@mumofboyngirl can I ask what additional needs your child has . My daughter is 7 asd and adhd . Don’t know if I’ve sent enough . X

Speech delay & suspected ASD & ADHD.

I only sent in my daughters health visiting report (from her 2 year review), a gp letter saying he will refer her for SALT and PAEDS, then the actual letters from SALT & PAEDS saying she is on their waiting list. I forgot to mention I also registered her on the local council SEN website to get local news regarding SEN events, so a copy of her being on that register. She was awarded HRC as she just turned 2 X

I only had reports from the school and his referral to send in.

This should be more than enough!!! Don’t sweat it too much!!! He will definitely get awarded 🤍

@Fee89 yes I did with my son who’s 17 now I still get the whole higher rate on UC plus carers element (I work full time as a TA) plus most of my rent paid !!! When I had tax credits only I didn’t even get housing benefits x

Does your rent get paid in with uc or can you have it paid direct? I dont wana say what my tax credits amount is 🤦🏻‍♀️ (i dont want to be judged like i do from family) xx

@Fee89 they pay it direct to me . My tax credits award was 275 per week I now get 1789 a month UC plus my wage on top . Not bad going I don’t think . X

Fingers crossed! I saw on Facebook today someone who applied mid march has already been awarded!

Omg, noway, they may have asked for priority, makes me nervous 😓 have I sent enough. I sent evidence last week, phoned today they still haven't received it.

@mumofboyngirl I sent her Diagnosis letter plus a 15 page document from her care coordinator detailing all her observations in school home etc. it has in about her lying in the road on the way home from school , hitting her friends chewing on things jumping down the stairs . All the things she’s did in front of the cyps care coordinators. Plus her school filled in a bit that knows her Saying she needs more support and is very dangerous etc . God knows if it’s enough x

@Fee89 they can’t pay you any less mind it’s always more . X

KLA1993 · 02/05/2024 21:06

Jempeech · 02/05/2024 20:48

@Fee89 mind I changed to UC last month and I get 400 more a month than I did on tax credits.

Same here when I changed to UC I got almost £400 more, couldn't believe it, seems scary getting it monthly but your better off, you can also request to split payments for every two weeks on UC x

Jempeech · 02/05/2024 21:08

@KLA1993 I get my wage one week UC the next then my sons PIP the week after so really I only have one week a month with no income but I just make sure all is paid etc by that point x

Fee89 · 02/05/2024 21:09

@Jempeech @KLA1993 How long do they give you once you get the letter? Xx

@Jempeech @KLA1993 How long do they give you once you get the letter? Xx

Honestly I cannot remember, I changed over a year ago when my eldest was awarded high rate care from dla, when I worked it all out from not getting tax credits I gained around £380 difference not including disability element, so I think changing to UC is 100% worth it x

KLA1993 · 02/05/2024 21:20

@Fee89 Plus when you apply for UC you get a instant payment for the first month so you will not lose any money or be out of pocket, you shouldn't worry about benefits and what people think, we are entitled to what we are entitled to xx

3 months, my deadline is 27th July to move over

You shouldn't worry, it's quite instant with UC, you may come out better off and if you need to you can ask to split your payments into fortnightly x

Emzi538 · 02/05/2024 21:24

Uc is much easier than tax credits in my opinion, I changed over myself as worked out would be better off... I get them to pay my rent element direct to landlord ... I did tho squirrel money away before hand as the advance back then was only over a year to pay back...

Defiantly, my rent goes straight to my landlord, it's so much easier, wish I did it sooner to be honest

Mommy2boys30 · 02/05/2024 21:26

Thank ladies for your help with the move to UC, I will be better when I know my son has been awarded for DLA, hoping by the end of this month I will have that, but who knows when it comes to these lot lol

@Fee89 Just to let you know, it's not an advance payment, it's classed as your first payment, I didn't have to pay it back when I applied for UC, it's to cover the first month you have to wait for your first payment which is about 5 weeks after you claim x

Mumofthecrazygang86 · 02/05/2024 21:41

You can ask for uc to pay rent direct to landlord. You can also request more regular payments. 2 or 4 payments a month if it will be better for you. That's what I have done
