Hi can anyone help. Is the renewal form a shorter form than the first claim form? Also if I post renewal form back today will dla get backdated whether it goes up or down from when they receive it or whatever the new decision is will it start from when it's due to end on 30th May 2025.? Been told different things

Hi.. just place marking in the thread as I've sent my renewal back today, 21/11/24 for my son.

Claim isn't ending until March 25 I think the letter said so done it pretty much within 2 weeks of getting the renewal pack through.

Only thing I'm wondering is it yearly you have to renew? I've seen lots of people saying they've done a renewal and then its last for a number of years? I'll do it either way when they ask, just wondering really!

When you hear back from them could you update please. Wanted to know it the new decision takes affect from the scan date or from when it ends in March? Been told different things.

Just wanted to update incase anyone is in similar situation...

I sent my renewal 21st Nov 24, I called today to see if I could get an update as claim ends 7/3/25.

Told a decision was made yesterday and to wait for the letter which will be 7-10 days. I asked for decision over the phone but she couldn't tell me.

Had my letter back today and DLA has been cancelled!

I don't understand how he can go from being HRC and LRM to cancelled all together.

I sent so much evidence and really detailed answers.

I will be doing a MR, anyone got any advise? What do I need to do / include?

Thanks

Mummaof4neurodivergent2non · 13/02/2025 13:23

Hiya was yours due for renewal ? Was it sent in time if it was or was this before the award was due for renewal
Definitely do a MR they prob didn't read the evidence :(

cooperbug · 13/02/2025 14:21

@riverislandjeans our renewal was rejected too despite sending multiple pieces of evidence. We have applied for MR but have been advised 20 week wait.

Senmummy1234 · 13/02/2025 19:25

I’m so worried seeing all these posts about people being rejected after receiving dla for so long. How does this even happen? When I first applied my sin only had a diagnosis of adhd. We now have a dialog Autism and going through tics and speech and language. We also was accepted for a blue badge which I have since got since last claim. I have his updates Sen plan, his ADOs assessment . His paper work for the speech and language which the Sen filled in. I’m just awaiting for the detailed letter from his paediatrician with the autism diagnosis and I’m going to send that in as more evidence. I have already sent back my renewal forms but forgot to put other bits in. It’s scary and makes me think is mine going to be rejected 😵‍💫😵‍💫😵‍💫😵‍💫. Good luck to everyone x

Missdllm92 · 14/02/2025 12:50

Nc 06/01/2025 they sent the letter to confirm 7/2/2025 with another letter saying to send birth certificate as I forgot to send it in 😅 the letter says 15weeks think they need to change that if it's 20+ weeks

Janieanne · 17/02/2025 08:59

Hi lv i am the same I received a message Thursday saying they had made a decision and a letter has been sent out. I dont think they awarded it only going on the fact that money i was owed went straight into the bank. He is only 3 tho and they normally wait till around 5 years of age. I will come back on and update when I receive the letter.

riverislandjeans · 17/02/2025 13:59

I've done a letter for MR and will be sending off tomorrow.

I've used a lot of their reasons and answered why they are incorrect and given reasons / examples or referred to evidence I sent in with the renewal.

Not holding my breath, but will see what happens.

DLA was due to end start of March so in theory last payment should be next week.

Will I still get this or because it's been cancelled is it cancelled from now or from when it was due to expire still?

Mamabear300 · 17/02/2025 14:54

Hi ladies after sending my daughters dla claim pack off within a week of it arriving and it arriving with them 2nd of may 2024 it got rejected. I then went to MR and after 41 weeks and 4 days exactly, I got a phone call to let me know that dla has been awarded to my daughter as of today and that payment will be sent today. I actually couldn't believe it it was a long wait but it's done for now! Good luck to all of you x

Could you let us know what happens when you get an update. Did the payments continue until the end date?

Hoori291 · 13/01/2026 20:33

what evidence I need for that and how can I get the evidence? Who will give me .. please guide me

Squishmallow01 · 20/01/2026 11:23

I’ve just got my tribunal date for DS where I am contesting his mobility…..does anyone have any advice on how best to get my point across? I feel really nervous!!!!

BrightYellowTrain · 20/01/2026 14:23

@Hoori291 with autism, there are 2 potential ways of being eligible for HRM. One is severe mental impairment, but you need HRC for that. The other is virtually unable to walk. You can see the flowcharts for both You can see the SMI and VUW criteria flowcharts in this document. To be eligible you need to prove every step. Reference your evidence to support this.

What evidence you can use depends on the child. A lot use EHCPs and other information from schools (such as risk assessments, safety plans, etc.) and HCPs (e.g paeds, OT, specialist nurses, CAMHS…)

It will also help you to look at Contact’s website and their leaflet.

@Squishmallow01 I find the best way is to work your way through the eligibility criteria (whichever one you are looking at pursuing a claim under), explaining why DC meets that part of the test and referencing your evidence to support your point.

Squishmallow01 · 10/02/2026 20:03

The evidence I have submitted is his EHCP, risk assessment from school, proof of reduced timetable, his blue badge, and the council panel letter informing me they have agreed a specialist school placement needs to be sought.
is this enough evidence that he is eligible for high rate mobility under the grounds of extreme social functioning/SMI?
I’m feeling so nervous about the tribunal and just want to make sure I’m not going to look silly and have enough evidence
thanks xx

BrightYellowTrain · 11/02/2026 14:19

@Squishmallow01 no-one can say whether the evidence is enough just from reading a list the evidence sent. You need to look at what the evidence says and if it meets every step of the flowchart. Some can have an EHCP needing SS, risk assessment, reduced timetable and blue badge and not be eligible for HRM under SMI.

Hoori291 · 18/02/2026 21:49

My daughter has severe eczema and anaphylaxis. Severe allergies.. she got MRC only .. I’m not happy with the decision.. I want to do MR . Any suggestions how can I get HRC FOR HER …

BrightYellowTrain · 19/02/2026 19:02

@Hoori291 MRC is for frequent help &/or constant supervision during the day, prolonged &/or repeated help during the night, prolonged or frequent supervision at night, or need someone to help when on dialysis. HRCis for help or supervision both day and night - you have to satisfy one of the day criteria and one of the night criteria I mentioned in my previous sentence or have a claim under the special rules.

For night needs that means you either need to show DD requires prolonged (typically considered 20mins+) or repeated (typically means 2+) support with bodily functions during the night or someone needs to be awake for a prolonged period or at frequent intervals (typically considered more than twice) to watch over her to prevent harm. Nighttime is typically considered from when the house shuts down for the night. This is normally considered to be from 11pm-7am, but can be different in some circumstances.

Do you have evidence to support night needs?

Hoori291 · 19/02/2026 19:19

I’m going to make a dairy for that.. what type of evidence do I need to support night needs?

What type of evidence do I need for night support?

BrightYellowTrain · 19/02/2026 19:25

@Hoori291 that depends on the individual circumstances. For example, some with severe eczema and anaphylaxis who need care during the night might have evidence from a specialist nurse and/or consultant. Some might have evidence from a HV (obviously depending on age).
