Hi everyone. Been keeping up with these threads from afar since the start of my sons claim but finally decided to post because i'm looking for some clarity.
First time claim and SD is 28th march so although early my impatience got the better of me and I thought id try calling to see if I could get an update.
Spoke to relatively kind mind who informed me that the status of the claim is still open meaning its still being looked into etc πŸ™„ fully expected this response given its only been 13 weeks tomorrow but it completely threw me when he said that claims can take upto 20 weeks and so far my sons claim has only been open 9 weeks so to keep waiting and that it could take up to 11 more (painful) weeks.
But if I've calculated it correctly we're at week 13 tomorrow, not week 9 so that sets us back a whole month!
I didn't get the chance to ask him why and im kicking myself for not asking now but does anyone have any idea why this might be?
Pissed right off because the wait is already long enough 😫
I will be ringing back but just wondered if anyone on here has ever experienced this and can shed some light as to why?
Thank you ❀

Edited

I could cry reading this my son's scan date is 28/03 too but it's for MR, his claim was first put in in October and declined so it's been a long 9 months! I'm not sure if MR has a different timescale to work with though?
When I put his claim in I was told different time scales and it ended up being a full 20 weeks.

@OneGreenBird just to let you both know my eldest sons SD was 28/03 it went to DM Monday and had a decision on Monday afternoon (I received a text) so 🀞🏼 not too much longer for you! Still waiting on youngest son SD 13.03 so god knows how the dates work!

this fills me with hope thank you! I will keep checking my bank to see if anything goes in. I really want to ring for an update but when I did that last time they told me over the phone that the claim was turned down so it's put me off calling again.

yea I bet you must feel very disheartened. If you can build yourself up I would call- it might make you feel so much better. Really hope you get the outcome you deserve! I feel sick with nerves for my youngest -it’s been with DM 6 days now- I called a good few times and now I’m just going to try and forget πŸ˜–

Abbieh1234 · 26/06/2024 22:20

I rang at 4:55 this evening and she said it’s with a dm I said defiantly because it’s now priority and I’ve been told this before and nothing and she said ring back tomorrow dinner time if you haven’t heard anything, I’m starting to think it’s a decline I didn’t really send any evidence just filled the form out the best I could at the time 😩

Hey, I’m still waiting and was made a priority first a week ago today, apparently I should have a decision by tomorrow 🀞

MrsRRam · 27/06/2024 08:33

Hey,
Came across this thread yesterday when I was having a Google of wait times. DWP received our application for our son on 1st March, after we'd requested the application form on the 22nd Jan.
I rang yesterday to get an update - but hung up when it said "if you've waited more than 20 weeks"...
Went online to check my bank balance (always good to see it looking healthy on pay day even if it's only briefly - lol)... And I've got a DLA backpayment! I guess it's backdated to the 22nd but it's not an amount for a round number of weeks so it's hard to tell. I guess they'll follow up with a letter so I'll just wait for that to come through.
Son is 11 and has an ASD diagnosis (amongst other things including dyslexia and joint hypermobility) - so I was able to send all the appointments/ letters/ outcomes etc as additional documentation without too much additional explanation of his needs/ challenges from me. Given we were first referred to Speech & Language when he was in Yr 1 (and he's now in yr 6) we had quite the collection of letters to send!
I've never had a text or phonecall or anything - just a letter back in March saying they'd got the application.
Good luck to everyone who's still waiting!

Hi.. πŸ‘‹πŸ» a bit busy with everything..proms, sports days etc.. I had an opportunity to show it to one person yesterday who have worked for authorities and he recommended me to go to RMC (refugees migration center) for an advice. He said he have never seen anything like this and said the way how they explaining it's not their responsibility but giving mobility component anyway. I should definitely do MR. That migration was closed yesterday so will go tomorrow if they can advice how to write it in right way. Local citizen advice bureau is closed so no face to face appointments available..have tried few times to call them but it's impossible..40 min ..then hour on hold.. nothing.
Thanks for asking πŸ’

Was made priority Tuesday she said to me yesterday to ring this morning as it was with the Dm xx

Christyyyy · 27/06/2024 09:05

Just called now

She said they're working weekends apparently to get through them. Apparently there's "no way" to be made a priority because "everyone's the same"

Tired of it now. 16 weeks waiting.

SD 12/03 Resisting the urge to call this morning. Thinking if I call this afternoon there's more time to hope a decision has been made. The lady I spoke to on Monday said the decision should be imminent and I'd know by the end of the week, but I'm not getting my hopes up.
Really hope there's lots of awards today 🀞
