Hi, I’m sorry to hear this as I know it causes a lot on anxiety!

May be a silly question but have you called them? 😞

No not a silly question at all !
yeah I’ve called a total of 4 times. The last 2 times was in the last week 😩😂 as I was super hopeful watching the dates go by on this .

first time I got a lovely man who was extremely kind told me that it’ll take 25 weeks ☹️ and I thought surely not and tried again a few days later and got an extremely rude woman who literally said “just wait 😐” and hung up ! Brutal !!

not sure how I feel about calling now 😕 as it shattered my hopes. But the wait is frustrating me ! I’m heavily Pregnant and was hoping to get awarded for him to start nursery and all the extra bits he needs before the baby comes 🥺 trying to stay positive 🤞🏽but extremely worried .. what if they don’t recognise his needs ?

I’m sorry you had to deal with that, please do not let that put you off calling. I know it can be tedious but I’d call again tomorrow before the weekend. Explain the situation and see what they have to say.

I really have my fingers crossed for you as this was something that made me incredibly anxious so I can’t imagine how you feel.

Did you provide much evidence? I apologise if this comes across as slightly insensitive. x

I'm 15 weeks on my MR today!! I called because I was told numerous times I'd have a decision today!
The lady on the phone said they are taking 25 weeks!! I know they've had a influx of MRs but 25 weeks after already waiting 15+ weeks is just ridiculous!

Are they saying 25 weeks for new claims??
🙈Insane wait!!

Mommy2boys30 · 23/08/2024 12:15

I think they are saying that amount to cover their own arse if you go with upto 25 weeks worse case scenario but realistically it's 17-18 maybe more, maybe less if your lucky, I don't know why when you get awarded they give and extra year, so there is less pressure then and catch up a little with all these claims, my original scan date was 05/02 got awarded HRC end of May (16 weeks wait), for my 2.5 year old and now currently COC 7/06 scan date (11 weeks) to get mobility as he's 3 and they didn't give it him in original claim it's such a battle all the time

Hi, long time lurker here, but thought I would just jump in and say I called today for an update for MR nearly 15 weeks waiting and was told also its taking up to 25 weeks, apparently they have an influx 🫣

Also no one else will discuss this now with me other than the MR options they all send me that way.

Cassiex · 23/08/2024 12:46

Called back .. all because I did t tick the nationality box 🤣🤣🤣 omg like they could just call me and ask! Wow so another painful wait commences 🫣

SamBusyMam · 23/08/2024 14:06

They've probably had an influx of MR's because they're declining claims for ridiculous reasons.

It’s such a relief! Nope, no texts or anything, I just caved and called on my lunch break at work. Have you called recently? Hopefully you’re not waiting too much longer!

I called on Tuesday this week and they advised in the new claims queue and hadn’t been sent to a DM yet. :)

Autism doesnt qualify you automatically no matter what. It's nothing to do with diagnosis it's care needs, there's a whole spectrum of autism and some children's care needs are more than others.

2 of my children have autism, 1 I get hrc, lrm for and the other I haven't applied for as their care needs aren't more than that of another child their age. My child that gets hrc is nearly 14, soils day and night, is in specialist provision at school, has to be put in the shower or they won't shower, runs away as also has pda, had camhs involvement, specialist therapy and salt, is dangerous in behaviours, is verbal but doesn't know how to express emotions or feeling and just blows up and destroys things, on melatonin ect, the other child has just done their gcses with majority 8s and a 9 in English. Both diagnosed, both completely different.

There's been a lot of reports I've seen recently that adhd and autism cases have rose massively for dla claims and I think this is where confusion may come in around it, also not a lot of understanding around autism and the huge spectrum children with it can be on.

aw thank you for being so supportive! He is 3 years old non verbal , suspected autism (haven’t got the diagnosis) , has violent streaks multiple times daily, still in nappies as communication and particularity has hindered potty training wakes multiple times for the night . Tries to run away and no awareness of danger in public . Sen started with him at nursery and nursery insistent of his needs to the point where they said he needs to be DLA awarded for them to care for him from September. Included salt letters , nursery filled out more info , health visitor assessment and birth certificate so not much evidence but I did go into a lot of detail about his care needs
