snap ! Same scan date 17:04 although Mine is a clerical case and when I last called they told me I could be waiting up to 25weeks for National insurance number for my son to release DLA payment😖pregnant and hoping that God is working to make this as fast as possible so my son can get what he needs before baby is born . The stress is overwhelming

Hope it doesn’t take that long and you have it sorted soon!! I can imagine how stressed you must feel trying to get everything sorted before baby arrives. Good luck with everything!! I called today and no decision has been made, asked for them to send a text once they have made a decision. I wish I’d managed to sort all this sooner. I had no idea it would take this long.

Thank you for your support ! Literally my thoughts exactly!! Why didn’t I do this sooner ?! No choice but to wait it out I guess , but I have tried to reach out to this forum to see if anyone is in the same boat or knows anything about these sorts of cases and how long it may take But nobody seems to know which makes it abit harder cos even though past my date has already been awarded and being awarded now I still don’t have an idea where I am in the queue ☹️. Hope you get a decision soon 💕x

@Stacey0909 we had the same scan date (11th April) and I had two letters in the post today saying it had been awarded and back dated pay actually went in yesterday but I hadn't realised. Letter dated 9th august.

My daughter's has been awarded for two years but most people seem to be three years, how do they make that decision? Won't be long until I'll need to do the forms again with the waiting time!!

congratulations on your award I’m still waiting unfortunately not very confident now tbh sometimes they do that if the child is going to secondary school? As there needs change don’t know if that applies to you though but enjoy your two years stress free

sunflowerdaisyrose · 16/08/2024 13:35

@Stacey0909 I hope it's good news when you finally hear. We literally heard today so don't give up yet. She will go to secondary in that time so maybe that is why!

MiamiMimi · 16/08/2024 15:29

Hi, we’ve got a scan date of 2/5, the application is for my 12 yr old dd with ASC. I applied thinking we’d probably be borderline but thought nothing ventured nothing gained so we’ll wait and see.

How long are MRs taking, anyone know?

People on the thread just call for updates as there is no set time limit. However, some receive a decision between 12-17 weeks.

I was told 15 weeks, I'm 14 weeks today and I called for a update on Monday and they said they are working on 16/4 week and I'll probably hear in 3/4 weeks 🙄

HangryLimeBeaker · 16/08/2024 17:52

Congratulations on all the awards today! I hope a lot of you hear next week especially those who have been waiting since early april! xx

Hello,

I just need some help I've send off the application for my son but I've just realised that I've left of some information from his nursery however they don't open till the 5th of September. Would I be able to send this in?

If you have just sent it off then the wait is around 4/5 months so you have plenty of time to add evidence. Include the DOB, full name and your national insurance number on all pages, try to send photocopies.

rosei140 · 16/08/2024 18:15

I've only just sent it off, my scan date is 06/08 But I'm really worried I didn't include enough information. I didn't know about this page or Facebook when I was doing the application so I wasn't really sure what I should be adding. Now I'm reallly worried that I've not included anything

OneTwinklyJoker · 16/08/2024 20:57

Fingers crossed for everyone waiting, hopefully not many left waiting to be awarded for early/mid April. Stay positive xx

Congratulations ☺️
Our scan date is 18/04 so hopefully we'll have some positive news next week 🤞🏻

Thank you lovely, hopefully you haven’t got much of a wait left, stay positive! X

JodiexXXXx · 16/08/2024 21:56

You can include more information and evidence as you go. This is what we did, 20 weeks is a long time frame and within that my child was referred to cdc, accepted & put on to the pathway. A lot can happen / change. I guess they know that which is why they allow additional things. Don't stress too much! It is 20 weeks from your scan date but most are being awarded around week 16 - 18. If you need any help just pop a message in this thread, there's loads of helpful people here who are in the same boat as you x

The 2 years could be you might of mentioned something where it seems the condition may change/get better/worse or if you've put awaiting a diagnosis for something they'd expect that diagnosis would be confirmed/denied in that time (which we knows rubbish my child's autism diagnosis took nearly 4 years). Quite a lot of awards ive seen are 2 years unless it's for a condition that nots going to get better, or an older child that's nearly the age to move to pip. A lot can change in 2 years.

My award last month was for 3 years but that takes me to the day before child's 17th birthday and then I'd have to apply for pip. All diagnosis confirmed, nothing due to change, meds will be the same if not upped so they must of thought given age and diagnoses they'd do it the 3 years. My friend son was awarded for 13 years until day before 17th birthday but he has loads wrong and will likely get worse

Have you tried the Facebook groups? They seem to be very informative. I don’t have it myself but borrowed my husbands after hearing about the groups on there. May be worth a look!! Xx

So refusal letter arrived. How do I argue these? I put times and what I do on my application form. He doesn't require care at night but I assumed that's for HRC anyway. Any advice for the MR?

What are his daily needs? For my daughter's I wrote things like her refusing to get in the shower or bath and it taking 30 minutes plus to persuade her to do these things, her refusing to eat certain meals etc, having to speak for her as she's selective mute. But I'm still waiting so I don't even know if that was the right way to complete it. I just wrote the maximum possible times these things could take on the most difficult days.

If you've already told them these things, I'd just highlight them in mandatory consideration and say how this differs to another child his age. Possibly add some more evidence which shows them, if you can, or point them in the direction of the evidence which shows it.

He is suspected ADHD. I've put in for a referral- waiting to hear back. On a school day I have to wash him, lay clothes out, dress him bcoz its just quicker otherwise the prompting is continual. He gets distracted by anything and doesnt do it. bath him, prompt him to do anything really. He can't do laces, I get pull on trousers as he struggles with buttons. I portion his food all day as he doesn't know when to stop eating otherwise. He has no sense if road dangers and awareness. He has even managed to use another's child's glucose testing finger pricker thing which was a nightmare with blood tests after. 😳. He is continually talking, shouts out random things, never sits still. I feel I'm calming him down all day. The school are not interested as they are changing to a nurture school and my boy is less obvious as he masks there and the school are taking in children with higher needs and they are the priority to them.

Hi guys, sorry to jump on the post, i know we’ve got a pretty long wait ahead of us scan date was only 26/07. I just have a quick question, so I put on information about referrals etc that my daughter was awaiting an appointment for the continence team(already been diagnosed off peadiatrician for urinary enuresis) for help with my daughters incontinence we now have an appt on 20/09. After I’ve been to this appointment and got a copy of what’s been discussed next steps etc. do I just get it photocopied add my daughters name and DOB at the top and send it in straight away? Or do I need to add something else with it so that they know it’s extra information? I’ve already sent off copies of all our peadiatrician letters that he’s wrote explaining her needs and what medication she’s prescribed etc.
she’s also on the pathway awaiting neurodevelopment assessment.
thankyou sorry for the long post

hi everyone, have been following these posts for a while and just wanted to thank everyone here, this place has been a really big help over the last 17 weeks

little one got awarded a few days back, was a long mission, waited just over 17 weeks

definately include as much evidence as you have, after reading the facebook groups, they give you an impression that evidence is not needed and alot of the posts are confusing with so many contradictory posts on facebook

from reading up on the DM guidelines the only award you can get without any evidence is LR

and be sensible when filling in the forms, download and print a draft first, you dont need lots and lots of writing as the tick boxes cover most of the care needs a child can have, i think more then anything these DM are not trained to understand the medical evidence but to judge how accurate parents are being when filling in the forms
