DLA - stopped

Hi
Not sure what to do, we have been getting DLA for my ADHD son for a long time, however we recently recieved a letter saying that follwing a form from his school that we were no longer able to claim!! I went into the school and was assured by the head of year that before anything gets filled in they have to contacts us, well I asked DLA for a copy of the report which I still havent received, now 3 weeks later the school has phoned to say they have just receieved and filled a form in for DLA but it was very lead and although he answered honestly, he thought he should let us know. He has since written us a letter detaiing the special help he gets in school for anger managment and also social skills etc.. but I have asked them to look at it again but the form filled in by the school was done after I asked for it to be looked at again. Its a nightmare, its bad enough having to fill the forms in anyway without this, My sons physchastrist (sp?) is soo angry and said there is no way they should have done ie, they havent contacted him. He is writing a support letter for us to. Has this happened to anyone else?? I dont know what to do I know they have lied. I am going to the CAB on thursday so hopefully they can help.

Ooh poor you- sounds like the effed up and are covering their tracks?

CAb should be good, is there and ADHD type association that could advise as well?

they also said that because his behaviour had apparently improved at school since sept we would have to pay back an overpayment!! He had 2 good weeks at the start of term as he always does but now on the verge of being excluded.. Why do Dla do this. A least the school agree he has major behavioral problems and they are willing to back us in our claim. Its horrible, I hope its sorted out soon, I am so worried.

That sounds terribe Was the report from the school part of the application for renewal for DLA, or did DLA just stop it abruptly?

If he is one the verge of exclusion, a tribunal at the very worst will abck yopur claim.

Anyway- isn't DLA about how they behave at home???? At the end of the day DLA is to help you, not the school, they have the LEA for that. DS1 gets higgher rate yet school state he's OK (well they don't now actually but thats a long story LOL)

It was part of a renewal although the claim was awarded in September, but then said they had asked the school for a report in December but the school only received it and sent it back 2 weeks ago. DLA was stopped 5 weeks ago. I am sure they have messed up big time and they are trying to cover there tracks. I just hope CAB can help, they still havent sent me a copy of this report that they apparently got back in December

OK, I know who to approach- they helped me with cA (I didnt get it but that wasnt due to them, it was a technical thing-boo). carers Uk, they have a website, and an e-mail helpline- not sure about a telehone but I would expect so.

DLA have told me that he must be as bad at school as at home, but I have tried to explain he takes medication for school hours, if I stop his medication he will be excluded, no medication deserves DLA but no school. Takes medication a little better at school but no DLA its soo stupid. the medication helps a little it doesn't mean that he doesn't have these problems
I thought they were supposed to be here for us too. haha

This all sounds very strange. So they made the award in September, then asked the school for a report in December? Agree that it sounds like they have messed up. I am sure CAB will help sort it out.
(I have 5 DSs too by the way -I assume you do from your mumsnet name!)

Yep I have 5 boys lol never a dull moment
I would still go for a girl if i could guarentee it or had the money to ensure a girl ( no debates about that though!!)

I have 3 boys only, must be lagging behind LOL! Trying for another though, you never know (though Dh reckons he has aged sperm now LOL)

LOL my hubby is so sure the next one will be a girl. Im not but I am convinced he enjoys the trying

Its great having so many boys though isn't it! My youngest is 8 now-he has Asperger's, as does my 18 year old. Never a dull moment here either!

We do have a lot of fun, my eldest is 14, then 12, 8, 6, and 4 yr old horror!! thats another post I started..

4 will be my maximum, but I am at Uni and ds1 has AS, ds3 has ASD so we know our limits (to me they're always one baby away LOL but Dh will get the snip i suspect)

Dh doesn't beleivce he can make girls, I am inclined to agree. he is one of 2 boys, I am one of 3 girls, but my Nan had 8 boys and 8 girls so ther is a miix somewhere back along. Both ,my sisters ahve boys though- must be a generational thing.

My consultant told me when I was pregnant with my youngest that we would be unlikely to have a girl after so many boys-apparently as a couple you can be predisposed to have a particular sex!

I am at college, I am training to be a hairdresser, and it is so much harder than I thought. I thought it would be all smiles and colours..lol loads of theory work and exams and moving really quickly. We are studying a 2 year course in 8 months....it isn't easy when your brain has been unused for 15 years

You must be really busy! Good luck with your course! I used to work as a social worker (working with adults) but had to give up 7 years ago because of illness. My lot keep me busy though!

mumof5boys, why did the school fill in your dla form? the disability health team helps me to fill mine in1

I filled the forms in Dla was then awarded in September, but for some reason the DLA then sent a manipulated form to the school, apparently in december. However school said they only recieved 3 weeks after dla stopped our claim
