DLA WAIT TIMES THREAD 63

1000 replies

zoeybrooks45 · 22/01/2025 21:02

Please feel free to add your scan date and whether it's a new claim/mandatory reconsideration/change of circumstances or renewal.
New claims (NC) - people are being told the wait time has increased to 25 weeks! I would say most are done before this though around the 20 week mark?
Mandatory reconsideration (MC) and Change of circumstances (COC) is around 20-25 weeks.
Renewals tend to be between 15-20 weeks.
If you disagree with the outcome of an MR you can appeal and go to court (tribunal)
Scan date is the date DLA scan your application forms on to their system, if you downloaded your application forms then this will be from when your award will be backdated from. If you called up for forms then the date on those is the date yours will be backdated from.
If successful and claiming universal credit (UC) please update them as this will entitle you to disabled child element adding extra to your award.

Scan date is 30th september found these pages while googling DLA wait times 😆. Are they upto this date yet does anyone know. Seems like forever ago. Rung a good few times to be told it's 25 weeks you don't need to ring back we will contact you. I feel so embarrassed ringing but at the same time the not knowing is awful.

We've just been awarded this week, they received my paperwork on 11/09. So fingers crossed that it won't be much longer for you x

Hi
can someone help, I asked UC to backdate disabled child element and carers element. I recived a letter today saying they have only backdated the disabled child element and updated my statements. There is no mention of carers element on any of my statements. Thankyou.

Phoned up again today as I’ve seen loads of awards from around the same dates as us.
SD 24/09 NC
after previously being told it will be late February they have now said late March. I’m going to try putting it to the back of my mind now because it’s driving me a bit nuts. I’d love to know how they work through these applications.

Oh nooo I hope not!!Am constantly checking my phone every day now.

@mumofoneAlonebutokay Its very common for all children on the autistic spectrum to elope ( wandering) that doesn't mean the child is severely mentally impaired, its also very common for a neurotypical child of age 6 and under to elope ( wandering) and it's why all children under 6 should be in constant supervision, so the need on it's own isn't above that of a child under 6 ( I don't know how old your child is) I'd really advise you to get some advise before entering the tribunal of how to word what you are trying to express about your child and how to explain each point of the smi rule about your child and cross reference it with evidence, the " need" you are talking about with eloping and stating that the dla haven't recognised the " need" to falls under the care component and you've been awarded HRC so they have acknowledged the need in the instances you are talking about, legislation for smi and vuw is very specific, I would hate for you to go into the tribunal and state the child is smi because they elope.
I'm really trying to help which is why I'm replying to you. You will have to give examples of impaired social functioning, and impaired intelligence and extreme disruptive behaviour and extreme behaviour as a whole. Unfortunately eloping on its own doesn't cover the legislation for the 3 points they've said your child was declined under. You may already know all this and are being sarcastic and banter with your reply here but just incase thought I'd give my input to hopefully help you. Good luck with tribunal 🤞🏼

Thank you for explaining, this is very helpful x

I've screenshotted and when I prepare the appeal I will use what you've said - eloping itself isn't smi, it's true but her needs are really severe and a simple shopping trip done just now has been so stressful!

Thank you, I'll need all the luck I can get with these people x

Poobs2022 · 31/01/2025 15:28

I can't actually remember when I sent my stuff off. He was 3 Oct 11th and I'm sure I sent them around a week after 😬I never got a letter to say they'd received it but I know others who also didn't get one - she was told they're not sending them out for the mobility part so I'm hoping they do have our claim and I'm not just waiting for nothing 😂

mumofoneAlonebutokay · 31/01/2025 15:37

zoeybrooks45 · 31/01/2025 12:32

i won’t be too surprised if we have the same DM look at our case. They also described my child as a “happy & lively” so he can’t have severe mental impairment. I am annoyed I even have to go through this. My child attend a speclist provision with an ECHP but they keep referring to the fact that we are under 5 years and it’s normal. Even the paediatrician wrote that the consultation did not happen cause of no compliance and refusal. Ridiculous honestly. There is always that chance they can overturn during 4 weeks after submitted. It’s really straight forward online form and you can even submit evidence online. Good luck x

Thank you and the same to you

Yes, a happy child surely is a sign of a dedicated parent 😪😄

It's a long process but we'll get there 🥰

Caious · 31/01/2025 14:32

Thankyou will do.

If you requested the carers element then just wanted to say it took them 3 months to sort my back pay. They do the disability and carers element seperatly.

