I'm currently doing a renewal for my 4 year old turning 5 in a few months. I was previously on middle rate no mobility. He is non verbal still on a buggy due to no sense of danger n constant melt downs. He will run into the road out of impulsiveness when having a tantrum. If he sees a dog or cat even a pigeon he will start chasing it down the road so I have to keep him in a pushchair to keep him safe. He needs to be watched day n night. He is still in nappies, unable to self feed as he won't touch food n wen attempting to He will scream gag n be sick. The school have him on a reduced timetable and he comes home at lunchtime as they can't help hik eat. He is currently on an ehcp but unable to follow the curriculum and kept in a separate classroom due to this. He suddenly wakes from night terrors at 2am crying hysterically and won't settle upto 4 hours even. He has full-time support at school however, they keep leaving after a weeks due to finding his needs quite demanding which does sadden me. What are the chances for low rate mobility. I really want to support him getting some therapy. He's mental.age has been assessed as a 12 month old although he's going to be 5

By the sound of it, you have great chances of getting the LR mobility element as well. Get school and probably the GP to write you some good supporting reports. The SENCO as well did mine and it was alright

If he is awake every night you should be entitled to HRC they class night 11pm-7am so for prolonged periods of time during that and you have that from a professional then you will be entitled to that and definitely LRM if not maybe more to HRM but it depends how much evidence and explaining you can do and depends who's desk it lands on

Mommy2boys30 · 01/11/2024 07:26

I had a COC in place scan date 7/06 and won HRM for my 3 year honestly so relieved it's all done for a few years now so he gets HRC and HRM

Squishmallow01 · 02/11/2024 19:50

Just to say I’m waiting on a mandatory reconsideration and was told it’s up to 25 weeks for this. I’m only on week 12 so got a bloody long wait I think.

Sara098 · 03/11/2024 07:09

I'm in a similar situation. SD 22/7 and was told they have until 9/12 to make a decision. Wait until week 18 and give them a nudge.

Eadele90 · 06/11/2024 10:24

Twinmummyanda9yearold · 06/11/2024 10:41

Anyone with Scan dates 8th/9th July, I've just phoned DLA and they've said they should have a decision by 26th November, this was for both a new claim and a COC, just wanted to let anyone know who may be around a similar time 😊

Twinmummyanda9yearold · 20/11/2024 11:13

Hi, has anyone heard from 8th July scan date please? Debating whether to call or not 🤭

riverislandjeans · 21/11/2024 13:09

Hi.. just place marking in the thread as I've sent my renewal back today, 21/11/24 for my son.

Claim isn't ending until March 25 I think the letter said so done it pretty much within 2 weeks of getting the renewal pack through.

Only thing I'm wondering is it yearly you have to renew? I've seen lots of people saying they've done a renewal and then its last for a number of years? I'll do it either way when they ask, just wondering really!

My understanding is that it pretty much depends on the child's condition and age. If they believe the disability could improve for whatever reason, then they might send frequent renewal notifications. But for severe lifelong disabilities, renewals will be spaced out.

Squishmallow01 · 21/11/2024 20:39

What happens with renewals, do they send you a reminder to reapply or not? And if they take forever to process it, do they continue to pay you or not while they decide whether you still meet criteria?

Emat19833 · 21/11/2024 20:49
