I hadn’t thought of it like this but it makes a lot of sense.
I’m assuming they are more likely to contact the school for children who do not yet have a diagnosis (suspected ADHD/AUTISM) and therefore have limited evidence to support what is said in the form.
However those with an official diagnosis/report etc maybe that is enough to not need the schools input as surely a qualified medical professionals opinion has more clout than a teachers anyway?
I’m praying this is the case as my daughter is diagnosed with autism. I’ve sent her full autism assessment report along with a copy of the recommendations made to the school as part of her report.
She masks massively at school though so all they have in place for her are sessions to improve social skills once a week, a 121 ‘tea (squash 😂) and talk’ with her teacher once per week. She gets to have a copy of her class timetable in advance and is also in charge of the visual classroom timetable each day as it helps with her struggles with change and OCD routines/behaviours.
Her report does clearly state she’s masks at school though and is unlikely to ask for support when she reaches the point or overwhelm. If I’m refused based on masking at school I’m just going to put in a MR and bombard them with as much information I can find around masking and autism in girls particularly 😂. Essentially just stamp my feet until I get what I know she deserves haha x
