Congrats hun!! Did you call and find out or did you get a text?

Thank you. They sent a text and then I called for rate and length of award 😊

I applied with my 4 yr old for these reasons and also because he is visually impaired. My award letter does not mention anything about him being nearly blind it just mentions abouts his toileting and care needs through the day and night and he got awarded high rate for that, he also go high rate mobility but that was because he is almost blind. Hope that helps x

Thanks for your reply
I'm week 13 and the nerves have finally caught up with me
Fingers crossed we get a similar outcome πŸ˜ƒ

Respectfully, I think you’ve missed my point… priority cases for children needs are different I am not talking about that . I am taking financially. Alot of people ask for priority for financial reason.. NOT because of their child’s needs. If someone's child is more disabled than mine (which im
sure they’re many) I completely agree they should be priority over my child, that’s why I hadn’t claimed for my son (ADHD) for 8 years.. but when we are talking financially for me, it’s different. Alot of people struggle financially (including myself.) someone may be able to get priority due to struggles with money but who’s child may not be as β€˜bad’ as mine… anyway it’s very hard to communicate and understand eachother via typing. Anyway take care, good luck!! 🀞🏼

They put it as financial hardship for many different reasons, it not just because someone says they can’t afford something it’s more parents having to give up work to care for there child that would have been in school but they can’t because for many reasons that child can’t be in school or if a child need a extra person to help because it’s to dangerous for just one person to look after them or a urgency to adapt there home to make it more safe and suitable for there child, there’s many reasons, I understand some people probably try to get priority so they don’t have to wait but they won’t get accepted because it would need to show there needs for it on there claim too. There is some call holders that make cases a priority when they think someone should have heard there decision by now just to hurry the dm along but there’s not many that do that.

Hi all, been watching this thread for a while now and finally caved and rang this afternoon ha found out my son has been awarded mrc my scan date was 28/2 just a quick question as I can't seem to find the posts about universal credit. When I go to change of circumstance and they ask what date this changed do I put the date the back pay goes to, my scan date or today's date? Thanks

Date the forms got scanned from DLA. And pop a note in your journal and ask for back pay of carers element (if you get it) and disabled child element and put that the reason for late reporting is that you were waiting for a decision from DLA

Called 16/01/24
scan 15/02/24
award to 1 child 6/06/24
refused 2nd child 6/06/24
MR raised 7/06/24
Carer element on UC approved this week & letter saying to back date on journal for child 1 and what the payments are plus they re did my passed few statements so it’s got the care amount on but no payment yet 🀞 tomo or Monday …
No reply from them about Child disability element.
they messaged late last night asking when am i available for a meeting to verify who lives in my house , bit strange but I’ve replied my availability.

I sent off new extra evidence from paeds and SALT for child 2 so hopefully the MR over turns his claim. No idea how long I’m assuming it’s back to 15 weeks ish ?!?!

UC have now said they made a mistake and the appointment is not to validate who lives in my house but because they need me to take the original dla letter in with my sons award as they need proof in person that he gets dla… does this mean that even though they changed passed statements and sent a letter to journal with the we owe you carer element and how much will now be with held ? The appointment is not for another 3 weeks !!!!!

Gave in and called the 1523 way. On hold 55mins but a lovely lady answered and said my claim is currently in the DMs que and to call back next week as I should have a decision by then.
Got to week 15 without even thinking about it but the last week has been torture. I didn’t have much evidence at all but have the backing of his nursery and HV. Just praying it’s enough as he really needs some extra funding for nursery as they’re struggling to meet his needs.
Good luck to all still waiting!

Awful isn’t it! I’ve been scanning these threads that long now that I feel I probably know more than the call handlers πŸ˜‚ congrats on your award x

Matilde08 · 20/06/2024 18:35

Congrats to all who have been awarded today πŸ’πŸ‘πŸ»πŸ’πŸŽ‰πŸŽŠ

Had a bit of breakdown last night..I think all the waiting, anxieties, triggers built up and get that confusing decision.
Today that upset turned into anger and like No, it's not right and I will fight for my boy even if I need another 7 months. Hubby said it's a bit like a slap into face..letting wait anxiously all those months end then just throw at least something πŸ˜”
Doing loads of research all day to be ready for MR. So DLA saga continues for me πŸ€¦πŸ»β€β™€οΈπŸ’ƒπŸ»

Definitely keep fighting for what you and your son deserve πŸ’ͺ
It must be really hard having to put yourself through it all again, but I genuinely think it's the right thing to do as your award can't have been correct πŸ˜•

Finally got through after 90 mins. Was told there was a message put out today from DM saying the 20 weeks wait isn't right. It's taking 15 to get to DM.

My scan date is 08/03. Should apparently go to a DM tomorrow

I was told in the week it would go to a decision maker Friday aswell before I got put on priority same scan date as you xx awarded today

Well I'm glad you have been scanning these threads because it really helped me out πŸ˜‚ what's your scan date if you don't mind me asking? Surely they must be coming to an end with the Feb dates?! X

28/2!
I actually wish it would take a few weeks longer because SALT are writing up a report to support his ASD diagnosis which would of been brill to send but I don’t think I’ll get it there in time now as they said I won’t have the report until next Friday 😩 but at least I have some evidence for an MR (hopefully won’t need it) xx

Oh wow! Have you chased up your claim at all? Unfortunately I think you may be right and it might be too late, let just hope it isn't needed for an MR. Its so gutting that they couldn't of made this report a little sooner for you, it's a constant battle! Xx

fluffypooch · 20/06/2024 20:14

@Emz112 your the first I've seen with the same sd as me ❀️ good luck 🀞🏼

Magicmushroomsauce · 20/06/2024 20:20

Parking SD 12/04. They have managed to lose my drivers licence and marriage certificate though that I had to send in. So will have to call back next week to chase that. I was promised a call last week but nothing..!!!

Garfield456 · 20/06/2024 20:25

@Matilde08 I hope your ok, awful what you and your child have been put through. Hoping for a more positive outcome from the MR for you. X