PositivityRipples · 31/01/2025 15:51

@mumofoneAlonebutokay Its okay and you're welcome i just want to make sure your child gets what they deserve sometimes all it takes is wording things in a different way or explaining differently or showing them this is where you can find the evidence on my claim of the disruptive behaviour and here's where you can find my examples of impaired social functioning ect so they know what part of the form or evidence that you've showed that, if that makes sense, there should be lots online that explains futher and may help you too x

Kidsanchaos · 31/01/2025 16:08

Congratulations to everyone whos finally been awarded over the last few days. I cant believe some of the rejections I'm seeing though the reasoning seems insane to me. I really hope you get what your children are entitled to after going down mr or tribunal route, it really should not be this difficult though should it 😔

@PositivityRipples I just want to say thank you for all the valuable advice you give on here. You've just stopped me in my tracks as I was writing up some more information to go along with additional evidence I was sending in. The whole thing I'd written was full of positives about my daughter as I'd felt so guilty about focusing on the negatives with her application, the whole thing felt so stark and clinical to me and I wanted to write some more about who she is as a person, my thinking was they might view her as a human and not just a case, I was writing about her difficulties but saying how wonderful she is too. I most definitely will not be sending this in now after reading what you have said.
I'm also debating sending in the piece of evidence itself, its from 0-19 team, my daughters patient journal and although on the whole it evidences a lot of what I'm telling them about my daughter there are a couple of inconsistencies, which aren't actually inconsistencys it's just the wording of how it's been typed up, but now I'm worried it could be read the wrong way by a dm. I was also writing and explanation to go along with it so that there wasn't any confusion or it be interpreted in the wrong way but now I don't even think I'm going to send it in just incase it is still taken the wrong way. Frustrating because it is evidence that supports but because there are 3 small points that could be interpreted incorrectly and could, by what I've read, swing it the wrong way for my daughter. One of the points was saying there's improvement in one aspect of her many issues but it doesn't elaborate and the improvement is so minimal it has no impact on her care needs whatsoever, this could be taken the wrong way and they focus on the word improvement couldn't they, so yeah I'm not going to send it in now just in case. But I'll be torn about it and worry that I've also done her a disservice by not sending extra evidence that could potentially support her application 🤦‍♀️ If you were me would you send it or not?

Dahliasrule · 31/01/2025 16:21

NC 30/09. DGS has been awarded HRC and LRM on the 28th of this month. So relieved and pleased for them.
DD and I have been silent watchers of this thread and have to thank all contributors for the valuable information and support we found here. Hoping others on or near our date hear soon.

Thank you🥺❤️

Im taking the weekend to relax with dd - she's got sweeties and sausages, her favourite foods 😄😄 and peppa pig on the tablet snd classic eastenders on the tv, in bed with mummy - perfect

Then next week I'll get to work, and I'll definitely implement what you've said x

ShesTheBadAss11 · 31/01/2025 16:58

Is DLA open on the weekends ? Never called at the weekend so was just wondering if they work weekends ?

PositivityRipples · 31/01/2025 17:35

@Kidsanchaos Hello, it does feel stark and clinical and to the point when you're writing just negatives doesn't it 🥺😩 unfortunately the DM just follow a guide and legislation and most of the time they have to sieve through evidence to get to the parts that they need which is usually sieving through the positives, unfortunately the process is very much a case system, with the amount of applications it's impossible for them to take the time to get to know the child. The DM is literally looking through evidence for an answer to a question on their guide.
Is the 0-19 the health and school nursing service? Which is seperate to the sen team? Or are they all one in your area.
I can't really comment on whether you should send the 0-19 journal cause I don't know your daughter or her struggles or what is written in there but if you feel it supports lots that you've said and backs it up then you should absolutely send it, you could write a letter yourself to go along side it and staple it to it and say ( parent notes on what's wrote in journal) and maybe say something like to just elaborate on what so and so has said about the improvement, dispite the minor inprovement in this area the child's care needs are still as you've explained in the claim form and it makes no difference to the care given or needed or the support to the child.. ( obviously I'm just giving a general example cause I don't know ahst it says) it's entirely upto you what you send to support your claim but like i say you can put side notes when needed as it's your child it's your claim and any professionals you decide to include should be in support and if they aren't don't include them. Sorry if that doesn't help. But I really can't say yes or no 🤦🏻‍♀️

PositivityRipples · 31/01/2025 17:38

@mumofoneAlonebutokay Yes take the time out to relax because although all these things are about the child / children as parents you've got to take care of your own mental health and wellbeing too.. Its alot doing all of this and waiting and hoping to and all the other appointments and meetings and schools or nursery 😅

Kidsanchaos · 31/01/2025 19:19

@PositivityRipples that's very helpful thank you. I'm going to go through it again and cross reference if I've already given supporting evidence for the things mentioned in it when I sent off the application. I might already have sent some evidence for everything in it so it would just be extra evidence of evidence already provided. So If there's a chance that any small thing written in it could be interpreted the wrong way then I won't send it. I think it will only complicate things.

Oh and I think 0-19 here is same as a school nurse, so they cover most things across the board? GP reffered my daughter to them, they have supported her with a range of things then reffered her on to other departments/clinics like for example the continence team.

Thank you again for the help on here, even when it's not been for me personally, I've found it so helpful reading what you have posted for other people 😊

I'd give them a call on Monday and ask what info they specifically want!? Though that's disheartening as it means another bloody wait!

Thats annoying!! Would be so much better if they could ring and ask then it would make it a little quicker. Just wondering what evidence did you send in the first place as I'm scan date 30/09 and worried this will happen . To be honest I didn't have a lot to send regarding my son!

ShesTheBadAss11 · 01/02/2025 08:55

Thankyou. Glad you got awarded honestly I've got a bad feeling we won't be awarded for my son. In terms of evidence I don't have an awful lot so I think that is certainly going to play a part in getting declined.
