Rang 2 weeks ago, man was quite helpful, but every time I've rang since I've been given no information at all.

That claim is for my daughter, and about to start the whole waiting time again as I have finally finished my son's form so sending that off tomorrow.

Hi all, just had a quick question. I requested a paper form in December and was meant to send this back end of January. Annoyingly, I didn't realise there was a deadline to send it back until after the date had passed.

I am yet to send off the form as have been completely consumed by the EHCP process. I am hoping to send off the DLA form this week. If awarded, will the DLA be backdated to the date the form was sent to them? Or the date they received the form?

If I want to send it by special delivery, what's the best address to use? Thanks!

Hi, i'm sure i read a post last week that someone else sent their form in late and they backdated from the scan date only, i think only certain circumstances they would take it back to the date you requested, hope this helps!

For us it was the date they scanned the forms, the payment is actually a week after that though

So they received my forms on 15/02 however the payments are from 21/02

But, it is with the DM and call handler said if no decision by Thursday he will email the DM to chase it up.

Have you received your confirmed award letter? On the phone they told me 21/2 it was awarded from then the letter came through and it said 16/2 which was my scan date, I had to change what I told them on uc.

This was me. Back dated to scan date as only reason for late forms they consider is a death in family or the named child on the case is hospitalised according the to man on the phone who told me my sons award.

do people think it’s worth ringing at all or should I give it another week or so?

looks like they’re still at end of Feb and beginning of march but seeing a big mix of dates being awarded lately. It’s so confusing

I'm wondering g if its worth calling for an update I haven't rang once I've waited it out this time. Round as they just tell ya stuff they arnt sure on themselves from past experience I dunno what to do I've got all the details in need in front of me. Just don't know nto. Ring or not

I'm same scan date as you & I rang Friday & was told not to bother them till 20 weeks were up. I can't stop wondering if the longer it takes the more likely to be refused it is & wondering about what I missed & how I could've filled out the forms differently...

@Mummyof6love I've just called and she said its still with a decision maker and could be another week. It's been with a decision maker 2 weeks tomorrow already 😩

Thanks all. Roughly how long did you have to wait for the form/documents to be scanned after posting them?

I've just called and spoke to a lovely lady who said it hadn't been looked at yet but she will put it to first. I'm not sure how much of a difference that will make wait time. Anyone else been told this?

I haven’t rang yet as seeing others posting sounds like they’re all a bit moody 🙈 I appreciate they must struggle to give answers they don’t have but a bit of kindness and respect goes a long way especially in the line of work they’ve decided to pursue.
oh since doing the forms I’ve got loads more I could’ve added and I feel rubbish for not taking my time and sitting properly with the forms but I got so emotional I felt like a rubbish mum listing everything my children couldn’t do and wondering if I could do more for them to be able to do it knowing I really wouldn’t be able to 🙃 it’s taken me and year to even apply as I just hated having to list everything all the professionals, me and the dad see wrong with the children and all the extra things we do that I just see as normal as they’re my babies but my god it’s hard working having SEN children especially in this world we live in

Some people was put to first on the Monday and had there decision made on the Thursday. Do you mean first priority? Under financial hardship?

Yeah i was told this on Thursday last week, scan date 5/3.

All I said to her was that I was at about 15 weeks now since SD and she said she would put it to first. I didn't ask or claim any financial hardship. I was fully expecting her to just say wait it out and to call back if I haven't heard by end of July.

It's not always for financial hardship when made a priority, or at least this was not the case for our claim, my son was deregistered from mainstream school because they could no longer cater for his needs, so now im full time caregiver they prioritised the claim!
