What happens with renewals, do they send you a reminder to reapply or not? And if they take forever to process it, do they continue to pay you or not while they decide whether you still meet criteria?

Yes. They send you renewal paperwork in good time before the current payment expires. Send it back as soon as possible as it takes around the same amount of time (now estimated 20 weeks). And no, they won't pay you if your current payments stop before your renewal has been processed. However, when processed and if granted, they will pay from the SD date. It only use to take max 8 weeks in the past so wasn't a big issue. 20-25 weeks for processing is just crazy!

Anyone with Scan dates 8th/9th July, I've just phoned DLA and they've said they should have a decision by 26th November, this was for both a new claim and a COC, just wanted to let anyone know who may be around a similar time 😊

Did you finally receive a notification on the 26th?

Squishmallow01 · 07/12/2024 06:07

@PrettyWell Thanks for the update, is this a new claim or a mandatory reconsideration? It’s been 17 weeks since I sent my sons mandatory reconsideration and not heard anything still

Hi everyone, I had a phone call last Wednesday the 12th Dec 2024 to ask me a few questions I’d missed off the form.
I rang today the 17th to check on progress & the man on the phone told me a letter had been sent with a decision & I would hear within the next 12 days…we obviously had a weekend in between but no payment as yet. He said he couldn’t give me any more information over the phone. I’m stressed out with it all…been waiting almost 19 weeks now. Feel worried & sick. Any advice appreciated X

Emat19833 · 16/12/2024 21:49

Phone tell them descion been made and you want to talk to someone who can help with that they will put you through and they will discuss in detail.
I got my descion last Tuesday payment sent last wedensday payment will be in bank tomorrow 17th.

Leah3939 · 16/12/2024 22:40

Thank you so much I will do that. It just seems some people get told & others don’t. I’m fearing the worst because he wouldn’t tell me over the phone 🤦‍♀️ X

They usually do not discuss decisions over the phone. They used to in the past but don't anymore. I would leave at least a week between the decision and payment. But call them in the means as advised above. Best of luck x

Leah3939 · 17/12/2024 05:04

Hi Ladies, thank you for the reassurance. This morning payment has gone in. I could cry with relief. It looks like MRC & LRM but I’ll have to wait for the letter. This means so much to us. Could anyone advise on letting UC know. Do I need to know the rates before I let them know. Thank you so much this place has been a place of
source comfort these last few months. I hope you all get the outcomes you’re looking for X

Sskanf · 31/12/2024 11:26

Hi ladies, my child was up for a renewal he's turning 5 in a few months he has been awarded HRC and LRM. I currently receive carers element from previously being on MRC, do I need to inform them about the change and will there be an increase in the carers element. Many thanks in advance

Do a COC on UC saying from when your son started receiving HRC so your element amount goes higher and to get it back dated if you have started to get paid it. If he's not on HRC just yet then wait till the day it starts to kick in then do a COC and put a note on your journal

Sskanf · 31/12/2024 14:53

Thank you so much for your reply @Mommy2boys30 it renews in Feb so I will add the COC then

Squishmallow01 · 31/12/2024 15:13

I’m so confused if I’m entitled to universal credit or not? I had to leave my job to facilitate my son being on a part time timetable at school and no family to help with childcare. However I own a home with his dad who does work. Am I entitled or not? Or would I only be entitled if I wasn’t with his dad?

Sskanf · 31/12/2024 15:16

@Squishmallow01 so it depends on your partners income whether you are entitled or not you can give universal credit a call to check this. Also if your child's on DLA u are entitled to carers allowance and disability element

How did you get a decision on your renewal before your child turns 5? From what I'm reading they leave it until the last minute

Sskanf · 31/12/2024 18:24

@sara098 so I applied when the forms were sent out to me I pretty much filled them within 2 weeks, sent back 1st week of November. Then I called today to see if I can some additional information and was told a decisions already made on Christmas eve, the advisor was refusing to tell me award then agreed to put me thru to another department and was told rates

Bluecat11 · 02/01/2025 00:05

I’m confused I applied in October so it’s been like 3 month already I got a letter just before Xmas saying nothing been done yet to wait a further 15 weeks is that right ?
