My scan date is 9th February I got a letter 3wks saying sorry it’s taking so long for a decision… it’s bee. With a decision maker for over a month now surely it doesn’t take this long for a decusion 😳

DamitJamit · 17/04/2024 13:33

I phoned on Monday and asked for a letter with statement of reason and was told they would have to email dm as nothing on system. Any idea how long it will take to receive this as I know theres a time limit

Do you always receive confirmation they have received the forms back? And when do you know your scan date ? Thank you

I got a letter today acknowledging they received my forms and requesting birth certificate I sent them off 18/03

Oh no! Does every claim need birth certificate? If it does I shall probably receive the same letter as I didn’t know about that. I sent my sons form back recorded signed for so I have royal mails photo and it’s been signed for but don’t know if they contact to say it’s received. Fingers crossed we all get our children the help they deserve 😊

Emssxo · 17/04/2024 23:34

I posted my dla signed for and they received it on 5/04/2024. Upon reading online I am already prepared for a long wait but just wondering what I do now? Do I get confirmation from them? I’m very desperate for the DLA for my child. Not even for just the money for other problems i don’t wish to post online. Is it really taking Aslong as it sounds it is?

Jess19944 · 18/04/2024 06:11

@Emssxo yeah it’s probs around 16-18 weeks but I think every situation differs. My forms was scanned February and I’ve was told June and now I’ve been told July, not a quick process unfortunately

Emssxo · 18/04/2024 07:35

@Jess19944 Thankyou for your response. Yes I figured it would be a long wait absolutely ridiculous. I hope yours get sorted. I’m so worried I didn’t send enough evidence. Was really hoping it would be quicker than this. Why do they say 8 weeks if it’s longer than that! Urgh frustration

No - not everyone gets asked to send the birth cert. We weren't.

Jess19944 · 18/04/2024 07:41

@Emssxo I’ve been worrying about the evidence too. I received a letter dated 4th April to say sorry it’s taking so long but they are still looking into my claim so hopefully it won’t be much longer. Some people’s have been sooner but others have been longer, it’s crazy how much it differs.

Chattaway88 · 18/04/2024 08:35

They usually don't need the birth certificate but if they really need they will send you a letter like the did with us.

SamBusyMam · 18/04/2024 18:10

Has anyone been waiting for a change of circumstances decision?

Mumof4eami · 18/04/2024 20:30

Hi I rang dla regarding where my sons application is upto she said its with decision maker but should hear something by end of week and money owed usually takes 3 to 5 working days and get a letter 7 to 10 days later am not quite sure why she would say this if its still with the decision maker they received my claim form 13th January

Emssxo · 18/04/2024 23:34

If I haven’t received confirmation they got my form after 2 weeks should I chase them down to confirm? I only know it’s there because of Royal Mail but I am very aware this is all going to take a while.

Ciara86 · 19/04/2024 07:17

@SamBusyMam yes I am currently waiting on COC forms logged 2/1/24

This is what I’m wondering too. I sent my sons on 12/04 special delivery, the Royal Mail sent me a picture of a stack of letters and signed for by dean… no chance you can tell my letter is in that pile🙄 do you know if the scan date is the day they received the letter back or the day the confirm they have it?

MumsNel5 · 19/04/2024 09:20

My scan date is 9th Feb I rang up yesterday and the guy said it’s still with the decision maker but I will hear back 28th June

Dsav · 19/04/2024 18:34

Hello,
I called to claim dla for my son on the 20th November 2023.

I sent off the forms and all the evidence I could gather and heard nothing back.
i called in feb worried and they told me the forms were scanned into the system on the 2nd jan.

I was told approximately 15/20weeks and were reaching that end point now.

However I still haven’t heard a thing. Very worried i may have done something wrong as I’ve no idea what I’m doing.

do I call them or do I just wait. So far I’ve had zero correspondence from dla and it’s become very worrying.

any advice would be greatly appreciate

Ciara86 · 19/04/2024 22:14

@Dsav ours is scanned the 2nd November too I rang up today as I had more evidence and they said it hasn’t been assigned to a decision maker yet but will be complete within 2 weeks

I rang them on 21st November and received a letter on the 2nd january stating that received my forms on the 19th december. From the day i rang them i had been waitinf 19 weeks. I had a text message last Friday stating my child had been awarded.

My advice would be to leave it till towards the end of next week before contacting them again.

Also when you rang them did you opt in to receive a text if your child qualifies?

Unfortunately it is a case of being patient and waiting.

Jess19944 · 22/04/2024 11:04

Has anybody had a recent award? Just wondering what your scan date was and your award date was. I know every situation is different just wanting an estimate
