Hi guys, sorry to jump on the post, i know we’ve got a pretty long wait ahead of us scan date was only 26/07. I just have a quick question, so I put on information about referrals etc that my daughter was awaiting an appointment for the continence team(already been diagnosed off peadiatrician for urinary enuresis) for help with my daughters incontinence we now have an appt on 20/09. After I’ve been to this appointment and got a copy of what’s been discussed next steps etc. do I just get it photocopied add my daughters name and DOB at the top and send it in straight away? Or do I need to add something else with it so that they know it’s extra information? I’ve already sent off copies of all our peadiatrician letters that he’s wrote explaining her needs and what medication she’s prescribed etc.
she’s also on the pathway awaiting neurodevelopment assessment.
thankyou sorry for the long post

Yes, I've always used child's full name, dob and reference number. Then just sent it straight to DLA. I'm waiting for a paed report to come next week to forward to them also x

hi everyone, have been following these posts for a while and just wanted to thank everyone here, this place has been a really big help over the last 17 weeks

little one got awarded a few days back, was a long mission, waited just over 17 weeks

definately include as much evidence as you have, after reading the facebook groups, they give you an impression that evidence is not needed and alot of the posts are confusing with so many contradictory posts on facebook

from reading up on the DM guidelines the only award you can get without any evidence is LR

and be sensible when filling in the forms, download and print a draft first, you dont need lots and lots of writing as the tick boxes cover most of the care needs a child can have, i think more then anything these DM are not trained to understand the medical evidence but to judge how accurate parents are being when filling in the forms

Congratulations x

So refusal letter arrived. How do I argue these? I put times and what I do on my application form. He doesn't require care at night but I assumed that's for HRC anyway. Any advice for the MR?

I’m sorry to hear you have been declined. We haven’t been accepted yet, we are 16 weeks plus 4 days but I couldn’t just scroll by.

When we sent off our form we completed a diary, like a day in the life. I had a piece of paper and I wrote down every thing we did, everything that happened and every prompt and reminder I gave. For example, the day we did the diary after school he ran off into the road as he saw a dog (he’s terrified) and then he couldn’t understand why I wouldn’t let him run into oncoming cars, how many prompts and reminders I had to give him and how his behaviour escalated. I wrote how he hit and kicked me for keeping him safe. I also wrote down that my son was asked 5 times to get in the bath and with each ask his meltdown escalated. I included the phrases and actions that happened alongside the meltdown and how long it took to calm him down each time. Additionally, I put on there that during bath time we asked 3 times for him not try and drown his brother, 2 times for him to stop drinking the soapy water etc.. Amongst other things 😂. I’m unsure if the diary will help as not been awarded yet but might be something you can look at including in your reconsideration to emphasise the difference in their behaviour/care needs etc.. compared to a peer of a similar age.

hopefully that makes sense
x

If you call up to do an MR, what happens? Do you tell them more info, do you fill in a form? I've no clue what happens when I call. Thanks in advance

Did they not send you any other letter with the reasons how the DM came to the decision, that would explain to you what you need to give them in an MR.

This is all it says. I just wondered what happens when you call, do I argue these points and they write it down or do they just say ok and send it to another dm.

Sorry to have posted so much everyone, I'm just stressed and not knowing how best to get this for my son. Fear of the unknown I guess. I don't want to call for an MR and then be floundering on the phone 😒. Thanks for all your replies and support xx

you first need to ask to see the reasons for the decision, they will send you a detailed response with why the DM has made their decision explaining all the points. after you get the reasons for the decision you can then refute them in a mandotory review or send in the right evidence if one of the reasons was you didnt have the right evidence.

Hi All,

Parking - scan date 22/05/2024.

MamaMoon3 · 17/08/2024 23:02

Sorry if this is posted in the wrong place, this is my first time posting. If anyone can direct me in the right place.
My daughter’s scan date was only 26/7 so long wait to go.
The issue I’m having is I currently claim UC and have been placed on a mandatory job program were I am required to attend training sessions and under take job search etc. I have had to cancel a couple of these appointment due to my daughter being ill. I am a single mother and she has major attachment issues as part of her ASD and will not stay with anyone but me. Anyway. I am not being told by my advisor at this program that I should be able to put my daughter in to external childcare nursery to make myself more available for work. There is no way my daughter would go in to another childcare setting other than school. My advisor stated ‘well if she goes to school for 6 hours a day then she can go to childcare aswel’ he also said I can’t expect an employer to just let me leave work all the time to pick my daughter up so that will have to stop. I’m sorry but what!? I regularly get calls from school to collect her/help with toileting. How can this just stop. I feel like I’m being put under so much pressure from them to undertake job search requirements and repeatedly threatened with sanctions because I have to care for my daughter. Does anybody know if there can be a stop put to my job search requirements until DLA is awarded?

best place to ask would probably be fb group for dla they have over 100k members and you can post anon if you want, someone there will probably know and be able to explain

Someone on a previous thread had the same circumstances. Unfortunately, from what I know the only way you can stop work coach commitments is if you are caring for somebody or disabled yourself and unable to work. The only way this can be verified is being in receipt of DLA then claiming careers allowance/elements. You do need to attend any commitments while waiting. It might be worth while explaining your circumstances and the wait for DLA. These work coaches can be really miserable human beings, I am sorry to hear that he hasn’t been so understanding towards your situation, they really lack human empathy.

Scan date 19/04

just turned on my old phone and I had received a text message Friday to say they’ve decided my son qualifies. I did update my mobile number but they obviously didn’t change it 😂
Does anyone know when the back pay is likely to come in?

WhereIsMyPhone · 18/08/2024 16:43

anyone with a scan date before or around 16/04 still waiting? Starting to worry 😬

Hi, I got a decision 6/06 for mrc. I have an appointment for my daughter at the end of September and she is receiving a blind certificate they have said most likely will be as severely sight impaired. Will this take it from mrc to hrc? Shes only 10 months old so I feel like because of her age they will just keep it at mrc, she does have other conditions, so I didn’t expect the mrc to begin with but when I got the decision I didn’t want to argue it as I knew she was getting this certificate. Any advice would be appreciated 🙂

Don't forget its about her care needs not diagnosis, although sight impaired is different, if you need to care for her between 11pm-7am for long periods of times and every night then they will consider HRC, I have HRC for my 3 year old (he only just turn 3 last week), I'm currently doing a COC for mobility which is taking same amount of time of new claims, you will have to ask them to do a COC and send in all evidence for them consider change. Hope that helps

Hi does anyone know how long change of circumstances are taking currently?

Upto 20 weeks just like new claim, I'm currently on week 10 of COC

Tardisdalek95 · 19/08/2024 07:26

fingers crossed that there is some good news for people this week 🤞🏻

scan date is 23/4 so will be 17 weeks exactly on Tuesday. Hopefully a decision this week but know we could still be waiting a few more weeks. Does anyone else have the 23/4?

NoWordForFluffy · 19/08/2024 07:38

17 weeks does seems to be a good week for many people, from what I've seen. So 🤞 for everyone with w/c 22.04 this week!

I'm 29/04 and getting stupidly nervous now.
