Hiya massive congratulations to everyone that's been awarded 🎊and massive well done to good luck to everyone else that is waiting🤞 I was just woundering is it different dm's depending on the age? I don't think we will get anywhere as she's not 2 just yet scan date 31/07

I was wondering that, if different decision makers have different ages but no idea how it all works. My little one isn’t 2 yet either so worried her age will go against her :(

Anybody here waiting on renewal outcome?
Our first renewal, never got sent any forms or info on renewing, phoned and enquired about forms with 8 weeks to go until it finishes, got told we had to call and ask for them 6 months in advance, we got a 1 year award and it took 5 months to be approved- so we had to reapply a month later? surely not. Anyway, sent back the forms the next day- now not
sure if We have a 20+ week wait ahead of us, or if renewals are quicker? Anybody know please?

Sorry if not very helpful but when I had to renew dc for may, I sent forms back in Feb and was awarded week before due to end. I'm now waiting for other dc renewal that ends in Nov, so hopefully it will be the same, if they award again. Apparently they are meant to do renewals before the end date. Not sure if that is still the case x

MelTom88 · 13/10/2024 20:45

Well im gunna be giving them the weekly pester Tuesday. I was told last week it's finally with a DM and now they are giving decisions to the beginning of June I'm feeling slightly more hopeful they come to a conclusion one way or another. SD 12/6

MumToThreeLittleOnes · 13/10/2024 20:47

Has anyone had to wait longer than 20 weeks for a decision on a new claim?

Hi hope someone could help me clarify something? My son was awarded MRC a few months ago and last month we received a form to complete before he turns 3 regarding mobility. I marked that his care needs have also changed due to his recent autism diagnosis and other results we got back and explained that things have become more challenging over the past few months but didn’t confirm a change of circumstances as he recently started nursery where he now recieves significant support and I was waiting until he turned 3 for mobility form as only just awarded DLA recently. If he is awarded mobility component will they also consider the increase in care needs along with his lifelong diagnosis which is detailed in the report? This is more comprehensive than my initial application and I’m wondering if it could potentially lead to a change to HRC. There are several issues including hearing and vision impairments with very recent assessments highlighting these along with ASD. I'm aware they could also decrease MRC too. If he does get awarded HRC will they backdate the difference from when new form was scanned?

srellim · 14/10/2024 01:46

I forgot to add are these types of claims taking the same length of time to process as new claims?

He will only be considered HRM because he's under 5 if he receives HRC, to receive HRC he needs significantly more support through out the night every night, he will be considered mobility at age of 5 otherwise, hope that helps. It's also not so easy to get HRM even though the check list is simple the DM are harsh and make you fight that one under the SMI rule. I'm currently going through COC as my son turned 3 August and was already receiving HRC even though sent in 35 pages of reports from all professionals stating he should get it under SMI rule I know I will have to go the whole way like a lot of people do

COC taking 20-25 weeks, MR are taking up to 25 weeks and tribunal depending on council about a year wait

Has anyone had to wait longer than 20 weeks for a decision on a new claim?

I spoke to a nice guy and he told me that if it goes past 20 week to call back and escalate it as it should not take that long.

srellim · 14/10/2024 07:47

@Mommy2boys30

Yes he does have needs throughout the night which paediatrician mentioned in his l asd report. Takes ages to fall asleep over an hour, wakes up frequently due to banging head and I have to settle him every time. Was told he can get melatonin but I declined for now if it gets unbearable will try it then. I did mention he has no danger awareness, struggles with balance due to vision, has extreme sensory issues, still eating mashed foods only no solids due to that and Is non verbal also Global Development Delay. Honestly it's a lot and was told he qualifies for hrc by the doctor which made me think it might change to hrc but I guess most likely it won't if it's that hard to get it!

If you have it in reports there shouldn't be a problem it's the mobility side that's hard, my son sounds the very same as you, my son walks around with eyes closed which peadatrican seen and other professionals and he has been to see ophthalmologist for his eyes, have you put in for a COC

Mommy2boys30 · 14/10/2024 09:05

Just phoned 7/06 for COC still at top of pile to be allocated to a DM

I'm not sure I understand the mobility part at 3yrs is it only possible to get hrm or nothing no lrm and at 5 yrs it's lrm ?

Yeah that's right, if a child is eligible then they can receive HRM from 3 years old. They will not grant LRM until a child is 5 years old as they can say that the mobility issues may be due to their age if that makes sense?

Yeah just like the last person said HRM mobility is awarded from the age of 3 years old under 2 rules VUW or SMI but have to be in receipt of HRC to consider it, doesn't mean guarantee you get both, but from age of 5 they will be given LRM or HRM. There is a check list online in more detail what decision makers are looking for

MumToThreeLittleOnes · 14/10/2024 12:16

CONGRATS!👏🏼
I’m sure they say 3-5 working days so Wednesday to Friday you would receive back payment. Sorry I can’t help with UC.
What was your SD?

You need to submit a COC first along with completing the mobility aspect. Then they will consider it. You need to call and ask for this and then they will send out the form. Exactly only LRM from 5 years old. 3 years have to already get HRC before HRM. unfortunately it’s luck of the draw some get HRC with no evidence at all while people with lots of evidence get MRC. you know your child best if they will meet the criteria then fill in the forms. All the best.

zoeybrooks45 · 14/10/2024 12:37

I haven’t called for a long time seems they changed the message to include a warning at the beginning. Update for those waiting for MR we are probably around last week of May to first two weeks June. please update this thread if you have heard back from MR.

I was the same was starting to doubt I'd get it then thought let me ring one last time. If you have rang today I would then next week too lol

pinkcr0cs · 14/10/2024 12:45

20 weeks tomorrow (SD 28/5) , called today & was told still no decision.
The lady on the phone said to me to try calling again tomorrow and they can transfer me to another team who can escalate it. Feel like it's just my luck for it to be taking so long 🤣

That’s exactly how I feel! Questioning if I included enough evidence etc.
I last rang on Thursday and was told it’s top of the pile waiting to go to a DM, I might give them another call this Thursday if I don’t hear anything 🫣
