TINSLEY HOUSE SUPPORT THREAD - PART 3!!!! :)

Badvoc · 05/04/2013 08:55

Well, here is the shiny new thread for all of us either doing the TH programme, doing part of it, or thinking about doing it! :)
A brief synopsis of stage 1 of the programme can be found in the books "is that my child?" Or "the brain food plan" by robin pauc;

Stage 1 of the TH therapy consists of:

  1. Daily Multivitamins

* Omega
* Zinc & Magnesium

  1. Healthy eating

* High protein, low sugar, no artificial sweeteners, additives etc.

  1. Specific neuro development exercises done 3 times a day

* Takes about 4-5 mins

And that's it :)

Stage 2 involves computer programmes to sort out eye tracking and convergence which over 80% of children with reading/writing problems have.

* www.engagingeyes.co.uk

We are coming to the end of our time doing TH I reckon...certainly by the end of the summer I think. It has been in many ways much easier than I thought at the beginning but of course takes commitment and time.

I am so glad we "took the plunge". It has made such a difference to ds and to our lives :)

Boys back at school tomorrow!
Hurrah!
They are getting a bit squabbly (is that a word?) now.
Dh has taken them swimming after lunch and Soon off to my mums for them to play frisbee and get them nice and tired :)
I think (whispers) that puberty may be on the horizon for Tom

We've got two weeks and a day left. Am knackered but kids are playing together soooo nicely that I shouldn't moan.

Ah.
Well, after ds2 being very excited about going back to pre school tomorrow he has just told me he doesn't want to go - with many tears.
Reasons given are:
He isn't interested (!)
He doesn't feel well enough
He wants to stay at home with me
He misses me
Sigh.
Thought it was all going too well....
Am hoping he is just tired (he is) and that he perks up tomorrow.
He was asleep in 2 mins after he stopped crying.
Tom only has 1 more term at primary school!
Blimey.

Badvoc - you've been got by the 'whoops I relaxed a tiny bit' bug. Happens to me the whole time. DH and I laugh about how often it happens..! Really hope tom is ok.

We've got another 10 days, which is good as we're all sick again. I really hope DS is better before Tuesday as I'll be very upset if we can't come to the meet-up. He's on day 3 of a virus and lost his voice today and was quite wheezy. Hmm Haven't gone to the doc as he is on anti-biotics already, but so fed up with making plans and then having to cancel them when one of us is ill! Focusing on positive thinking - have printed out voucher and planning a pic-nic!

Ruggles...Yes...that must be it! :)
Silly me.
Sorry to hear about your ds...this winter has been unremittingly awful for us health wise, so I can empathise.
Tom still coughing and snotty and complaining of a sore throat, but he was well enough to go swimming earlier, and to pay frisbee for an hour so am assuming he is not too bad
Am phoning for the results of ds2s swabs tomorrow too. Oh joy.
It's my uncles funeral next week, and of course dh is away in South America. I hope I can go.
Really hope you get to go to the meet up. I have had to cancel loads of stuff recently and it really gets you down after a while...
X

Sorry to have been off the thread for a while. Have had family staying and all been a bit manic.

I think most people are planning to be at the Butterfly Farm from 11am onwards. The forecast is rain, so picnic might not work. I am happy to fend off any complaints from staff about eating own food in cafe on the basis that our kids are on restricted diets. Really looking forward to it.

Really looking forward to our get together on Tuesday. The weather forecast is a bit iffy so we may need to use the cafe. I'm sure they will allow food from home as so many of our children have special diets!

Tomorrows Meet Up - so sorry, but not going to make it as DS is still not well and DD has thrown up this afternoon. I am so annoyed as was really looking forward to meeting some of you. I was sort of hoping that DS would be even better tom and would be fine with a good zzz in the car on the way, but he's not any better and now DD too... it's just really disappointing Sad Sad

What a shame :( but there will be another :)
Hope the dc are well again soon.
Tom is happy.
He said to me:
I started on the bottom table and now I am on top!
It's so nice for him.
Ds2 has been dx as asthmatic today. Sigh. I know it's probably like Tom and he will outgrow it, but am so sad about it. Inhalers all over the place in this house!!

I will aim to be there at 11 and will lurk by the entrance. I will be the stunningly beautiful woman with two perfect blonde children. Or the ever so harassed scruff pot with two whinging blonde children :)

Just a quick breakfast question. Since new regime ds2's appetite has improved dramatically. He had 3 sausages this morning but is still hungry. Is it acceptable to have weetabix now as he has eaten his protein, or is it still a no no?
Also he is always hungry just before bedtime, he is tiny and so needs to eat little and often. Would weetabix be an acceptable late supper or is this fuelling another carb addiction? Confused He really seems to struggle with digesting so much protein and if I cram any more fruit/veg into him he will have constant squits Smile

Yes, Tom now eats loads more than he used to...he growing fast!
Tom has rice cakes before bed to tide him over til morning.
As long as he has had his protein first, then I think some porridge after would be fine, but maybe phone robin and ask?

My DD insists on muesli at breakfast. Robin said it wasn't a problem as long as protein was first. It helps with breakfast in our house - the promise of muesli as long as she eases her beans/ eggs etc.
