DLA wait time thread 42

My daughter has been awarded high rate care. Does anyone know what other schemes we can apply for ?

There are some more empathetic call handlers too. I guess I'm shutting down my emotional side when calling them as I know if I burst out, I will start to cry and they will hear more than they should about my own mental problems,.. PTSD..etc and I will turn into mess 🫣😆 But maybe they should hear how much is this waiting affecting us and how much our kids struggle and do deserve that extra support.

Ahh I see. I rang about mine the other and they said I'd be sent a letter of approval 2 weeks before renewal is up but couldn't tell me anything else and wondered if we got any high if it would go from the renewal date or from out scan date that they recieve the renewal. Will just have to wait . Thank you though xx

I really hope that it's on last stages, otherwise she wouldn't mention she could clearly see someone has look at it yesterday for decision to be made. Hopefully in less than week 🤞🏻 Any movement, update about your MR?

Mine was a few yrs bk now but only took 5ish weeks
Applied just after my oldest got awarded dla late June had first carers payment 30th July
But her dla only took 5 weeks bk then to ☹️ in 2018

Hey everyone! Just a quick question, can I apply for my daughter, she has Arfid and waiting to been assessed for autism aswell can I apply for DLA for her? Or should I wait for the assessments first ?

Oh we’ve been on the list for 3 years for an assessment now aswell

I applied for carers yesterday it said about 6 weeks

Parking - scan date of 09/02. Rang to see if they’d had recent evidence sent last week and still in holding pile apparently. Asked if could be marked financial hardship but lady said she can’t promise anything and would email manager. Might ring again next mon/tues as not sure if she will have sent it to a manager from tone of her voice

Rang up today man on the phone would not directly answer my questions (asked if my additional evidence had been received and for an update on the application) he was really useless and just kept saying your evidence was scanned in January and you'll get a letter within 20 weeks with the decision. I asked him to put me through to the customer care team and they told me my son had been awarded MRC and lrm . Scan date 22/1

Scan date some say 15/01 others 19/01 rang today evidence still not back from school said I could be waiting another few weeks by time it's back and looked at again 🥹🤯 I asked about texts they said they don't always use them that it was a trial I'm in NI thou so maybe it different will ring bk Monday hopefully it be sorted by then

It really is doesn't help that my eldest just turned 16 so I'm also stressing over trying to swap her over to pip she has adhd, social anxiety and pica so needs the money to replace the clothes she's constantly eating and the extra care for her adhd and social anxiety 😞

Family fund grant, higher disabled child element on uc or tax credits which u can be asked to backdate, possible blue badge, free disabled bus pass

My claim got refused. Now awaiting for MR and that's a extra 11 weeks on top of my 16 week waiting time

It really does sound like they are. It arrived today and been signed for. Il call tuesday make sure its scanned on system. And make sure they do that as priority aswell. I did state in later xx

Hi I just cancelled My carers allowence for my partner as wanted to change it to my daughter who recieves HRC l, I applied on the 2nd May and havnt heard anything yet, I preferred getting carers allowence as I got the weekly top up but it did come out of UC as I didn't mind though, I think last time it took about 3 weeks but it varies, regarding your carers element and disability element, you have to wait for UC to confirm it all as again its faster for some than it is for others, mine last year took 1 week for it to be sorted but I did mither them 😆 hopefully it's all sorted soon for you

I'm so disheartened to hear news like this. I'm guessing you sent evidence etc I wonder how they come up with decisions like this 😔 how old is your child if you don't mind me asking

Further to having made a complaint over the phone about my daughter's backpay being sent to some random bank account yesterday, I called up to check for updates on my complaint and spoke to a very nice gent called Gary, said he'd look to get a manager to call me. Around lunchtime a manager called Phil rang me, apologised profusely for the error and rather than having me wait 10 days for the original payment to be recalled and reissued, they'd done a Faster Payment to my bank account and sure enough it was there. Happy to now have it sorted properly.

Anyone have any idea what I can send in for proof of care needs? I sent the form off with my daughter's diagnosis report but I'm overthinking now and wondering what useless I can send? What classes as proof? Would a sleep diary help? Thanks
