Oh that’s the worst liv, you’ll no doubt do everything in a timed precise manner in a morning so that’s the last thing you need! I have to phone camhs a week today to give them an update and he has another clinic appointment in 4 weeks x

I’ll be back later to read everyone’s last posts, sorry not had chance x

openupmyeagereyes · 13/09/2021 19:10

Christ on a bike, ds has been a royal pain in the backside most of the day. Counting down the time until he’s asleep.

livpotter · 13/09/2021 19:34

Sorry to hear that open. Do you think anything in particular has prompted the behaviour?

openupmyeagereyes · 13/09/2021 19:50

The return to school.

It started Thursday afternoon and then he refused to go in on Friday. He went in for PE this afternoon so that’s something. He’s been awake since 3:30 and still resisting going to sleep.

danni I’m sorry the meds aren’t working (hopefully a larger dose will) and that the CAMHS report was hard reading. Just remember that even with all this going on your ds will develop and change, he will learn better coping skills. He’s a bright boy, you know that Flowers

liv glad you got ds onto the bus without a meltdown. I hope things settle down.

Open I’m sorry ds has been difficult, is he asleep yet?

Ds is sat looking out of the living room window with his binoculars my dad bought him asking all sorts of questions about the star he can see, he’s not looking sleepy whatsoever lol.

He’s in a pleasant mood so I’m leaving him be for a bit.

openupmyeagereyes · 13/09/2021 20:26

He is asleep thank god!

danni that is adorable - time aside. You see, bright!

danni0509 · 13/09/2021 21:34

I’m pleased he is asleep x

Ds went to sleep at 9pm.

I’ve been on the cahms website / young minds website and as I was looking through I see this page about school refusal (you may have read it already)

Quite a bit of info on there.

danni0509 · 13/09/2021 21:40

Open, I think actually from what I’ve just skimmed on there, your basically doing all it suggests anyway Flowers

dimples76 · 13/09/2021 22:26

Sorry to read of all the school transport/getting into school/sleep probs.

Danni what a Ietter! I struggle to see how they can comment on cognitive issues when he is dysregulated. I'm glad that he's enjoying looking at the stars even though he should be sleeping!

DS hit DD twice this evening but seemed puzzled why I wasn't best pleased with him.

openupmyeagereyes · 14/09/2021 09:39

Social story dimples? I'm sure you're probably doing/have done that already. I hope dd is ok.

Ds has gone in to school this morning! He is supposed to be there until 11 but they will keep a look out for any signs of anxiety, since we want to keep it a positive experience.

Great fun here. Kids been back 4 days at school and 12 out of 29 kids in DDs class Covid positive. Including her. So she is off as is DS (silver linings and all that…).

I’ve a terrible headache but so far negetive. Think it’s stress!

openupmyeagereyes · 14/09/2021 11:51

Oh no carrie! I hope nobody else gets it and dd is ok.

carriebradshawwithlessshoes · 14/09/2021 12:07

Thanks Open. She’s ok so far, even said ‘oooo I wonder if I might see my friends at the pcr test centre??! ‘ Never one to pass up a social opportunity my DD… 🙄

dimples76 · 14/09/2021 17:45

Like your DD's response Carrie
Good news re school Open
I had call from nursery today to collect DD, suspected chicken pox. DS hasn't had chicken pox yet either. Timing could be better as I'm due to return to teaching on campus a week on Monday.

openupmyeagereyes · 14/09/2021 21:14

Oh no dimples, rotten timing.

Ds has been a different child today. So much calmer and settled. A relief after yesterday.

Hi all! I would also vote for pull ups. If you've tried everything a change that makes your life easier and doesn't make his worse (and who knows, maybe it could even help?) seems sensible.

DD is now in her second week of her new school, and seems to be going well so far. Although we had a complete meltdown over uncomfy trainers this week (I suspect she was tired from the change of school and some other big social stuff that unfortunately coincided). She did manage to go in and said they were comfy in the end, but I now have about 14 pairs of trainers arriving from various places as they've always been a bit problematic and I just can't deal with that again (and would prefer DD not to have to!)

Having said that none of them have arrived yet, I bought some in Next that were too big (they didn't have the half size), and DD has PE again tomorrow... so we may be in for the same again tomorrow morning (they go into school in their PE kit on PE days, which is great but also means I cannot pass on the trainer problem to the school!)

Super tired as I've been working late and DS has just been sick, so have been sorting emergency childcare. God I just want to sleep... So should probably go and do that! But sending best wishes and sleepy and clean pants vibes to everyone who needs them.

livpotter · 15/09/2021 13:55

That made me chuckle light. We have SO many pairs of shoes in the house for exactly the same reason. Hope dd finds things easier today!

Glad ds had a better day open.

Sorry about all the sickness dimples and Carrie.

Hope ds is having a better day today danni.

danni0509 · 16/09/2021 13:36

Light , pleased dd is getting on ok.

Open how’s ds with school?

Hi to everyone..

Ds school on Monday said, same as normal, nothing changed with him and they wouldn’t of guessed he was medicated.

Tuesday / Wednesday / today they have passed messages on to taxi driver to say he’s been really good (but not phoned or emailed me direct about it) he’s not had much if any bad behaviour / he’s been concentrating really well etc etc.

Tuesday afternoon at home he was lovely, but other than Tuesday afternoon he’s still been much the same / being impulsive / hitting me / angry / hyper etc.

I would say I’ve not noticed much if any difference in him at all. The taxi said he still behaving the same with them too and they wouldn’t of guessed he was medicated either.

No idea, but I’m v pleased he’s had some good days at school this week. Just hope it continues.

School keep getting him 10 minutes late from the driver though and bringing him out 5 minutes early, so the driver has said now, if they are 10 minutes late for him she will tell them she’ll collect him 10 minutes late so they get the message she just wanted my permission so I said that’s fine! Because he only does 2.5 hours as it is! And they are in effect cutting it down to 2hr 15m..

danni0509 · 16/09/2021 13:53

I should of said, I’m not expecting ds to be cured from adhd with his medication I know that doesn't happen.

For now though I’ll take the positives as, I’m getting it down him in smoothie and he doesn’t know it’s in there, having no issues with him drinking it all up so far, and that he’s recently had 3 good mornings at school on the bounce which I don’t think has happened so far..

I did 2 of those Yvonne newbold webinars, she’s a lovely lady but it’s nothing I didn’t know / haven’t done iyswim. (Don’t mean to sound rude in any way) I’ve booked the anxiety one now. Others I did was childhood controlling behaviour and the extreme behaviour / violent one. I think when you have spent 6 years plus googling every single day there isn’t much you haven’t read / tried.

danni0509 · 16/09/2021 13:57

But I do like Yvonne she’s very nice.

I’ll give the anxiety one a go, how can you not when they are only £4 each, did you do the demand avoidant one open?

openupmyeagereyes · 16/09/2021 16:56

danni that's great that he's had 3 good mornings at school, even if there hasn't been much improvement for you at home. I hope it continues and also that you can try increasing his dosage soon.

Ds didn't make it in today as he had a small accident going in the building and hurt himself. He's ok but was in a bit of a state so no chance getting him to stay. Hopefully I'll get him in tomorrow.

I didn't do the demand avoidance course because ds doesn't really present like that. By and large he's actually fairly compliant, there are just a few things that he is very stubborn about, and occasionally random things. It's not that asking him to do things generally is a trigger or anything.

You're right, you could probably teach the course right now. I hope something comes out of the anxiety one for you.

I actually think that PDA website is very detailed and comprehensive regarding strategies for PDA. There's probably not much that isn't on there.
