I received some upsetting news: our son has been rejected for the EHC plan at school. They declined the application, stating that the school already provides part-time Speech and Language therapy for him, and since he doesn't require medication at the moment, they're trying to avoid it for now. It seems like the council expects children to be on medication to qualify for EHC?
Our son, who is almost 6, only speaks a few words and has behavioral issues. He hits other kids, prefers to play alone, struggles with transitions, and has frequent meltdowns. The school fully agrees that he needs an EHC plan.
With this response from the council regarding EHC, I fear that DLA will also be declined.
This situation is absurd, and we will seek assistance from professionals to challenge it.

Thank you 🥰 That would be extremely cruel from them to decline it after 27 weeks of waiting and nothing to do with his special needs. I had a bunch of evidence attached to his claim from school, SEN teacher, Camhs, hospital..etc

I bit the bullet & called
We were awarded HRC yesterday!🥳
Backpay is due on Tuesday!
I'm so happy, I honestly thought we were going to get a decline as I wasn't sure we had sent enough evidence.

What information did use provide for your dla claims that have been awarded I literally have barley anything for my girl more so because girls mask a lot more then boys , she has very high traipse of ADHD and some traipse of autism school have noticed both and we are filling out the scp forms for a referal to autism assessment after the holiday but I just feel like because she isn’t violent at school that dla will probably say no ,, she is violent at home throws objects and furniture smashes things excessively climbs where she has split her head open before today and burnt herself with food coz she lacks attention and concentration massively she excessively talks and talks to strangers and will go off with them if given the chance no sense of danger or directions she requires extra support at school with reading and writing and phonics she also wears ear defenders because loud noises affect her the school have filled in the someone who knows the child part but I’m just getting a little worried that we don’t have much evidence for her she is also going to be referred to an ADHD assessment at age 6 and is still awaiting a speech and language appointment for more then words intervention it was also noted that her attention was bad in this and she did have high traipse of adhd and autism but this was 2 years ago that was done and were still waiting for another appointment I’m just getting abit worried now can I ask what evidence you sent for your girls who mask alot in school and weather use was still awarded thanks in advance x?

I sent off her diagnosis letter for her genetic condition, letters from her paeds appointments and a letter saying she's been referred to the asd team, even though she's seen the SALT team we didn't have anything on that side of things to send them

My girl is exactly the same hun but shes 4 ive send pediatricians reports, an inconclusive autism assessment, melatonin prescription support letter from her aunty who cares for her to give me a break and support letter from gp i havent been awarded tho my scan date is 14/05 unfortunately i have ages to wait. But if you have the schools support that looks really good and will work well for you xx

If "any time soon from now on" turns into another weeks with nothing, I will post my complaint in. But I really hope they will not "forse" me to do that and any time soon really mean in coming couple of days.. 🤞🏻🤞🏻🤞🏻

Sounds like you've sent more than enough to me! We had her nursery fill out the part for someone that knows your child part of the form

MR finally lodged nearly a month after we were awarded, they said it could be up to 15 weeks but hoping its sooner 🙏

So adding my update. I didnt get call back from manager yesterday so once i got home i rang the 523 way instead of 522 for MR. I first thought i got through to Kim as these 2 ladies sound so alike 😬 her name was caroline. She sounded like she was fed up off being there 😂. I asked if i could be put through to manager she asked why (rudely) i stated due to the way my daughters claim has been dealt with. She asked me what i meant....so i stated i have been given false information, she shouted 'how' so i decided to get sassy at this point.....well i was told her claim was a priority, that was a lie, i was told her claim was with a dm on friday, that was a lie. I got sent a text stating 4 weeks oh and i was told thats a lie. She then became helpful stating yeh she can see the mr hasnt been done and shes putting through now for a team leader to call me and its usually a 3 hour turn around.......we shall see. @Rachfrank I saw you said your MR is priority. Please call and check. What they done on my daughters was write on the call notes 'claim to be seen quicker' which d.ms dont see 😬.

I will need evidence for it now 🤭🥴🤣
