Please feel free to add your scan date and whether it's a new claim/mandatory reconsideration/change of circumstances or renewal.
New claims (NC) - people are being told the wait time has increased to 25 weeks! I would say most are done before this though around the 20 week mark?
Mandatory reconsideration (MC) and Change of circumstances (COC) is around 20-25 weeks.
Renewals tend to be between 15-20 weeks.
If you disagree with the outcome of an MR you can appeal and go to court (tribunal)
Scan date is the date DLA scan your application forms on to their system, if you downloaded your application forms then this will be from when your award will be backdated from. If you called up for forms then the date on those is the date yours will be backdated from.
If successful and claiming universal credit (UC) please update them as this will entitle you to disabled child element adding extra to your award.

Hi I’m going to call (12/9 sd) but can only find my renewal letter with the reference but because of waiting for letters from professionals it was sent in a month late so assume it’s being treated as a new claim so my question would have the reference changed

Just goes to show take everything the call handlers tell you with a pinch of salt! I rang up like an hour ago and was told it was not yet with a decision maker

Just rang and they’ve changed my scan date to 8/10 no idea why she couldn’t tell me, but it’s with a case manager is that different to a decision maker

Originally posted DLA form on 19th July 2024 and did not hear from them until i phoned them on 20th January 2025 and I was told that the form was never received. Then I requested for another form to be sent and re posted the application on 28th January with a cover letter explaining the situation.

To my surprise, woke up today with a back pay since 19th July in my account.

Case managers are different to decision makers. Case managers check your claim first make sure they have all the information they need. Request extra evidence if needed. It then goes back in the queue for the decision maker 😊

@SyMaQu Make sure to call DLA and ask them to disregard and remove the new claim you've sent on 28th Jan else you could find your award changes in a few months and sometimes not for the better as they could process it as a COC they won't be brainy enough to remove it themselves you have to re-explain their error and ask them to disregard it x

Amazing thank you, someone else said its who it goes to after a decision maker so i think ill just try not to think about the claim for the next few weeks.

The wait is awful! I was ok until it got to around 15 weeks then it was all I could think about 🙄

I called for the first time today, as I have finally recieved my daughters ASD report. I wondered if it was worth sending it in... wasn't expecting an update but the lady seemed astonished to see ours at the top of the list 🤔 I'll take it with a pinch of salt. SD 21/10

Seen on previous threads people emailing DLA and their claims being dealt with quicker. Has anyone done this? I’ve had two letters stating 15 weeks, not heard anything else.

COC 19th August :- rang yesterday afternoon it’s with decision maker apparently on the last page.. don’t even know what that means.

now I’m even more impatient 😅don’t know how much longer I have to wait when it’s with DM

You’ll get a letter stating what rates you’re getting and you’ll also receive back payment into your bank account. You will probably get back payment before the letter comes! Congratulations :)
