If my daughter was awarded Lower Care Rate and no Mobility - do I still need to inform UC, please? Is there something I should be doing now? Thank you

No you don’t get anything extra on uc for lrc and I don’t think you can claim carers either xx

Matilde08 · 29/04/2024 10:20

@TiredTilly nothing so far ...24 weeks already. I will wait till Thursday and then will give a call to them. When had a call back from case manager last Thursday, he said if nothing back from them in coming 6 weeks, have reach out to them. Just wondering if I wouldn't call them and finally been connected with manager, it would lost into system as well as marked like unusual case..

Fee89 · 29/04/2024 10:25

@Mummyto5beautys Ah thank you for the info. I honestly didnt know that xx

I am no expert and have no experience compared to others, so this is only from what I have read online - you wont get the carers allowance or element but you it seems if your child is getting DLA you may be entitled to the Disabled child element of UC - I would just update them anyway then at least your covered.

You are allowed to feel frustrated. You are human. I was getting so angry when i saw march dates be awarded due to them being fast tracked. You feel alot of mixed emotions as you are happy other children are being awarded but angry your child hasnt been yet xx

Yeah i think its just frustration really in that its such a long wait and its a rather chaotic system, but hopefully wont be much longer! We had to fight so hard just to bring him home and really i should have done his application sooner but i just keep telling myself now that ive done it, what will be will be.

But really, so happy to see you awarded, your always so supportive of everyone and i dont think this thread would still be going if it wasnt for you 💜

Its amazing how connected to people you become 💖
Anyone wanting to stay in touch iv got facebook 'Fee Salmon' xx

You have no idea how strongly this thread have helped me and the amazing support I'm getting. I was a long term lurker while patiently waiting, then decided to join the chatting. Thanks to former 'senior' buddy @TiredTilly I have had 'kick'- encouragement to just give a call to them at least to find out the progress of my boys claim.

Thanks Sam - just checked for a reply on my Journal and you’re right, £156 a month on the Disabled Child element with the Lower Care Rate. Thank you xx

Nickij2024 · 29/04/2024 10:29

@Fee89 @Mummyto5beautys i definitely think you should do a MR for high rate. I know it’s draining but it sounds like you definitely deserve it and surely that would also mean LRM too?

Also I’m adding you on Facebook 😂 as I need you positivity in my life even after this is over. Life is so difficult for our children and for us as parents of disabled children and to have other people you can talk to is just amazing (I don’t know anyone in my day to day life in a similar position to me so it’s hard for them to understand it all) x

CONGRATULATIONS!!!!!!!!!!EVERYONE!!! SO HAPPY FOR YOU GUYS !!!

Justkeepsplashing · 29/04/2024 10:39

Thanks all, I get anxious about UC as they’re so quick to deduct things or pick some fault up! If I get so much a pound rise in wages it’s bloody lower in UC!

okay thanks again

Hi Everyone,

Currently two of my children receive DLA.

Requested application form for my 8 year old in December. Scan date 16th Jan. 15 weeks tomorrow and just had this text through.

Is there any indicator as to when I can expect a decision? Were you awarded soon after the text?

I will speak to hubby and see where we go with it. Its just so draining having to fight. I will see what letter says then will take it from there. Awww add away 🥰 xx
