers are not medically trained) if the DM has opened the file and requested school professional or GP evidence they will send that out ( sometimes the DM just calls the school or GP over the phone) if the DM has requested paper evidence from school or GP they check when it's back, tbey chase it sometimes with calls, sometimes the dwp HCP will request further medical evidence so the case manager actions that too.. Once the DM has made their final award and a decision on the date for backpay the case manager will check dates for back pay and how much and send that to the payment department to action pack pay then they will send you put the letter and transfer your file to another dla system as a live benefit case.
The call handlers don't know who it's with who's looked at it and who's doing what they talk nonsense on the phone. The only thing a call handler can see is if anyone - a case manager, DM or dwp HCP or the payment team have wrote a note on your file.
And if there is no notes they talk nonsense about it's not with a DM and it's in a holding queue.. And that's lies they literally don't know just because none of these people have noted your file doesn't mean they haven't all been working on it for weeks.
Honestly you could call right now and they say it's not with a DM yet it's in a holding queue and in 30 mins get a text that you've been awarded 😁
Open cases take 4 to 8 weeks to complete so if you've just been awarded your case has been open for the last 4 to 8 weeks ( it's why you will see awards being done in a 4- 8 week period.. At the minute it's end of August to end of October) even if they've told you on the phone its in an imaginary holding queue or a pile 😐
Sorry for the long post I really dislike how they lie to people on the phone
Nobs 🤥🤣
