DLA Wait Time Chat

They are def not taking 24 weeks 🤔. Unless they need more evidence or applying for NI number 🤦🏻‍♀️

It's frustrating that more and more who have called exactly today have been left without any update or even clue when to expect any decision. Someone been told that claims can now take up to 20 weeks.. even 24 weeks.. what's the point then to call them for an update at all.

I sympathise with shopping... as fast as it's here it's gone!
I have 4 children at home now... and me...
My girls (15 &3) are non sen and eat most things... my two sons both sen (12&8) have lots of food issues the elder can onky have natural sugars and the younger will not eat fresh fruit and only some potato products and sweetcorn 😐neither like sloppy textures and elder won't eat pasta... so although they have free school meals I have to send packed lunches it's a huge battle and dinners are repetitive! My average weekly shop is a min of 200!

My letter had NI on, hence why I’m now sending evidence ☺️

Does anyone know how DM usually contact school? And do they always contact school? Honestly our school are absolutely rubbish and I’m starting to worry that they’re going to hold our claim up.
I chased school today regarding my sons autism referral and when Senco got back to me she said it was finally sent on Monday, Senco said she was waiting 5 weeks for my sons teacher to fill her part in. Which I think is ridiculous. And now my son is involved with the school nurse regarding toileting issues and fluid intake, she sent my sons teacher a letter prior to Easter and his teacher hasn’t replied, so the nurse emailed me today saying she was going to ring school, she rang the main office number and they said oh you’re best emailing Mrs…. because she’ll pick that up easier than a phone call. Yet I asked my sons teacher if I could have her email address for the DLA form and she said no the email addresses are private and to just put down the main office phone number and they can ring them. But with how rubbish our school is I’m now worrying what if they ring the office for further information and they don’t answer, or can’t put them through to the teacher straight away etc. then what? A further wait? Or could the DM potentially send a letter to my son’s school addressed to his teacher? school are already terrible at time keeping and replying. Sorry for the long moany post there just fed up of everything having to be an argument with any service we encounter at the moment 10 weeks in now and wishing the next potentially 10 away

I don’t know if to bother with sending evidence at this stage?… surely they will contact agencies themselves if listed on the form? I mean, I’ve waited 3 months already and a lot has happened in that time.

Something tells me dwp wont do that though. They will only look at the claim based on what is written in the form only and I feel confident that should be enough 🤞

@MrsRawl Teachers school email addresses are not private. If you go to main office and ask reception for it they will give you it. Dla usually write to the school and i think (could be wrong) they have 21 days to reply. Sounds like school need kick up the ass. Sorry you are struggling with them 😔.

@Loubyloufootball I think it depends on the d.m you get and if they feel a need to contact anyone else. In my opinion id keep the new evidence incase you need to do an mr. Atleast then you know you can fight the mr if needed better but also if its not needed then its not gain no loss if that makes sense

Oh really? She said the email addresses are for teachers only to contact each other on and outside services, not for parents to have and hand out? I have the email address for the main office so I may email them and say DLA need it and see if they’ll give it me. Might speed things up a little 😂 ( doubt it )

Unless my kids primary and high school are different but we have email addresses for every single member off staff. Infact some are even on the schools websites 😂. I got my daughters senco email address off the school website. Every time they find out their new teachers we get a slip with their teachers email address on it. Only thing we dont get is the extension numbers direct to the classrooms x

@MrsRawl I used to work 13 hour shifts 7.30am to 8.30pm (3days one week 4 the next) so wouldnt be at drop off/pick ups. And in my job i couldnt call, so if i had concerns or wanted up dates id email. How does your childs school expect other parents to communicate with them 🤔

I'm so worried they'll call our school but I have said in my forms that he masks so hopefully they don't.
Senco always made me feel like I was just lying about everything!!

Aw really, thats good, wish our school did that, our school doesn’t give any of that out. We have to communicate with them through dojo, and they never ever reply and most of them have a message that says sorry I’m currently away at the minute so may not reply and then they never do 😂 I’ve got a meeting at school on Monday with his teacher, his TA, Senco, SALT and the school nurse 😂 so I’ll ask again then, the decision was made to get everyone in one room at the same time because the communication is ridiculous, forever waiting weeks for a reply about anything x

Aw I remember speaking to you a few threads back. Our school sounds similar, and the senco rolled her eyes several times at me until I showed her video recordings from home. Shouldn’t be such a battle should it? I also said on my form that he masks at school but he does have other ongoing issues at school, just worried they won’t support me fully. Keeping everything crossed for everyone 😩

I haven’t called since I requested the form. I used to work in a call centre for a bank and I remember some of the other handlers were absolute a**holes to the customers. It was around the time of the credit crunch and so many people were struggling badly, I am maybe too empathetic and found it so hard… a few of my coworkers seemed to love having the power to upset someone going through a rough time! Honestly, I hated it there.
I can imagine they have a script of what to say roughly and if they don’t want to help they can get away with parroting the same thing or looking for excuses to say nothing. I wouldn’t be surprised if some don’t even bother searching for the case notes, looks like some even work from home… Kim may be sitting there in her pjs taking calls between wash loads and cups of tea as far as we know 🤭

Hiya I rang on Monday wasn't even with the decision maker then rang on weds and she's been awarded on Tuesday apparently (middle rate care) I sent through extra evidence EHCP application that was delivered on the 9th and it still hasn't been scanned on. She said when it does get scanned on they will look and see if it makes a difference and let me know but how long am I supposed to wait for it to be scanned on they wouldn't give me a time scale.

Scan date was 28/12

@MrsRawl I’m so sorry your school is letting you down like that . I work in education myself . And I see it from some other staff members time and time again . They do get time to do these things in the school day as they are stretched with a lot but not that stretched ! It makes me sad . My advice is to mention governors … say you don’t feel supported in the process . Both my kids are SEN and this is why I’ve chosen to work with the amazing kids I do . So they have someone who gives a shit fighting for them everyday ! Does he have a TA ? They could also provide evidence! Good luck !

I'm calling 16 weeks today I called Wednesday and was with dm so hopefully some news I have requested a text but never get them last letter i got was 15th Feb
