So I received a letter asking me to send my daughter's passport in? And a letter that asks what her UK status is and if she was granted stay by the home office! She is 3! I'm so confused! Me my partner and our daughter are British born and I know I wouldn't have said otherwise on the form.
I work 24hrs we get UC so they have already had her birth certificate! I'm pretty sure that DLA would have seen that we claim UC too. So now I have to take her passport to the job centre and get it over to them.
Has this happened to anyone else? And if so how long after this did you get a decision. My scan date is the 19/4 and the letter was sent 19/8.
Any help or opinions would be appreciated

I wonder if you ticked a box wrong? There's a section about nationality etc isn't there?

HangryLimeBeaker · 24/08/2024 08:34

Saw a 25/04 awarded on Facebook. Slightly worried I haven't put enough on the forums but I've sent tons of evidence from NHS that document her behaviour so fingers crossed theh go by the evidence too 🤔 x

For both DS (awarded two years ago) and DD (who I'm waiting for), we did additional sheets with lots of explanation of her issues. The form has so little space to get the real picture across.

Whether it works for DD as well as it did DS, time will tell!

Yeah my hand writing is quite "big" so it really takes up the entire forum quite quickly... I guess we will see if I get rejected. Would make much more sense to go via evidence surely? 🤔

Apparently they only have a very limited amount of time to do each form, so can't spend time wading through evidence.

Plus, it's about care needs, which aren't always documented in the evidence. I sent an OT report which detailed her gait / balance / spatial awareness issues, plus her autism diagnosis, which detailed the traits which saw her diagnosed. It's only my evidence which details the care we give her, and how she's a danger to herself crossing roads etc, for instance. But every child is different, so for some, the evidence will show care needs.

NoWordForFluffy · 24/08/2024 09:33

I think we'll get rejected for not needing enough care, as a lot of our care is actually spending so much time prompting her to do stuff herself, as she's 11, bit actually doing stuff for her. Both we and the OT think she also has ADHD.

The statement part from a professional who knows your child says that she needs constant supervision as no awareness of danger. She had a burn in the beginning of the year and I sent the discharge summary as evidence against the lack of awareness. She also mentioned she identified a global delay in all areas of learning, she's unable to use cutlery, still in nappies etc, no awareness of bedtime expectations due to global delay and is awake for hours during the night. I also sent a sleep referral. I guess where we are getting close we overthink it. But I definitely didn't answer the forums enough. Yes 20 minutes supposedly, but the evidence isn't so overwhelming. They will be able to read through it all

It's difficult, because you definitely start to overthink at 17 sodding weeks! If it was quicker, you wouldn't have time to dwell on what you wrote!

Your evidence has way more info re care than ours does, so hopefully they take the time to read it.

You do see people saying they barely put anything and had no evidence getting awarded though, so there's always hope! 🤞🤞

You too! I think we may, given the award dates this week. Though the bank holiday may push us back. 😩

My daughter's care needs sound similar to your dd and I did claim for her when she was 11 and was awarded HRC for her. Shes nearly 18 now and claiming pip. She has a diagnosis of ADHD and Autism. She needs promoting to do everything over and over again.

Jeanie78 · 24/08/2024 11:37

Scan date 26/04/24, really starting to worry and over think. Bank holiday is inconvenient haha .

Fingers crossed to all those waiting

That's good to know. It's relentless with the prompting, isn't it? And telling her to stop bouncing instead of walking so she doesn't tip herself down the stairs. Again.

I haven't seen anyone with a scan date of 26/04 + get awarded unless under special circumstances like being put as priority. try not to worry x

I find it harder now she's older cause technically she's an adult but mentally she still only 11 it's difficult she tells me I nag her but she goes weeks without a bath if I let her.

Same scan date, I rang Thursday and was told it's in que for DM and to wait till 13th September before calling back. Looking at some date I'm hoping we are next week.
Good luck everyone

AllGoodThingsWillCome · 24/08/2024 20:14

Hi all, could anyone help? I am in the process of doing a COC just for mobility as she has now turned 5. Do I fill the first bit of the form out as in all the name dob address and also about any recent hospital stays etc and then the mobility or do I strictly fill in the mobility part 🥴 thank you in advance.

Same scan date as me. Called last week and also told up phone back on the 13th if I haven’t heard back by then. The wait is awful. Good luck

We are 23/4 and feel like we are the last of our date to hear as know others with a later date have been awarded. I plan on calling them tomorrow morning. Last Tuesday I called and they said waiting in the normal queue and not even with a DM. They did advise wait until 10ths September but the anxiety of waiting 😬
