We won the tribunal !!!!!!

Can't believe it - in shock! This started from when we had a 8.5k a year placement as our first school choice. LA played their stupid games and the offer of a place withdrawn on the final day of submissions so we had 24 hours to find an independent placement which we have won.

So a year of stress which could have been resolved months ago without the need for tribunal - cost to us 3k and heaps of stress.

Cost to LA was originally going to be about 20k if they had gone with our first choice of placement, cost to LA now 70k a year for the placement plus the cost of hiring a solicitor and barrister to take us on - I did it without any legal help but the power of mumsnet.

Would like to say thank you to each and everyone of you for holding my hand through this journey. Just shows that David can beat Goliath.

The journey not over for me as now the complaint process starts but that can wait for another day Smile

Congratulations, brilliant news and well deserved. Have a WELL DESERVED rest now, as you have been to hell and back, due to the LA.

bochead · 27/02/2013 13:11

Yes!!!!!!! I'm so happy for you!!!!!!!!

That's wonderful. I firmly believe that every individual victory is a stepping stone in the right direction for ALL our kids.

Be prepared to "crash" over the next few weeks though, as the acculumated stress catches up with you. Plan a chillax weekend and a long bath when it hits.

What a waste of LA resources though - why can't these people just do the right thing in the first instance instead of having to be forced at every turn.

Scottishdancer · 27/02/2013 13:16

well done, that is brilliant news Grin

do take some time to absorb this news - in some ways it is similar to taking time post dx to absorb and let it snk in. but today is a day to celebrate - what fantastic news!

wasuup3000 · 27/02/2013 13:41

Brilliant!! ;)

flowwithit · 27/02/2013 13:49

Hope you can relax a little and celebrate now your hard work and persistence has paid off, fantastic!

AgnesDiPesto · 27/02/2013 13:57

Hurrah! I had a hunch but you never know with panels so its good to have faith in common sense restored. We started off asking for £7500 part time mld nursery placement and ended up with £50k ABA in mainstream all because LA insisted ds was too bright and mild for SS. Glad the game playing blew up in their faces. Don't expect their attitude to change our LA treated us as tho we had bewitched the panel and lied to win to avoid accepting any responsibility. The best thing is you can now cut out of your life all those profs who did not help you. Right now go book the spa you missed out on. You deserve a total blow out.

moosemama · 27/02/2013 14:05

When will these LA's learn??

zumbaleena · 27/02/2013 14:21

Oh brilliant bjk! Honk honk

StarlightMcKenzie · 27/02/2013 14:32

Well that brought me to tears!

We're all so incredibly proud of you.

If you can afford it in anyway, spend a couple of hundred on some indulgence.

Honk! Grin

StarlightMcKenzie · 27/02/2013 14:37

We started off simply asking that DS' already allocated TA be trained in ABA and a bit of consultant time. About £2k.

Ended up with a £35 placement with transport.

StarlightMcKenzie · 27/02/2013 14:38

£35k.

If we had lost that they woukd have justified their legal team by saying they had 'saved' £35k, when actually all we ever wanted was a decent TA and a bit of access.
