Sorry not really wait time related as my wait is finally over but I just thought how strange the whole process is. My middle child gets MRC and LRM , he has a diagnosis and needs more help than my other child who recently just got awarded HRC and LRM… I’m not complaining and filled both forms out with accurate info, my other child on HRC doesn’t even have an official diagnosis ! Just think it’s so strange and must be subjective as to who reads your form!!?

Hrc is for night care (11pm-7am) so does both children need that or did you put that on the form about it to receive it

Scan date 14/12
rang today at 4.30 to be told my boy got awarded mrc was expecting a decline as he was only 19 month when applied with only health visitor and portage worker support letter but they awarded him today 16 weeks exact 🤞 the rest of use waiting with similar dates get awarded soon

Fee89 · 04/04/2024 19:02

@Taffylass72 could you get written statements from friends/family or other children if they are old enough? X

The higher needs thing I’m not sure gets you awarded fast where there aren’t special circumstances. With my older one we got HRC, LRM, lots and lots of reports, but still took well over 3 months and I think almost 4 months.

Unfortunately I don’t think it would help in our case, behavioural issues have been outlined by her oncologist in her letter confirming cancer diagnoses and the date she started receiving chemotherapy, alongside all of the other symptoms and side effects which some will affect her for the rest of her life, and this I why I’m finding it difficult to know what more they need from me 🤷🏻‍♀️ x

It’s a horrible thing to have to worry about whilst we are in the midst of treatment etc but we are lucky we have a lot of family to help support us financially as best as they can right now with the constant hospital stays x

Fee89 · 04/04/2024 19:15

@Taffylass72 our last hospital stay was 3 nights, i swear the shorter they are the more money you rinse through x

Just like you dont know any of our children's illness. You have taken spite from that person's comment made to you and appled it on others which is 'ill minded'. I'm sorry someone was rude to you but be assured everyone else on here will 100% be happy that your child got what they deserve. Im sure other's may of even asked you for help in what sort of evidence you sent etc. Not everyone is like that one comment.

yes, once again, as I said, MANAGEMENT gave me that piece of info. I didn’t pull it out of thin air?! So please do not try to attack me, from when I was just repeating what I was told?! I don’t make the rules; and if they are stating things such as that, maybe you should take it up with them? I’m only repeating what I was told, because the system is very flawed and this was the answer I was given AFTER I questioned them why are others still waiting, it’s not fair on them, etc. so please, apologise if I come across inconsiderate, but I won’t be made to feel like crap for relaying a piece of information which I was told by DLA Management.

@1slamkh i havnt attacked you. Actually if you look back YOU are the one attacking others. Lol pathetic.

Taffylass72 · 04/04/2024 19:24

@Fee89 the longest we have stayed is 3 weeks and it’s impossible to live there for that long, fortunately they do have a charity that provide a kitchen etc to cook for ourselves etc but still doesn’t make it any less expensive being away from home, praying we all here soon! That goes for me and my DD and also everyone else who’s still waiting to hear too 🤞🏻x

katiewil · 04/04/2024 19:26

@1slamkh I disagree..
The people on this thread have been nothing but supportive to each other.. this is the probably the nicest thread I have been on or seen
I was also told it was with DM around a week after I sent form in but I have been told different things by different people
There are other parents on here whose children are seriously ill and they have been waiting since November for their decision, so I wouldn't blame them if they felt frustrated that others in feb were getting awarded..

Anyway I don't want to bring negativity to a positive thread.. I just wanted to agree with what others have said that it is a supportive place where we all feel free to moan about how crazy the system is!

katiewil · 04/04/2024 19:29

Anyway.. congratulations on all awards today!
I will no doubt be lurking on here tomorrow waiting to see if my dates are being awarded 🤣

I totally understand that. My first question was to DLA is why is the system so flawed, why people being awarded before others who have been waiting so long; and their response was ‘some kids are more ill than others’. This does not mean I share the same belief, I’m just stating what I was told as to why things are the way they are, but I definitely do not agree with it. However some people have misinterpreted my comment and are making remarks such as me being ill minded? In what sense? I’m literally just repeating info, but it doesn’t mean I agree with it. And their frustration should be taken up with DLA. Not me. Shooting the messenger when I thought this forum was meant to be free, so people can share info… anyway, thank you for your comment. I genuinely hope you get awarded soon! X
