DLA WAITING TIMES THREAD 64

zoeybrooks45 · 07/02/2025 07:06

Please feel free to add your scan date and whether it's a new claim/mandatory reconsideration/change of circumstances or renewal.
New claims (NC) - people are being told the wait time has increased to 25 weeks! I would say most are done before this though around the 20 week mark?
Mandatory reconsideration (MC) and Change of circumstances (COC) is around 20-25 weeks.
Renewals tend to be between 15-20 weeks.
If you disagree with the outcome of an MR you can appeal and go to court (tribunal)
Scan date is the date DLA scan your application forms on to their system, if you downloaded your application forms then this will be from when your award will be backdated from. If you called up for forms then the date on those is the date yours will be backdated from.
If successful and claiming universal credit (UC) please update them as this will entitle you to disabled child element adding extra to your award.

Fingers crossed for you. I've seen others have called and selected option 4 to be told the outcome and decision made. If you wanted to know. Good luck x

@Riiiiiight You're welcome 💫

MR scan date 03/09 - Just put my big girl pants on and rang again today, been told its with a case manager. Not sure what that means as they didn't say its with a decision maker 🤔

Hi all it’s so nice to be on this thread. My son has adhd, just had a diagnosis of Autism , tics. His forms are due to be renewed by June so I have already done these ready to send off! I have the interim letter with the diagnosis of autism and also the ADos assessment paperwork, but don’t have the full report. If I receive this I will send in. His school are useless and I have now started the ball rolling for an EHCP. He has a Sen 1 plan that’s fairly detailed. I’m really worried seeing everyone’s posts that they are getting declined for this now once renewal has gone in!! It’s frightening! Please help a scared mum out here! He is also awaiting an appointment for speech and language. Tia xxx

Thank you, I'll keep you posted should I hear anything too!x

Hi, rang today and was told its with a case manager...not sure what that means but it's the first time I've been told that 🤔

Ellie75su · 12/02/2025 14:49

@DailyMadness
My understanding is they are the ones who scan everything into the system and pretty much get things in order for the decision maker. Hopefully we heard something soon!xx

TippieTappyTara · 12/02/2025 14:50

Call update for MRs

MR SD 17/10/24 16weeks
Not assigned to a case manager yet.
Call back in a few months if I haven't heard anything .... few months that sounds so crazy 🫠

Senmummy1234 · 12/02/2025 14:55

Hi lovely congratulations this is amazing news, may I know what he has and the evidence you sent it it’s so nerve wrecking x

Riiiiiight · 12/02/2025 15:00

There's a very informative post on page 13 by @PositivityRipples its worth a read.

PositivityRipples · 12/02/2025 15:04

@Ellie75su The case managers don't scan anything onto the system.. That's the job of the Wolverhampton post handling centre.. They have a child dla unit there that scans all claims on.. The case manager or the DM never see any paper evidence they are in a completely different office and only see digital claims on the computer system... But you're right in a sense that the case manager pretty much gets everything in order for the DM and after DM decision also xx

Nc sd 25/11/24. 14 year old daughter is waiting for asd assessment, have no letters from school only letter from camhs and letter saying she's on waiting list for autism assessment, school does not know anything about this, will this affect if she gets an award?

Oh you were in the same boat as me then! The uplift from MRC to HRC. My hope was as we already receive some it wouldn't take as long but from your experience it probably will. How did you file the complaint? Thank you x

https://makeacomplaint.dwp.gov.uk/

it’s so difficult to find online. Literally wouldn’t be surprised if you receive pay Monday after doing it. The same day they verified they issued payment. It literally took a few days last time, don’t know what happened this time round. Good luck. X

@GladMintPoster That Depends if she's attending the school? If she's suspected of having Autism.. Why are the school not aware of this? Does she have a sen plan in place at school? Is she received extra care support ect from the schools senco or does she have no extra needs at school? Xx

She is going to school but struggling alot with the noise and if people get to close to her, I have informed the school a couple of times about this about 1 year ago when she was very suicidal all the time, I was told they would talk to her and give her a pass card to get out of lessons if it got to much for her, unfortunately the next day when she went in she was told there were no cards left and that's the last they ever spoke to her about it. I'm going to arrange another meeting with them as some days when she comes home she is in tears as she struggles to cope but she also doesn't want me to tell them as she does not want to talk to the teachers about this.

