successful presents thread

Presents are always difficult for my ASD DC, but I had a couple that really worked this tear . I thought a thread like this might be useful for future inspiration. In our house, the presents of the year are:

A battery tester
Key ring with measuring tape
Set of bus postcards

How about you?

ELC Happyland rocket - both kids love it. Should have bought two. Rats.

Hex bug habitat. And also the Xbox with kinect. But if I'd known what a hit the hex bugs would have been, I would have bought a bigger one of them and not bought the Xbox this year - also its maybe been too much of a hit IYSWIM, I foresee many battles over screen time.

DS! is easy - Lego. He loves his lego ideas book, too. And is amused by his bananagrams.

DS2 is much harder, but we nailed it, this year.

Things he loves include V-tech Dinos (though he won't let us turn them into Dinos for him - they have to remain cars), a liquid timer (he spent a lot of yesterday mesmerised by that) and his mini table football. He can't play it, but he was running around with the balls between his toes and likes using his hands to push the ball into the goal. He also did his ITNG jigsaw as soon as we opened it and he likes the bit off the front of his Gup X. We've deliberately gone for things that he's been transfixed by in the shops. Oh - and the laces out of his lace up cards have gone to join the rest of his collection of laces. He's not so fussed about the cards

Lego used to be good here, but, as usual, over night it went from the only toy that would be played with to the redundant pile.

Love the laces collection, we never had one of those

I can't imagine what life would be like without technology though, now they are older it is just their laptops and mobiles, but not sure how they would manage without them. Being able to get answers by text when they are not communicating verbally has been a godsend

DD2 got a laptop (amongst other stuff)

Her favourite present however is a McFly autobiography and a microwave crisp maker.

octonauts memory game . by far the most successful present.been playing it non stop since yesterday morning.

Leonie - every year my DM has bought my DD a particular brand of doll from France for Christmas. She does like them but doesn't play with them as such, she just takes their clothes off and puts my oven gloves on them so they can go to sleep. Only the oven gloves though - nothing else will do as a blanket.
This year my DM appears to have given up - she bought her a lovely hat, glove and scarf set and a jigsaw instead!

Hands down, a white poodle handbag with hot pink jacket, similar to this . DD has been taking it for walks round the house for the past 24 hrs!

The boy won't usually even pick up a pen and he's never drawn or written anything before but he's wrote the numbers 1,2,3,7,8 and 11 on his easel:)
I'm in absolute blooming happy shock :)

6yo DS2 was thrilled with his Kiddizoom VTech camera. However, we bought a less expensive one for DS3 (3yo) as he didn't seem interested in the games and such that the Kiddizoom has. The less expensive camera was... well... it was pretty awful, which we didn't really see until it was opened properly.

We were telling DS3 that we would buy him one like DS2's over the weekend, when DS2 very kindly offered to let DS3 have HIS new camera and wait until the weekend for that one. DS2 is not one for waiting, so this was a shock. He's also not one for just giving stuff to DS3, so again we were surprised. It was such a sweet thing - he handed it to DS3 and said "here you go, DS3, you can have this one."

I'm sure it doesn't hurt that we now have the Nexus that he can play with sometimes, but he's just being very patient about the camera. He's looking forward to getting his but happy for DS3 to have his. Both the same cameras, so that's not an issue.

Of course, that's the ONLY thing he is being patient about. Weird, eh? He's still very NOW NOW NOW on everything else.

Brought DS (6) loads this xmas, but his fave by far has been a second hand Lego Star Wars game for the xbox, rest has hardly been touched

A very disgusting game called Doggie Doo. Taking turns, clapping, high fives and squeals of "it's disgusting!" from my five year old. Lovely to see him come. Out of his shell after a very introverted couple of days :-)

dd asd age 3 has not put her furby down not even to sleep. She loves owls and we knew she would think of it as a baby owl she loves it.
