TINSLEY HOUSE SUPPORT THREAD - PART 3!!!! :)

Badvoc · 05/04/2013 08:55

Well, here is the shiny new thread for all of us either doing the TH programme, doing part of it, or thinking about doing it! :)
A brief synopsis of stage 1 of the programme can be found in the books "is that my child?" Or "the brain food plan" by robin pauc;

Stage 1 of the TH therapy consists of:

  1. Daily Multivitamins

* Omega
* Zinc & Magnesium

  1. Healthy eating

* High protein, low sugar, no artificial sweeteners, additives etc.

  1. Specific neuro development exercises done 3 times a day

* Takes about 4-5 mins

And that's it :)

Stage 2 involves computer programmes to sort out eye tracking and convergence which over 80% of children with reading/writing problems have.

* www.engagingeyes.co.uk

We are coming to the end of our time doing TH I reckon...certainly by the end of the summer I think. It has been in many ways much easier than I thought at the beginning but of course takes commitment and time.

I am so glad we "took the plunge". It has made such a difference to ds and to our lives :)

Hi everyone just had our Skype with Robin. Ds has two more months of hemi p t and opk to do but he thinks that we will get rid of the emotional outbursts within the next few months. That would be life changingly amazing if it did happen. The melt downs are the only things I worry Sbout now and although they are less frequent, the intensity is still upsetting ( and I'm ashamed to admit, embarrassing in public).
I told Robin about our meet up and he was saying how brilliant mumsnet has been for spreading the news about TH.

Yes.
I advocate a "smile and wave" policy on anyone who tries to belittle you wrt your dc.
Smile.
Nicely.
Wave bye bye.

Shopping- glad your Skype appointment went well. sounds like you are nearly there with the emotional stuff. You have a gorgeous, clever boy there. You just need to do the programme every day now and he will be fine.

Badvoc and |Ruggles- Thanks Feel fine tonight. Your kind and perceptive words really help and DS read 11 pages of his reading book with no problems tonight and was happy when I picked him up from school.Smile

I love this thread. It is simply the best!

I love this thread too. I still miss Indigo and wish she was on here still. I don't think we'll allow Badvoc to retire when she finishes. We'd miss her and Tales from Tom too!

oops I meant Shopping not Ruggles on last post!

Ruggles- My money is on Robin reading this thread! Grin Grin

I am so frivolous these days! Probably because I am not really worried about DC anymore!

Agree about the loss of Indigo to the thread. She is the founder and has been and will remain an inspiration to us all. We and our kids owe her so much. Having said that, Badvoc has taken over at the helm in a magnificent way and she and Tom are truly amazing.

Ruggles- I completely empathise about your dh being surprised at your positivity! I have turned into a stressed anxious mess and fear that I will never get my happy back! Dh's seem to be able to switch off the worry whilst it seems to define me now. Perhaps Robin needs to run a clinic to repair the mummy's overwrought brains :)

Ha!
I know what you mean.
Tom had a good night last night despite it being the first night of dh being away. Historically he has been very unsettled when dh went away for long trips.
Ds2 is being a bit clingy, but he is only 4.
Got confirmation this morning that he got into the primary school we applied for even though is isnt our catchment school.
Dh and I still have an "eh!?" moment at times when we go to parents evenings etc...we were so used to upsetting/disappointing news that for the last 2 we have all just sat around a table smiling at each other :)
Very odd feeling!

Can anyone describe the daily neuro development exercises to me ? Have heard about them, but wondered if they were easy ... ta!

Report
Badvoc · 16/04/2013 20:36

Not really.
You would need to either buy or borrow the book (sorry, mine is on kindle)
They are easy in one sense (that is, not complicated at all) but are very difficult for the children to do at first. Although of course in time they get much better.

Hi MadamSin - we have found the exercises quite straightforward so far. DCs have been more than happy to do them and on the odd occasion when they are too knackered / ill / just grumpy I haven't forced it - we've kept it as a fun thing, almost a treat.

Well....big boast coming up....

DD has been doing hemi p, t and opk together for 5 1/2 weeks now and I have seen massive changes in her in the last few days. I swear, her ADD has virtually gone. Amazing.

DS has been doing hemi p and t for 5 1/2 weeks and is coping really well with school now. He told me tonight that his brain is completely upright now ( no longer upside down or horizontal!!) and said that he doesnt get things wrong at school anymore! Still some way to go for him but this is fabulous progress for us.

Any doubters out there.....Tinsley House is a superb programme. Robin Pauc truly understands the problems that our kids have and how to stimulate the brain to overcome these problems and allow the children to develop to their full potential. As Badvoc says, the exercises themselves are easy but the programme can be tough at times but if you follow Robin's advice your children will make amazing gains. My advice is to buy " The Brain Food Plan", make the dietry changes and introduce the supplements which Robin sets out and give him a call. He is incredibly approachable and will support you and your child every step of the way...

I've booked to go to Tinsley House in a couple of weeks with DS and family.

We want to stay for a weekend. Has anyone else stayed there? Do you have any recommendations? thank you.

We'd like to stay somewhere affordable.

Hi skewiff, we stay at the premier inn in Hordle. It's not far from Robin's and is pretty cheap and nice. Makes meals easy because there's a restaurant attached.

Beautiful - that is fantastic news! How brilliant and in such a short time too. I love the description of how the brain is the right way up now Smile. I lose track, how old are they?

Hi Skewiff - we don't stay down there so have no accommodation recommendations but there is lots to do to make it a good weekend. Beaulieu, Paulton Park & Peppa Pig World and Bucklers Yard (old village and navy yard. More info It's also a great place for cycling and horse riding. We always take a picnic and the wild horses and donkeys like to come and check you out!

Wow, lots of chatting whilst we have been away for the last two weeks and a sparkly new thread. Well done Badvoc Smile

I am so pleased to see that so many dcs have been doing so amazingly well and that some others are taking the plunge on visiting TH too.

I am so sorry we couldn't get to the meet up, we had a date with Mickey that day! Will definitely try to make a summer one though.

Ds started on new epilepsy meds just before we went on holiday and he was a changed boy whilst away. More energy, normal appetite. He actually wanted to buy some Lego and built and actually played with it and swam for many hours each day. We had a few outbursts towards the end of the holiday but nothing very long or bad. Mostly, I would say that he coped with everything so much better than when we went two years ago.

Dd has come home with an ear infection and has been suffering for the last two nights and ds' ear was painful last night but fine this morning. Fingers crossed it doesn't 're-appear' tomorrow for first day of term!

We obviously have not been doing any tracking or hemi stim, so need to get back on it asap as I am due to call Robin next week to update progress!

Very disappointed to have missed Tom's photo Badvoc