PositivityRipples · 12/02/2025 17:05

@GladMintPoster Aww bless her, dla aside for a minute, thats terrible that the school haven't followed that up with any support for her or a pass 😩 I know it's hard because of her age and she obviously doesn't feel comfortable with talking to the teachers about it maybe you can request to speak to her year head and have a meeting on your own and ask them to action the pass for her and let them know that you and the doctor suspect she has autism and she's now on the wait list and take the letter with you so they can add it to her school file.
Did you explain this on the dla form in the school section?
Also who filled in the " someone who knows the child section on the form?
And did you give evidence from the GP that she was and has been suicidal in the past? And that she's been referral for suspected Asd assessment or is there nothing from GP and you've just sent camhs acceptance letter?
It's hard to say if having no evidence from school will affect your claim as every child is different and some children also mask in school. But i also don't know what you've wrote on the form and if you've said she masks in school. And I don't know what additional care needs she has at home with you or outside.
Im not sure if anyone else on the thread has been awarded with just a CAMHS acceptance letter and they could let you know or advise futher ??

Thank you so much for replying, when she was suicidal we phoned CYPS and we're told there is nothing they can do unless she actually tries to take her own life, the doctors said as she was already on waiting list for assessment theres nothing they can do as all they would do is refer her for assessment. No one filled in the someone who knows the child bit on the form as I thought it had to be a professional like a doctor or something. I would have filled it in much better if I had been on this forum then. I'm going to phone school in morning and arrange a meeting with the head of SENCO see if they can help her. She does mask in school she says she has 2 friends she will talk to that's it, she doesn't even ever speak to any of the teachers or anything.

PositivityRipples · 12/02/2025 17:49

@GladMintPoster oh god the doctors are useless aren't they... In the west Midlands we have two seperate places for assessments.. One is neurodevelopmental services which is for neuro Conditions ADHD and asd ect and then we have " rise" to which is under camhs which is for mental health.. So if i was in your situation and already had a referall sent through for asd assessment and the child was suicidal the gp would then also refer through to "rise" rise are so much quicker and see children quicker with any mental health issues. Not sure what area you are but I'm pretty sure the gp can refer a child to a place equivalent to "rise"...
There is also children's mental health charities you can reach out to if you are ever worried about your daughter again and the GP essentials fobs you off... School can also refer any child into mental health services seperate to neurodevelopmental services which is why it's always a good idea to keep school upto date with any difficulties the child has cause it's senco that send a referall into mental health services.. Hope that makes sense and maybe might help in the future.

The " someone who knows the child" section of the form can be filled in by anyone who knows the child, it gives the DM another view of the childs needs daily living difficulties ect from someone else's perspective that can be a family friend, grandparent, father, auntie and of course a senco or teacher.
So you could get " someone who knows the child" to write a letter outlining the child's difficulties help support symptoms ect ect and you can send that in now as additional evidence.
Also if you speak to the senco and you can get any evidence off them that would help your claim to or atleast it will mean they note your daughter's school file so if DM contact the school. Xx

I will definitely contact school and get a family member to write additional info to send off. It's hard to ask anyone about her because apart from me she really doesn't have that much to do with anyone else, she won't leave the house without me or go the shop or anything unless she is literally glued to my side, she says its the only time she feels safe. If I manage to get her to visit family which is not very often she just sits there and doesn't speak to anyone. Up here it's doctors who refer you to cahms then they refer you to assessment, I have never heard of rise so I'll have a look into them see if they could help also xx
