Anyone know how long it normally takes for carers allowance to be awarded? And if it gets back dated to the start of the DLA award?

UC took 24 hours to verify component. I heard it takes months to get backpay from the elements. I was awarded Monday and still heard nothing yet about it. But child's element was added Wednesday (found out Tues about the award) x

It depends if you work or not and if your under threshold for the whole period of time, I know someone that got awarded from dla scan date but had it all take back off them on UC, it says on system they won't but if a decision makers looks at the paper work and see when child got awarded from then they will potentionally. I only had to wait 2 weeks had a phone call of a decision maker to go over a few things got awarded but had have it start August and not July because of my earnings the way they work it.

So week 16, just rang they said no decision yet, but should be made soon. Let’s hope so!!

Dunwaiting · 09/09/2024 11:09

@Vicclou were on the same week I’m to afraid to call incase it’s a decline it’s been so long 😔

I know the feeling, it’s so stressful I don’t have much evidence for my 12 year old diagnosed autistic son. But I had to take him out of school because he wasn’t coping, has extreme anxiety. Has no sense of danger or direction. Just hard to prove a lot of these things.

he can pace for hours and hours day or night.

its so frustrating having to try and prove these things

hopefully not to much longer for us both x

Well I did an MR for my daughter and put it in on the 1st July (we got care but no mobility which is weird as her disability is severe dyspraxia, hypotonia and hypermobility and adhd) and my letter said she should have a decision in 11 weeks. 😂 I think by looking at these posts, its probably double that isn't it?

They told me the same thing. I asked them to transfer me to someone who could tell me and they did. Phone back and ask to speak to someone that can tell you. They will put you through

I didn't want to read and run. I'm sorry to hear this, so frustrating!
I don't have any advice with the MR process as I'm still waiting but others will.
Please don't give up. You know your child best. x

Ring up and go through the options to the MR option and you request it there . I’m on week 19 of an MR tho so it’s another long wait!!! X

Long term lurker here. Scan date 3/5. Applied for my 12 years old son who has lost a significant amount of vision in the past few years and is now registered blind. Found out today via Monzo back pay, that he's been awarded MRC and HRM. Very pleased for him as it's been a hard few years. I've been very grateful for this group as I've been less stressed knowing not to expect to hear anything around the 15 week mark that they tell everyone. Good luck to everyone still waiting and good luck with MR to those who haven't had positive results ❤️

Spat77 · 10/09/2024 06:22

Hi guys, not sure this is the right place but hoping someone can help, thankyou in advance 😌, my daughters school have put an individual health care plan in place for her, do I send a copy off to DLA to show that she has things in place at school explaining what they will do in terms of her disability? Thankyou again

I don't think that's right lovely. You can't get HRM without HRC x
