Did you ask for a text to be sent when they made there decision when you spoke to them this morning?

I have asked this she said she would add a note to the case worker- so may be worth doing

Anyone waiting for back dated child disability element mine

got sent to DM 8/4
got escalated 23/5
finally got back dated money in the bank 19/6

Called 16/01/24
scan 15/02/24
award to 1 child 6/06/24
refused 2nd child 6/06/24
MR raised 7/06/24
Carer element on UC approved this week & letter saying to back date on journal for child 1 and what the payments are plus they re did my passed few statements so it’s got the care amount on but no payment yet 🀞 tomo or Monday …
No reply from them about Child disability element.
they messaged late last night asking when am i available for a meeting to verify who lives in my house , bit strange but I’ve replied my availability.

I sent off new extra evidence from paeds and SALT for child 2 so hopefully the MR over turns his claim. No idea how long I’m assuming it’s back to 15 weeks ish ?!?!

This is about you saying people being made priority, I get it annoys you but I’m hoping only genuine people get made priority. I got made priority because my son was in mainstream school, school then decided that they can not cater for his needs, that meant I had to stop work, meaning I only only had universal credit of Β£1100 a month (including housing element) I got priority because I became full time caregiver because he was not at school. So please don’t judge people on who is made priority because some people don’t want to fully explain their situation and it makes people feel more shit of parent because they become desperate. I assume the DM made contact with someone because they said we can see your son is in no education and they accepted me that day. I was 15 weeks bang on. It was universal credit that told me to ask about it because they needed to get the other elements onto my claim before my next payment period. Just please be mindful of what you say.

It was made priority this morning I didn't ask she suggested this morning because I explained it's taking its toll on us and if we were to be awarded it would help us to help him financially cuz it's hard isn't it and she said I'm going to put you as priority then at 1.15 I had a decision xx

18/3
My 4 year old. Has receptive and expressive language delay on paper is aged at 18-22
months for speech and learning.
He's got an Autism assessment date 2026
He requires constant supervision as he doesn't presses instructions and doesn't have danger awareness.
This is all new to me and I'm stressing he won't be awared what he deserves
Has anyone been awarded with the same kind of delays
Thank you 😊

I applied with my 4 yr old for these reasons and also because he is visually impaired. My award letter does not mention anything about him being nearly blind it just mentions abouts his toileting and care needs through the day and night and he got awarded high rate for that, he also go high rate mobility but that was because he is almost blind. Hope that helps x

I don’t judge people who are made priority, im saying our own children are our own priority… your child isn’t priority over mine in my eyes and visa versa. I understand it’s a horrible situation but alot of people are in tough situations that’s my point

Mhow · 20/06/2024 15:02

@Kell85 and I’m not talking about anyone personally I’m mainly saying the disingenuous people

I respect that’s your opinion, we are all entitled to have our own opinions, but I will respectfully disagree with another child isn’t as much as a priority as mine. I don’t fear my child’s self harm or has really bad mental health issues, I’ve spoken to parents privately on here scared to go to bed incase their child succeeds in self harming, I would expect those children to more of a priority than my child. I honestly do hope though that your child gets the help they deserve and I do hope you don’t have to wait much longer. Again this isn’t an argument it’s just a respectful reply

Finally got through after 90 mins. Was told there was a message put out today from DM saying the 20 weeks wait isn't right. It's taking 15 to get to DM.

My scan date is 08/03. Should apparently go to a DM tomorrow

Respectfully, I think you’ve missed my point… priority cases for children needs are different I am not talking about that . I am taking financially. Alot of people ask for priority for financial reason.. NOT because of their child’s needs. If someone's child is more disabled than mine (which im
sure they’re many) I completely agree they should be priority over my child, that’s why I hadn’t claimed for my son (ADHD) for 8 years.. but when we are talking financially for me, it’s different. Alot of people struggle financially (including myself.) someone may be able to get priority due to struggles with money but who’s child may not be as β€˜bad’ as mine… anyway it’s very hard to communicate and understand eachother via typing. Anyway take care, good luck!! 🀞🏼

That's me refreshing Monzo every morning now I know it's with a DM (scan date 13/03)

Slightly related/unrelated question. I've also applied for a DLA COC for DM. She was awarded LC years ago for a whole host of medical issues but has since got Alzheimers and Vascular Dementia and isn't in a great way at all. Anyway, DWP sent DM a letter (that she hasn't seen, she's still a bit in denial and temperamental abour her dementia) saying they'd tried ringing me (definitely didn't) and then suggested DM could benefit from having an appointee.

My sister deals with all DMs medical appointments etc so she rang the number and put herself forward as appointee, girl on the phone said she's made a note of that and sent it to the decision maker. We're just wondering if there'll definitely be a F2F interview involved in the appointee situation considering we've probably sent far too much evidence, but a lot of it from the GP and the memory clinic detailing how poor DM is with handling her own affairs, losing cash, etc etc. A F2F situation is what we'd been dreading and actually put us off applying for COC just in case DM needed to be interviewed. The dementia is a very sore subject with her and life can be pretty impossible when she gets it into her head we're questioning her senility.

We're in Northern Ireland if that makes any difference. There was no mention of an interview when my sister rang to put herself forward and I'd hate to think we'll be waiting another month or more just waiting for this interview.

Sorry for the tangent but I've found these threads very reassuring and helpful and hoped someone here would have experience
