Scan date 19/01
I spoke to a lovely lady who said we're at the top of a holding pile to go to a case manager so she believes it should be some time next week. She advised that it was taking 20 weeks but they've caught up a bit now so should be around 15 week mark!
Fingers crossed for everyone x

Sorry lovely- I have no info about this condition.. however they will definitely be able to tell you the decision over the phone- you can ask to be put through to someone who can tell you xx

Thank you, I did this and after answering about 20 different security questions and passed between people I found out approved for Middle Rate Care and Lower rate mobility. Relieved and so pleased - we have been getting private care treatment, which is so expensive so this will help towards that a bit.

Kee3k · 03/05/2024 11:01

Thanks everybody. I think we need a new feed just as a support group because everybody on here is amazing! And have been such a support everyday I have been on this feed scan date 17/01

No way!!! My daughter was diagnosed with FND in December 2022 and that was following a strep an infection that went to her brain she uses a wheelchair and walker and has regressed a lot. She is now 9 and was awarded initially for a year and renewal in jan this year for another 2 years as there is no cure. You should be aware and I would appeal if not xx

Insane how something as common as Strep can have such adverse reactions. I'm sorry your daughter has had to go through this - we are seeing Dr Tim Ubhi who has diagnosed PANDAS through strep antibodies still present over a year later and all of the sudden onset symptoms. He says it's commonly mis-diagnosed as FND and is treatable - worth looking him up if you are curious.

We got approved Middle Rate Care and Lower Mobility yesterday. So pleased as this will help towards the costs of treatment.

Matilde08 · 03/05/2024 11:05

@ynwa92 congrats to you as well 👏🏻 🎊💐🥳

Not sure if its the same. I have strep B. And can be passed to baby in birth canal. I had to have antibiotics during labour. Then both my youngest were a month early. Both had to go into icu and be treated with antibiotics. My son was more ill than youngest he couldnt breath on his own and his temp kept going low. After 5 days antibiotics they were both clear thankfully. The nhs dont test for it in pregnancy unless it shows on tests. But its something stupid like £18 private 🤦🏻‍♀️

So pleased for you. Glad you rang back and they were able to tell you over the phone.. the wait for a letter would have been torture I’m sure! Congratulations.

Got through this morning with no time on hold at all - used the option to say I'd been waiting over 20 weeks, our scan date is 6/3 but I need to send additional evidence so I wanted to make sure we have plenty of time to get that in as we have a few appointments in the next 2 weeks. She said you have lots of time and that its still taking up to 20 weeks but to get it in as quickly as possible as it can be looked at earlier.

I have this too! My son had difficulty with his breathing when he was born, was in scbu for a week. I was supposed to have antibiotics during labour for my daughter but she decided she was coming quicker than they could get the canula in so she had to be taken to scbu for a week for antibiotics. It's so dangerous for the little ones isn't it.

Pppppplease · 03/05/2024 11:20

Our trust now tests every mum for strep B so hopefully they roll it out nationally

Thats good. I don't think ours does yet. But it should definitely be rolled out nationally!

Well I just gave in and rang absolutely no waiting time 😱🎉. Needed to know if I had time to send in some more evidence but he said it is with a case manager. I've still sent off the extra evidence incase the case manager takes a while to go through it all (no idea the usual wait time from it going to a case manager) . Fingers crossed it won't be much longer
Scan date 22/1

😳 oh wow!

Yeah I wasn't aware of it with my son. It was only because his breathing became strained a few hours later. They first thought it was because he'd been born in the sac with the cord round his neck. Then they done more tests and told me about strep!!

Purplepinapple3 · 03/05/2024 12:36

Strange question but do the decision makers always contact school or consultants if you supplied evidence from them already?

for school I sent inclusion support report, reduced timetable, attendance records, behaviour charts, summary reports from senco and one from the staff member who works with my child as she no longer in mainstream she is in autistic resource centre.

drs reports, consultant reports with diagnosis on. Copy of medications she takes for sleep and adhd. Brain scan evaluation reports also. I can’t remember the rest I just wanted to know would they still contact these people as it will slow the dm down. It’s starting to stress me out a bit now xx
