We won the tribunal !!!!!!

Can't believe it - in shock! This started from when we had a 8.5k a year placement as our first school choice. LA played their stupid games and the offer of a place withdrawn on the final day of submissions so we had 24 hours to find an independent placement which we have won.

So a year of stress which could have been resolved months ago without the need for tribunal - cost to us 3k and heaps of stress.

Cost to LA was originally going to be about 20k if they had gone with our first choice of placement, cost to LA now 70k a year for the placement plus the cost of hiring a solicitor and barrister to take us on - I did it without any legal help but the power of mumsnet.

Would like to say thank you to each and everyone of you for holding my hand through this journey. Just shows that David can beat Goliath.

The journey not over for me as now the complaint process starts but that can wait for another day Smile

You know what I'm gonna daydream of?

LA's solicitors face. I think I might even toast her. It was one mighty performance.

Brilliant - I knew you'd win!! Grin. Their case was pretty poor really so it looked quite unlikely to go their way.
Perhaps you could send a rotten carrot to the LA solicitor Smile

let me share some snippets of the judgement with you:-

we have concerns re the LA proposals for J to attend mainstream school. That offer appears to have been made very much at the last minute and did not give the impression of having been carefully considered and thought out in detail.

that about sums up my tribunal - LA thought they could just turn up and throw a placement never discussed before and thought they could get away with it! thing is the tribunal were so poker faced that we could not read it and we were sure that we couldnt win because of the cost. the head of the independent school phoned today and she thought we may have lost as we hadnt contacted her and also because so much was made of the costs at the time. the ruling concludes that the school the LA suggested was simply not appropropiate so therefore out school gets it Smile

the LA are of course so far absolutely silent Grin

been and got a bottle of bubbly for me and dh to share tonight when he gets in from work

I am so pleased for you that this has gone your way. I have followed the story for a while now and we are heading to tribunal shortly asking for SS indi school too. Please send us some of the luck that was with you through all this so that we can get the same positive outcome.

Very very very well done - it is a truly daunting process, but now it's over. Now you can just get on with the stuff that matters: concentraing on your ds himself.

I trust you'll have a seriously kick-ass celebration this weekend Grin
